Understanding how test-set results affect real-world performance can help refine their use as a quality improvement tool. The aim of this study is to explore if mammographic test-set results could identify breast-screening readers who improved their cancer detection in association with test-set training.

The development and evaluation of a vaccination pathway for children with intellectual and developmental disability and needle fear.

This qualitative study describes the development and evaluation of a clinical pathway to facilitate the implementation of catch-up vaccinations for children with significant needle fear, particularly in children with developmental disabilities. The Specialist Immunization Team, based at a tertiary level teaching children's hospital, participated in process mapping activities using Motivational Interviewing (MI) techniques and reflective discussions. Team members developed a clinical pathway by incorporating parental feedback from semistructured interviews and clinical expertise from within the team, facilitated by colleagues from the Child Development Unit.

Abstract: A 53-year-old female was referred for visual electrophysiology following a routine optometric eye examination in which yellow flecks were noted in both fundi and the patient had reported a recent near accident whilst driving at night. There was no reported family history of eye disease.

Methods: A new protocol was developed by Geriatric Medicine and Endocrinology departments at a tertiary care hospital in Sydney. Its aim was to standardize assessment and treatment of osteoporosis in patients admitted with hip fracture.

A 43-year-old healthy male presented with left ankle septic arthritis. Surgical specimens cultured (group A Streptococcus, GAS) and IV benzylpenicillin was commenced. In the setting of coryzal symptoms, a chest radiograph and nasopharyngeal swab revealed a left-sided pleural effusion and influenza B infection, respectively.

Consequently, there is increasing concern about the impacts of diet-induced obesity on behavior and cognition. While research on this matter continues, to date, no study has explicitly investigated the effect of obesogenic diet on variance and covariance (correlation) in behavioral traits.

Background: Early-onset Parkinson's disease (EOPD)/young-onset Parkinson's disease (YOPD) is defined as Parkinson's disease (PD) with an age at onset (AAO) after age 21 years but before the usual AAO for PD. Consensus is lacking, and the reported maximal age for EOPD/YOPD has varied from 40 to 60 years, leading to a lack of uniformity in published studies and difficulty in harmonization of data. EOPD and YOPD have both been used in the literature, somewhat interchangeably.

This is an uncommon localisation of this relatively newly described benign soft tissue tumour. There will be growing demand for professional interpreters for cognitive assessments and dementia-related health consultations in the future. Interpreting cognitive assessments can be challenging for interpreters; inaccurate interpreting can influence assessment outcomes.

A national harmonised data collection network for neurodevelopmental disorders: A transdiagnostic assessment protocol for neurodevelopment, mental health, functioning and well-being.

Background: Children with neurodevelopmental disorders share common phenotypes, support needs and comorbidities. Such overlap suggests the value of transdiagnostic assessment pathways that contribute to knowledge about research and clinical needs of these children and their families. Despite this, large transdiagnostic data collection networks for neurodevelopmental disorders are not well developed.

Objective: To investigate the associations of Graves' disease (GD) severity, autoimmunity and longitudinal liver enzyme changes with time in a cohort with well-characterized GD.

Design: Retrospective cohort study.

Patients: Patients diagnosed with Graves' disease, treated at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Sydney, Adult Thyroid Clinic from 2000 to 2012 inclusive.

Fetal hypoxia and hyperglycemia in the formation of phenytoin-induced cleft lip and maxillary hypoplasia.

Objective: Phenytoin exposure during the first trimester of pregnancy increases the risk of maxillary hypoplasia and cleft lip. The etiology of phenytoin embryopathy is unknown. Interestingly, phenytoin is also known to induce hyperglycemia in humans as well as rats.
