Detailed analysis of failure patterns using deformable image registration in hypopharyngeal cancer patients treated with sequential boost intensity-modulated radiotherapy.

Introduction: Sequential boost intensity-modulated radiotherapy (SQB-IMRT) uses two different planning CTs (pCTs) and treatment plans. SQB-IMRT is a form of adaptive radiotherapy that allows for responses to changes in the shape of the tumour and organs at risk (OAR). On the other hand, dose accumulation with the two plans can be difficult to evaluate.

Hyperfractionated intensity-modulated proton therapy for pharyngeal cancer with variable relative biological effectiveness: A simulation study.

Background: The relative biological effectiveness (RBE) of proton is considered to be dependent on biological parameters and fractional dose. While hyperfractionated photon therapy was effective in the treatment of patients with head and neck cancers, its effect in intensity-modulated proton therapy (IMPT) under the variable RBE has not been investigated in detail.

Purpose: To study the effect of variable RBE on hyperfractionated IMPT for the treatment of pharyngeal cancer.

Purpose: This study sought to explore whether the experience level of the first assistant surgeon influences perioperative organ injuries (ureteral, bladder, and intestinal injuries) in patients undergoing total laparoscopic hysterectomy (TLH) for benign diseases. We defined an experienced surgeon as a surgeon certified by the Skill Qualification Committee of the Japan Society of Gynecologic and Obstetric Endoscopy and Minimally Invasive Therapy or a surgeon with equivalent surgical skills.

Methods: We reviewed our surgical registry database of TLH for benign indications between 2014 and 2020 and only selected cases performed by an experienced primary surgeon.

Acute necrotizing calculous cholecystitis after treatment with ceftriaxone in an elderly patient: a case report.

Background: Ceftriaxone, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic with a long plasma half-life, is widely used to treat various infections. The use of ceftriaxone can sometimes induce biliary sludge or stone formation. Although most cases of ceftriaxone-induced pseudolithiasis are asymptomatic or mild and resolve with discontinuation of the drug, we experienced an elderly case of severe acute necrotizing calculous cholecystitis after administration of ceftriaxone.

We report here the complete genome sequences of three Staphylococcus haemolyticus strains isolated from a mouse fibrotic lung tissue and exhibiting proapoptotic activity on human lung alveolar epithelial cells. The genomes were obtained from a combination of Illumina MiSeq and Oxford Nanopore MinION sequencing.

Methods: We analyzed data collected from 49 732 JAGES participants (23 359 men and 26 373 women), aged ≥65 years, from 24 municipalities in Japan.
