Global widespread of current coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has emerged huge predicament to healthcare systems globally. This disease caused by a new beta-type coronavirus, known as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), may lead to systemic multiorgan dysfunction syndrome and subsequently cause death due to abundant angiotensin converting enzyme 2 as its functional receptors throughout body. Oncology patients even have a worse prognosis with greater infection susceptibility because they are in a state of suppression of the systemic immune system due to malignancy and anticancer therapy.

Background: acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is often followed by hyperglycemia. To date, there is no study that examine the role of myocardial damage, ion channel changes and increased inflammatory response as a pathomechanism of malignant arrhythmias due to hyperglycemia in AMI patients. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of acute hyperglycemia on the occurence of malignant arrhythmias, troponin I, VLP, echocardiographic strain, ion channel changes (CaMKII) and hsCRP.

We reviewed the National Cancer Screening Program (NCSP) in China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, and Thailand.

Drug hypersensitivity reactions in Asia: regional issues and challenges.

There are geographical, regional, and ethnic differences in the phenotypes and endotypes of patients with drug hypersensitivity reactions (DHRs) in different parts of the world. In Asia, aspects of drug hypersensitivity of regional importance include IgE-mediated allergies and T-cell-mediated reactions, including severe cutaneous adverse reactions (SCARs), to beta-lactam antibiotics, antituberculous drugs, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and radiocontrast agents. Delabeling of low-risk penicillin allergy using direct oral provocation tests without skin tests have been found to be useful where the drug plausibility of the index reaction is low.

Background: the incidence of acute kidney injury (AKI) in intensive care units is associated with increased mortality, post AKI morbidity and high treatment costs. Research on factors related to mortality of AKI patients in intensive care units in Indonesia, especially Cipto Mangungkusumo General Hospital has never been done. This study aims to determine the prevalence of AKI, mortality rate of AKI patients, and the factors associated with increased mortality of AKI patients in intensive care units in ICU Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital.

Over more than two decades, the concept of atherosclerosis has developed and lead to inflammatory hypothesis. Inflammation plays an important role on pathogenesis of atherothrombosis and coronary heart disease (CHD), including acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Although the management of ACS has been demonstrated to be beneficial for secondary prevention of coronary heart disease (such as using statin and aspirin) and also seemed to have positive effect on inflammation, the identification of effective management, specifically targeting inflammation, has been not been comprehensively understood.

Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is one example of an emerging infection with total of 386 district of all province in Indonesia reported having such infection; with cumulative number of HIV infected patient from the year 1987 to 2014 is 150,296 while AIDS is 55,799 patients. The access to care only available for 153,887 patients among all HIV/AIDS patients of whom 70% are eligible for anti-retroviral (ARV) treatment and of these only half adhered to ARV treatment. In addition to that, there is an increased risk of other emerging diseases such as Zika virus, Monkey pox or Hanta pulmonary syndrome since a sporadic cases were reported around the region.

Endocardial biventricular pacing for chronic heart failure patients: Effect on transmural dispersion of repolarization.

Background And Aim: Conventional epicardial cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) can cause fatal arrhythmia associated with increased transmural dispersion of repolarization (TDR). It is unknown whether endocardial biventricular pacing in various locations will decrease TDR and hence the occurrence of fatal arrhythmia. This study aimed to find out the most effective location of endocardial biventricular pacing resulting in the shortest homogenous TDR.

HCV mutation in NS5A-ISDR/PKR-BD region improved the outcome in HCV monoinfection treated with Peg-IFN/RBV. SNP-IL28B polymorphism is predicted to have an effect on HCV quasispecies evolution.

Diagnostic Performance of Calf Circumference, Thigh Circumference, and SARC-F Questionnaire to Identify Sarcopenia in Elderly Compared to Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia's Diagnostic Standard.

Background: sarcopenia is one of many geriatric problems that may lead to major clinical outcomes. Calf and thigh circumference have good correlation with muscle mass, whereas SARC-F questionnaire is very predictive of muscle function. There has not been a study that evaluates the diagnostic performance of calf and thigh circumference in combination with SARC-F questionnaire in detecting sarcopenia.

The Need for a New Cut-off Value to Increase Diagnostic Performance of Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis Compared with Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry to Measure Muscle Mass in Indonesian Elderly.

Background: the use of bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) is affected by the population setting, the type of BIA, and the cut-off point being used. The aim of this study was to determine the diagnostic performance of BIA to measure muscle mass in Indonesian elderly outpatients aged 60 years or more.

Methods: a cross-sectional study was conducted at the Geriatric Clinic of Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital from April to June 2018.

Diagnostic Tools for Sarcopenia: Can We Get Less Expensive and Accurate Methods?

Sarcopenia, as defined by the European Working Group on Sarcopenia (EWGSOP) in Older People is "a progressive and generalized skeletal muscle disorder that is associated with increased likelihood of adverse outcomes including falls, fractures, physical disability, and mortality". The first EWGSOP and Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia used muscle mass to define sarcopenia, which is diagnosed by using Dual-energy X-Ray absorptiometry (DXA). However, the cut-off from several countries in Asian showed different cut-off value for different age groups and BMI.
