This is the protocol for a Campbell systematic review. The objectives are as follows: to produce a mega-map which identifies, maps and provides a visual interactive display, based on systematic reviews on all the main aspects of elder abuse in both the community and in institutions, such as residential and long-term care institutions.

Background: Social support and sense of mastery are considered important resources in coping both with serious mental illness (SMI) and with motherhood-related challenges. However, their interactive effects on the parental stress of mothers with SMI are not clear.

Methods: Scales assessing parental distress, social support, and sense of mastery were administered to 60 mothers with SMI and 60 mothers without SMI.

A Fast Track to Hypoalgesia - The Anaerobic Exercise Effect on Pain Sensitivity.

Maximal anaerobic exercise, is a short high intensity effort, involves activation of the hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal axis, and may suggest hypoalgesic effects. In addition, this exercise-induced muscle pain may contribute to hypoalgesia via the pain inhibits pain phenomenon, which is related to the diffuse noxious inhibitory control (DNIC) mechanism. We aimed to investigate whether: 1) a single bout of 30 s maximal anaerobic exercise has an analgesic effect on experimental pain sensitivity; 2) DNIC is the underlying mechanism of anaerobic exercise-induced hypoalgesia (EIH).

Neuro-cognition and social cognition elements of social functioning and social quality of life.

Previous studies have shown that deficits in social cognition mediate the association between neuro-cognition and functional outcome. Based on these findings, the current study presents an examination of the mediating role of social cognition and includes two different outcomes: social functioning assessed by objective observer and social quality of life assessed by subjective self-report. Instruments measuring different aspects of social cognition, cognitive ability, social functioning and social quality of life were administered to 131 participants who had a diagnosis of a serious mental illness.

Between self-clarity and recovery in schizophrenia: reducing the self-stigma and finding meaning.

Although there are extensive theoretical reviews regarding the self-experience among persons with schizophrenia, there is limited research that addresses the implications of self-clarity on the recovery of persons with schizophrenia while exploring the role of possible mediators within this process. Accordingly, the current study explored the relationship between self-clarity and recovery while examining the possible mediating role of self-stigma and sense of meaning in life. 80 persons with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder were administered four scales: self-concept clarity, self-stigma, meaning in life, and recovery.

Assessment of computer task performance (ACTP) of children and youth with intellectual and developmental disability.

The aims of this study were to assess the reliability and validity of the Arabic translation of the Assessment of Computer Task Performance (ACTP) when used for children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and to determine the relationship between participants' performance when using an adapted pointing device and the teacher's satisfaction of their performance. Thirty boys and girls, Arabic speakers, 6- 21 years old, who had moderate IDD, participated in the study. Two expert occupational therapists used the ACTP to evaluate the performance of five standardized timed computer tasks.
