For the first time, this paper offers the Bayesian and E-Bayesian estimation methods using the spacing function (SF) instead of the classical likelihood function. The inverse Lindley distribution, including its parameter and reliability measures, is discussed in this study through the mentioned methods, along with some other classical approaches. Six-point and six-interval estimations based on an adaptive Type-I progressively censored sample are considered.

In this study, an eco-friendly strategy was used to prepare a novel SrTiO/Ag/rGO composite. A SrTiO/Ag/rGO composite-modified screen-printed carbon electrode (SPCE) was applied for the electrochemical detection of 4-nitrophenol. A simple ultrasonic method with an ultrasonic frequency of 20 kHz was used for the synthesis of SrTiO/Ag/rGO composite material.

The release of metformin, a drug used in the treatment of cancer and diabetes, from poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate), pHEMA, hydrogel-based microneedle patches is demonstrated in vitro. Tuning the composition of the pHEMA hydrogels enables preparation of robust microneedle patches with mechanical properties such that they would penetrate skin (insertion force of a single microneedle to be ≈40 N). Swelling experiments conducted at 20, 35, and 60 °C show temperature-dependent degrees of swelling and diffusion kinetics.

Electronic address:

The reclamation of wetlands and its subsequent conversion to aquaculture may alter regional nutrient (im)mobilization and cycling, although direct assessments of phosphorus (P) cycling and its budget balance following wetland conversion are currently scarce. Here, parallel field experiments were conducted to investigate and compare the availability and mobilization mechanisms of P from natural coastal wetlands and the adjacent converted aquaculture ponds based on high-resolution diffusive gradient in thin films (DGT) and dialysis (HR-Peeper) techniques and the DGT-induced fluxes in sediments (DIFS) model. The study found that the conversion of wetland to pond strongly reduced the sediment P pool by changing its forms and distribution.

The abundance of plastic debris (PDs) and its correlation with phthalic acid esters (PAEs), a class of pollutants associated with plastics, is not well understood, although PDs have been reported in relation to the release and distribution of aquatic pollutants such as PAEs. Few studies have linked the distribution of these pollutants in seawater. The current study examined the abundance and relationship of PDs and PAEs in seawater from Sharm Obhur and the Red Sea.

-Metallacycles have become the key reaction intermediates in activating various remote C(sp)-H and C(sp)-H bonds in the past decade and aided in achieving unusual site-selectivity. Various novel -chelating auxiliaries have assisted metals to reach desired remote C-H bonds of different alcohol and amine-derived substrates. As a result, a wide range of organic transformations of C-H bonds like halogenation, acetoxylation, amidation, sulfonylation, olefination, acylation, arylation, were accessible using the -metallacycle strategy.

A simple gold-catalyzed annulation of 1,8-dialkynylnaphthalenes utilizing a cationic gold catalyst was developed. Such a peri-position of two alkynyl substituents has not been studied in gold catalysis before. Dependent on the substrate, the reactions either follow a mechanism involving vinyl cation intermediates or involve a dual gold catalysis mechanism which in an initial 6-endo-dig-cyclization generates gold(I) vinylidene intermediates that are able to insert into C-H bonds.

The inverted repeat (IR) lacking clade (IRLC) is a monophyletic group within the Papilionoideae subfamily of Fabaceae where plastid genomes (plastomes) do not contain the large IR typical of land plants. Recently, an IRLC legume, , was found to have regrown a ~9 kb IR that contained a number of canonical IR genes, and closely related contained an incomplete IR of ~425 bp. Complete plastomes were generated for seven additional species, putative members of the clade.

Computer-aided discovery of a metal-organic framework with superior oxygen uptake.

Nat Commun

April 2018

Department of Chemical Engineering & Biotechnology, University of Cambridge, Philippa Fawcett Drive, Cambridge, CB3 0AS, UK.

Current advances in materials science have resulted in the rapid emergence of thousands of functional adsorbent materials in recent years. This clearly creates multiple opportunities for their potential application, but it also creates the following challenge: how does one identify the most promising structures, among the thousands of possibilities, for a particular application? Here, we present a case of computer-aided material discovery, in which we complete the full cycle from computational screening of metal-organic framework materials for oxygen storage, to identification, synthesis and measurement of oxygen adsorption in the top-ranked structure. We introduce an interactive visualization concept to analyze over 1000 unique structure-property plots in five dimensions and delimit the relationships between structural properties and oxygen adsorption performance at different pressures for 2932 already-synthesized structures.
