Background Cerebral small vessel disease is associated with higher ratios of soluble-epoxide hydrolase derived linoleic acid diols (12,13-dihydroxyoctadecenoic acid [DiHOME] and 9,10-DiHOME) to their parent epoxides (12(13)-epoxyoctadecenoic acid [EpOME] and 9(10)-EpOME); however, the relationship has not yet been examined in stroke. Methods and Results Participants with mild to moderate small vessel stroke or large vessel stroke were selected based on clinical and imaging criteria. Metabolites were quantified by ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry.

The 17-gene stemness score associates with relapse risk and long-term outcomes following allogeneic haematopoietic cell transplantation in acute myeloid leukaemia.

A 17-gene stemness (LSC17) score determines risk in acute myeloid leukaemia patients treated with standard chemotherapy regimens. The present study further analysed the impact of the LSC17 score at diagnosis on outcomes following allogeneic haematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT). Out of 452 patients with available LSC17 score, 123 patients received allogeneic HCT.

The Genetic Psychosocial Risk Instrument (GPRI): A Validation Study for European Portuguese.

Introduction: Screening instruments specifically developed to identify genetic testing applicants who may need professional psychosocial support are much needed. However, there are no screening instruments validated for the Portuguese language. This paper presents the translation, adaptation, and validation process of the Genetic Psychosocial Risk Instrument in a sample of 207 Portuguese applicants to genetic testing in the context of inherited cancer risk.

Artificial amniotic fluid for nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy studies.

Amniocentesis is the process of retrieving the nutrient-rich amniotic fluid (AF) that encompasses the growing fetus in order to diagnose fetal diseases and developmental disorders. Currently, it is only performed on pregnant persons at risk and is invasive with the potential for infection and in some cases, miscarriage. A non-invasive alternative is needed and could be developed using magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS).

Staff perceptions of the implementation of a trauma video review program at a level I trauma center.

Objectives: Successful implementation of any new technology requires extensive engagement with front-line staff. We explored the perceptions of emergency department and trauma staff about a trauma video review program (TVR) prior to implementation of the first such program in Canada at our level I trauma center.

Methods: We conducted semi-structured individual interviews and in situ small group interviews with 35 multidisciplinary ED and trauma staff members of a teaching and research hospital in Toronto, Canada.
