Article Synopsis
  • Parental depression negatively affects preschoolers' emotion regulation skills, with heightened pre-mentalizing modes acting as a mediator in this relationship.
  • While parental interest and curiosity didn’t show a moderating effect, parental certainty about mental states served as a protective factor, helping to weaken the impact of depression on child emotion regulation.
  • The study highlights the importance of parental mentalizing in developing children's emotional skills, especially in families dealing with depression.

Introduction: Thailand's Universal Coverage Scheme (UCS) has increased overall healthcare use by offering free healthcare for about 76% of the entire population since it was introduced in 2002. However, a considerable number of beneficiaries have continued to depend on private healthcare, and the low use of the UCS has been cited as a challenge to accomplishing the policy's goal of universal access to healthcare. Thus, this study divided healthcare use into three patterns (self-medication, private providers, and UCS) and investigated the socio-demographic characteristics of non-users of the UCS and their reasons for non-use.

This study addresses the challenge of predicting readmissions in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) by analyzing the predictability of readmissions over short, medium, and long term periods. Using health records spanning 35 years, which included 22,643 patients and 30,938 episodes of care, we focused on the episode of care as a central unit, defined as a referral-discharge cycle that incorporates assessments and interventions. Data pre-processing involved handling missing values, normalizing, and transforming data, while resolving issues related to overlapping episodes and correcting registration errors where possible.

Docetaxel is metabolized by cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4), and is transported by organic anion transporting peptides (OATPs) and ABCB1, and its blood concentration is known to affect the risk of some docetaxel-related adverse drug reactions (ADRs). Thus, the concomitant use of docetaxel with drugs that inhibit or induce these transporters or CYP3A4 requires careful attention. A 58-year-old woman was receiving clarithromycin (400 mg twice daily), rifampicin (450 mg once daily) and ethambutol (500 mg once daily) for nontuberculous mycobacteriosis.

Background: Porcine respiratory disease complex (PRDC) significantly impacts the swine industry worldwide, leading to economic losses due to poor growth performance, reduced feed efficiency, higher medication costs, and adversely affecting pig welfare by causing clinical symptoms such as fever, cough, loss of appetite, lethargy, and dyspnea. Cranio-ventral pulmonary consolidation (CVPC) and pleuritis are the most frequent macroscopic lung lesions observed in PRDC and are indicators of decreased animal welfare. This study aimed to quantify the effects of CVPC and pleurisy on carcass weight, meatiness, and average daily carcass weight gain (ADCWG) in fattening pigs, thereby assessing their impact on both production and welfare.

Background: The microbiome greatly affects health and wellbeing. Evolutionarily, it is doubtful that a host would rely on chance alone to pass on microbial colonization to its offspring. However, the literature currently offers only limited evidence regarding two alternative hypotheses: active microbial shaping by host genetic factors or transmission of a microbial maternal legacy.

Background: In Swedish care for older adults, the use of welfare technology - for example, medicine-dispensing robots and GPS alarms - stimulates ongoing evaluations and negotiations. National policy documents, as well as previous research, indicate that these technologies are expected to improve the quality and efficiency of care but also involve potential or experienced challenges in providing high-quality care and the conditions for care workers - often portrayed as a conflict between political and caring organizational values. More research is thus needed on how the use of welfare technology is justified at central and municipal government levels as well as within care-providing organizations.
