Objective: To demonstrate the therapeutic similarity of CT-P42 compared with reference aflibercept (Eylea) in adult patients with diabetic macular edema (DME).

Design: Randomized, active-controlled, double-masked, phase III clinical trial PARTICIPANTS: Patients with a diagnosis of either type 1 or 2 diabetes mellitus with DME involving the center of the macula.

Methods: Patients were randomized (1:1) to receive either CT-P42 or reference aflibercept (2 mg/0.

Ovarian carcinogenesis can be induced by a large number of somatic gene mutations. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) released into peripheral blood can provide insights into the genomic landscape of cancer cells and monitor their dynamics. Our aim was to detect and compare the genetic profiles in tumor tissue and plasma before and after tumor resection in ovarian cancer patients.

Article Synopsis
  • * This study analyzes six new cases of HK deficiency, identifying six distinct mutations in the HK1 gene, four of which are newly discovered.
  • * The research also confirmed the harmful nature of these mutations through biochemical tests and structural analysis, further enhancing understanding of the disease's underlying mechanisms and the relationship between genotype and phenotype in HK deficiency.

Determination of the causative agent of erythema-like skin lesions in case of nonspecific superficial perivascular dermatitis was supported by histological examination and led to the latter diagnosis of Hyperkeratosis lenticularis perstans (Flegel disease) in patient. The presence of antibodies against Borrelia burgdorferi in patient serum was confirmed by a routine ELISA method and verified by Western blot technique. Skin biopsy and blood specimens were analyzed by PCR and multilocus sequence analysis (MLSA).

Introduction/background: Development of neutralizing inhibitors against factor VIII (FVIII) is a major complication of haemophilia A treatment.

Aim: The ongoing, international, open-label, uncontrolled, observational immune tolerance induction (ObsITI) study evaluates ITI, the standard of care in patients with inhibitors.

Patients/methods: Forty-eight prospective patients in this interim analysis received a single plasma-derived, von Willebrand factor-stabilized, FVIII concentrate (pdFVIII/VWF) for ITI.

Resistance to activated protein C--frequent etiologic factor for venous thrombosis.

The discovery of the resistance to activated protein C (APCR) has provoked a new insight into the etiopathogenesis of venous and arterial thrombosis. APCR is determined in 95% genetically by point mutation in the gene for factor V resulting in substitution of arginine in the position 506 by glutamine. This change makes the activated form of factor V (factor Va) resistant to the cleavage by protein C in the place, where the cleavage takes place most quickly under normal conditions.
