Association between job strain and working life expectancy: a longitudinal study of older people in Sweden.

Many European countries have increased retirement ages to address the challenge of population ageing. However, job strain which is the combination of high job demands and low job control may be an obstacle to extending the working lives of older workers. Job strain is associated with poor health and early work exit among older workers, but less is known about whether job strain impacts working life expectancy (WLE)-an increasingly employed summary measure capturing the length of working lives.

Background: Maternal hormonal contraception use has been associated with childhood leukemia risk. However, studies are few and often based on self-reported information.

Methods: Using registry data from Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, we identified 3,183,316 children (born 1996-2018) and followed them from birth until leukemia diagnosis, censoring (death, emigration, other cancer, 20th birthday) or study closure (December 31st, 2017, 2018 or 2020).

Unintended consequences of measures implemented in the school setting to contain the COVID-19 pandemic: a scoping review.

Background: Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, schools were a key setting for intervening with public health and social measures (PHSM) to reduce transmission of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Consequently, there is a need to assess the varied unintended consequences associated with PHSM implemented in the school setting, for students, teachers, and school staff, as well as for families and the wider community. This is an update of a Cochrane scoping review first published in 2022.

Educational Interventions for Haemodialysis Patients in the Transplant Process: A Systematic Review.

Aim: To systematically evaluate empirical studies investigating nursing educational interventions for patients with haemodialysis at the different stages of cadaveric kidney transplantation and synthesise these findings.

Background: Plasma osteopontin (pOPN) is a promising aging-related biomarker among individuals with and without kidney disease. The interaction between sex, pOPN levels, and global and cardiorenal outcomes among older individuals was not previously evaluated.

Methods: In this study we investigated the association of pOPN with 24-month global mortality, major cardiovascular events (MACEs), MACEs + cardiovascular (CV) mortality, and renal decline among older individuals; we also evaluated whether sex modified observed associations.

Effective antiretroviral therapy has extended the life expectancy of people living with HIV and in Western countries, with 50% of individuals in Western countries now aged 50 or older. The aim was to review empirical research on adults who are 60 years or older on their experiences of living with HIV and their healthcare needs. A scoping review with a systematic literature search in Cinahl, Psycinfo and PubMed was performed in February and March 2022.

While Housing First is celebrated for its effectiveness in providing immediate housing to chronically homeless individuals, this model's alignment with neoliberal principles prioritizes cost effectiveness and visible outcomes over comprehensive care. As a harm reduction approach, Housing First often overlooks the underlying mental health and addiction issues that maintain homelessness, resulting in a cycle of dependency rather than long-term recovery.

Purpose: Breast cancer exerts a considerable burden on an individual's health, but also impacts society more broadly through lost work productivity. This study aimed to measure the quality of life and productivity burden among Australian females of working age diagnosed with breast cancer in 2022.

Methods: A Markov lifetable model was simulated twice; the initial simulation followed the progression of Australian females diagnosed with breast cancer in 2022 using current population incidence rates, whilst the second simulation hypothetically assumed there were no females living with breast cancer.

Clinical workload profile of medical physics professionals at particle therapy Centers: a National Survey in Japan.

The current research on staffing models is primarily focused on conventional external photon beam therapy, which predominantly involves using linear accelerators. This emphasizes the need for comprehensive studies to understand better and define specific particle therapy facilities' staffing requirements. In a 2022 survey of 25 particle therapy facilities in Japan with an 84% response rate, significant insights were obtained regarding workload distribution, defined as the product of personnel count and task time (person-minutes), for patient-related tasks and equipment quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC).

Testing the acceptability and feasibility of the lower-risk gambling guidelines in Finland.

Background: The lower risk gambling guidelines (LRGG) represent an evidence-based collaborative effort to provide clear advice to people on the limits of safe gambling consumption.
