Methods: We identified all patients aged ≥ 30 years hospitalized in the state of Victoria, Australia, for ischemic stroke from July 1, 2013 to April 30, 2018 from the Victorian Admitted Episodes Data set. People with dementia were matched 1:4 for sex, 5-year age group and index date ± 90 days with people without dementia.

Background And Aims: The Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic brought to the forefront various public health approaches, including the consumption of dietary supplements (DS) as a protective measure. With misinformation regarding the virus and the associated benefits of DS prevalent, this study aimed to understand knowledge, habits, and beliefs related to DS usage as a protective measure during the pandemic in Malaysia and Iraq, two countries with deep-rooted traditions in herbal and supplement usage.

Methods: A cross-sectional research study was conducted between September 2021 and March 2022 using a validated online survey.

Intravenous methadone in the management of acute postoperative pain in a chronic cancer pain patient: A case report and review of the literature.

Key Clinical Message: The current landscape of literature highlights that there is insufficient well-powered and robust evidence to support the integration of intravenous methadone into current guidelines and frameworks in supporting the pain management of cancer patient with complex pain syndromes. However, there is preliminary evidence, both from the literature as well as this case study that highlights intravenous methadone may be efficaciously and safety used for the management of postoperative pain in cancer patients with chronic pain undergoing operative management. Further research is required to fully elucidate key considerations of integrating this medication into clinical practice including consideration into dosing, opioid conversion, tolerance, and safety.
