Objectives: This study evaluated the efficacy of Polyethylene glycol 4000 for fecal disimpaction in children with cerebral palsy.
Materials & Methods: A randomized control trial study was conducted on children with cerebral palsy between February - March 2017 in the pediatric neurology outpatient clinic Dr. Soetomo Hospital.
Adiponectin is an internally produced bioactive compound with a protective role against the insulin resistance-related diseases. Finding an adiponectin modifier can play a beneficial role in preventing the progression of the diseases, particularly in the prediabetic patients, as a high-risk population. This study was undertaken to examine the effect of dietary sorghum grain for a week on the plasma adiponectin levels in prediabetic patients.

Recently, zero to minimal fluoroscopy (ZMF) approach is introduced to reduce radiation exposure of fluoroscopy. This study compares the feasibility and safety of ZMF approach to fluoroscopy for CIEDs therapy in adults.

Leprosy has been nationally eliminated in Indonesia, but it continues to be a public health problem, with disability contributing to the disease burden. Disability caused by leprosy often results in stigmatization, leading to decreased quality of life. This was a retrospective cross-sectional study using secondary data from primary healthcare centers in one of the districts in the region with the highest number of leprosy patients in Indonesia.

This study aims to investigate cerebral parenchymal and ventricular volume changes after subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) and their potential association with cognitive impairment. 17 patients with aneurysmal SAH (aSAH) and 21 patients with angiographically negative SAH (anSAH) without visually apparent parenchymal loss on conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) were included, along with 76 healthy controls. Volumetric analyses were performed using an automated clinical segmentation and quantification tool.

We investigated whether urinary vascular non-inflammatory molecule-1 (vanin-1), a promising early-onset tubular injury marker, correlates with other established tubular injury markers and is associated with graft failure in kidney transplant recipients (KTR). We measured 24 h urinary vanin-1 excretion in 656 KTR (age 53 ± 13 years, 43% female, estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) 53 ± 21 mL/min/1.73 m) who had undergone kidney transplantation ≥ 1 year.

Myocardial involvement among critically ill patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) often has worse outcomes. An imbalance in the oxygen supply causes the excessive release of pro-inflammatory cytokines, which results in increased ventilation requirements and the risk of death in COVID-19 patients. We evaluated the association between the hs-troponin I levels and global longitudinal strain (GLS) as evidence of myocardial involvement among critical COVID-19 patients.

Background: The use of bedaquiline has been reported to minimize the number of lost to follow-up and fewer rejections from the patients. This study is the first to depict the use of bedaquiline. It aims to provide information related to the profile of the MDR-TB drug regimen in the last 7 years with the treatment outcomes of pulmonary MDR-TB patients at a tertiary referral hospital in East Java.

Dental caries is known as a global public health issue that has been affecting general health apart from its painful nature. Hence, it is undeniable that caries affecting young children or known as early childhood caries, also have an effect on children's general health. One of the interesting findings about caries is that it can also affect child growth and development, specifically on their cognitive and psychomotor ability.

Are we truly losing neurons as we grow older? If yes, why, and how can the lost neurons be replaced or compensated for? Is so-called adult neurogenesis (ANG) still a controversial process, particularly in the human cerebral cortex? How do adult-born neurons -if proven to exist- contribute to brain functions? Is adult neurogenesis a disease-relevant process, meaning that neural progenitor cells are dormant in adulthood, but they may be reactivated, for example, following stroke? Is the earnest hope to cure neurological diseases justifying the readiness to accept ANG claim uncritically? These are all fundamental issues that have not yet been firmly explained. Although it is completely understandable that some researchers believe that we can add new neurons to our inevitably deteriorating brain, the brain regeneration process still possesses intellectually and experimentally diverting views, as until now, there has been significant confusion about the concept of ANG. This paper is not intended to be an extensively analytical review distilling all findings and conclusions presented in the ANG literature.

Objectives: During the second coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) surge, cases increased sharply due to low awareness and compliance with measures to limit disease spread. Health literacy (HL) is an important component of public health initiatives, and schools are potential sources of health education to increase HL via the presentation of COVID-19 educational modules.
Methods: This cross-sectional study involved an online questionnaire administered to students from 5 high schools in Surabaya and Sidoarjo, Indonesia, 6-7 weeks after the start of government-issued directives restricting public gatherings.

Introduction: Urinary fetuin-A has been identified as a biomarker for acute kidney injury and is proposed as a biomarker for early detection of kidney function decline. We investigated whether fetuin-A could serve as a marker of graft failure in kidney transplant recipients (KTRs).
Methods: Data of KTR with a functioning graft ≥1 year that were enrolled in the TransplantLines Food and Nutrition Biobank and cohort study were used.

Background: Patients with low-grade gliomas (LGG) treated with surgery, generally function well and have a favorable prognosis. However, LGG can affect neurocognitive functioning. To date, little is known about social cognition (SC) in these patients, although impaired SC is related to social-behavioral problems and poor societal participation.

Historically, a specific set of symptoms has been related to the rupture and repair of anterior communicating artery (ACoA) aneurysms. These consequences were defined as the 'ACoA syndrome' and included observations of severe memory loss, confabulation and personality or behavioural changes. These observations correspond to neuropsychological impairments in memory, executive functions and social cognition.

Background: Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) patch is commonly used during surgical closure for atrial septal defect (ASD) and ventricular septal defect (VSD). However, this patch has several limitations such as its inability to grow or remodel, especially in children and young adults. To tackle these limitations, we have tried to use fibronectin and human adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hAMSCs) in the PTFE patch.

SAH (subarachnoid hemorrhage) caused by aneurysm rupture has the greatest mortality rate, with nearly 50% of patients unable to survive beyond 1 month after the attack. Anterior choroidal artery (AChA) aneurysms are one of the most difficult to treat among the numerous types of aneurysms. Until now, some neurosurgeons employed shearing while others employed coiling.
