Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) has become an indispensable tool for biomolecular analysis, yet the detection of DNA signals remains hindered by spectral interference from citrate ions, which overlap with key DNA features. This study introduces an innovative, ultrasensitive SERS platform utilizing thiol-modified silver nanoparticles (Ag@SDCNPs) that overcomes this challenge by eliminating citrate interference. This platform enables direct, interference-free detection and structural characterization of a wide range of DNA conformations, including single-stranded DNA (ssDNA), double-stranded DNA (dsDNA), i-motif, hairpin, G-quadruplex, and triple-stranded DNA (tsDNA).

Accurate detection of cardiovascular drugs in blood is complicated by interference from serum biomolecules. This study introduces a novel surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) platform incorporating "molecular hooks" to capture small drug molecules while excluding larger biomolecules selectively. The self-assembled nanoparticles with the A13 molecule enhance Raman signals by creating dense electromagnetic "hotspot" regions, achieving detection limits of 10 pg/mL for dobutamine hydrochloride and 10 ng/mL for milrinone-substantially below therapeutic thresholds.

The 2021 Arctic Monitoring Assessment Program (AMAP)'s Human Health Assessment report presents a summary of the presence of contaminants in human populations across the circumpolar Arctic and provides an update to the previous assessment released in 2015. The primary objective of this paper is to summarise some of these findings by describing the current levels of metals across the Arctic, including key regional and temporal trends based on available national data and literature, and highlight knowledge gaps. Many Arctic populations continue to have elevated levels of these contaminants, and the highest levels of mercury (Hg) were observed in populations from Greenland, Faroe Islands, and Nunavik (Canada).

Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) imaging technology faces significant technical bottlenecks in ensuring balanced spatial resolution, preventing image bias induced by substrate heterogeneity, accurate quantitative analysis, and substrate preparation that enhances Raman signal strength on a global scale. To systematically solve these problems, artificial intelligence techniques are applied to analyze the signals of pesticides based on 3D and dynamic SERS imaging. Utilizing perovskite/silver nanoparticles composites (CaTiO/Ag@BONPs) as enhanced substrates, enabling it not only to cleanse pesticide residues from the surface to pulp of fruits and vegetables, but also to investigate the penetration dynamics of an array of pesticides (chlorpyrifos, thiabendazole, thiram, and acetamiprid).

Unraveling bacterial identity through Raman scattering techniques has been persistently challenging due to homogeneously amplified Raman signals across a wide variety of bacterial molecules, predominantly protein- or nucleic acid-mediated. In this study, we present an approach involving the use of silver nanoparticles to completely and uniformly "mask" adsorption on the surface of bacterial molecules through sodium borohydride and sodium chloride. This approach enables the acquisition of enhanced surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) signals from all components on the bacterial surface, facilitating rapid, specific, and label-free bacterial identification.

Label-free detection of vitamin B by two-step enhanced Raman technique using dynamic borohydride-reduced silver nanoparticles.

A creatively designed novel two-step enhancement technique is presented in which B vitamin molecules are dynamically adsorbed onto the surface of silver nanoparticles by sodium borohydride, followed by local plasmon resonance in the presence of cations (calcium ions), ultimately achieving synergistic chemical and physical enhancement on the same molecule and constructing a "surface hot spots" two-step enhancement platform for vitamin detection. The Raman signal of the promoted vitamin molecule is enhanced by nine orders of magnitude. In a subsequent study it was observed that the vitamin B2 molecules were in a near-vertical image on the surface of the silver nanoparticles, which may also contribute to the Raman signal enhancement.
