Background: Recent data showed an association between malnutrition and increased all-cause mortality and thromboembolic risk in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). However, the impact of malnutrition on the clinical outcomes for patients undergoing catheter ablation for AF is still debated. Our study aimed to examine this relationship using all existing available data.

Background: About 25% of patients with acute ischemic stroke have lacunar infarct on follow-up imaging. In this secondary analysis from the AcT (Alteplase Compared With Tenecteplase) trial, we assessed if there is variation in safety or efficacy of intravenous thrombolysis by infarct type in patients with no visible occlusion. We also determined if this effect differed between tenecteplase and alteplase.

Given the rise of multidrug-resistant (MDR) Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections, alternative treatments are needed. Anti-pseudomonal phage therapy shows promise, but its clinical application is limited due to the development of resistance and a lack of biofilm penetration. Recently, adjuvants like CaEDTA have shown the ability to enhance the effectiveness of combined antimicrobial agents.

Background: To determine the prognostic value of left atrial strain (LAS) using cardiac magnetic resonance for predicting death, heart failure, and ischemic stroke in patients with known or suspected coronary artery disease with preserved left ventricular systolic function and no prior history of ischemic stroke, heart failure, or atrial fibrillation.
Methods And Results: This retrospective cohort analysis included patients referred for stress cardiac magnetic resonance or myocardial viability studies between September 2017 and December 2019. Patients with impaired left ventricular systolic function (<50%) or a history of atrial fibrillation, stroke, or heart failure were excluded.

Introduction: Atrial fibrillation (AF) and heart failure (HF) commonly coexist, resulting in adverse health and economic consequences such as declining ventricular function, heightened mortality, and reduced quality of life. However, limited information exists on the impact of COVID-19 on AF patients that hospitalized for HF.
Methods: We analyzed the 2020 U.
Introduction: The cardiac pacemaker is indicated for treating various types of bradyarrhythmia, providing lifelong cardiovascular benefits. Recent data showed that COVID-19 has impacted procedure numbers and led to adverse long-term outcomes in patients with cardiac pacemakers. However, the impact of COVID-19 infection on the in-hospital outcome of patients undergoing conventional pacemaker implantation remains unclear.

Background: This investigation delineated the survival rates and transitional probability trends of patients with endometrial cancer. This information is pivotal for optimizing patient management and counseling strategies.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort analysis of patients diagnosed with stage I or II endometrial cancer between November 2006 and October 2012 and those diagnosed with stage III or IV endometrial cancer between January 2012 and May 2017 at Siriraj Hospital, Bangkok, Thailand.
A recent evidence gaps assessment of the clinical, health-related quality of life, and economic burden associated with α-thalassemia is lacking. We conducted a systematic literature review (SLR) following the methodological and reporting requirements of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses and the Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews, using available literature over the past decade. This SLR identified a considerable evidence gap with regard to understanding the current burden of α-thalassemia as evident from paucity of studies published in the past 10 years.

We describe two distinctly different STEC-HUS patients with neurologic involvement successfully managed with eculizumab, and perform a literature review of all published cases. Both patients had complete resolution of neurological symptoms after initiation of eculizumab.

This study investigated the potential of using SARS-CoV-2 viral concentrations in dust as an additional surveillance tool for early detection and monitoring of COVID-19 transmission. Dust samples were collected from 8 public locations in 16 districts of Bangkok, Thailand, from June to August 2021. SARS-CoV-2 RNA concentrations in dust were quantified, and their correlation with community case incidence was assessed.

Small molecules derived from gut microbiota have been increasingly investigated to better understand the functional roles of the human gut microbiome. Microbial metabolites of aromatic amino acids (AAA) have been linked to many diseases, such as metabolic disorders, chronic kidney diseases, inflammatory bowel disease, diabetes, and cancer. Important microbial AAA metabolites are often discovered via global metabolite profiling of biological specimens collected from humans or animal models.

Developing an effective therapy to overcome carbapenemase-positive (CPKp) is an important therapeutic challenge that must be addressed urgently. Here, we explored a Ca-EDTA combination with aztreonam or ceftazidime-avibactam and against diverse CPKp clinical isolates. The synergy testing of this study demonstrated that novel aztreonam-Ca-EDTA or ceftazidime-avibactam-Ca-EDTA combination was significantly effective in eliminating planktonic and mature biofilms , as well as eradicating CPKp infections .

Small intestinal venous abnormalities are an underrecognized condition as an etiology of overt gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding in patients with Turner syndrome. Evidence-based therapeutic options for these lesions are lacking in the published literature. A 47-year-old woman with Turner syndrome with a 30-year course of recurrent GI bleeding was found to harbor diffuse small intestinal venous ectasias through endoscopic imaging.
