Background: Neuroimaging technology is being developed to enable non-invasive mapping of the latency distribution of cortical projection pathways in white matter, and correlative clinical neurophysiological techniques would be valuable for mutual verification. Interhemispheric interaction through the corpus callosum can be measured with interhemispheric facilitation and inhibition using transcranial magnetic stimulation.
Objective: To develop a method for determining the latency distribution of the transcallosal fibers with transcranial magnetic stimulation.

Biofilm-mediated oral diseases such as dental caries and periodontal disease remain highly prevalent in populations worldwide. Biofilm formation initiates with the attachment of primary colonizers onto surfaces, and in the context of caries, the adhesion of oral streptococci to dentinal collagen is crucial for biofilm progression. It is known that dentinal collagen suffers from glucose-associated crosslinking as a function of aging or disease; however, the effect of collagen crosslinking on the early adhesion and subsequent biofilm formation of relevant oral streptococci remains unknown.

Unlabelled: We aimed to characterize spontaneous cervical artery dissection (CeAD) patients with and without stroke and describe risk factors for cerebrovascular complications in a Chilean prospective cohort.
Methods: Consecutive CeAD patients admitted to a Chilean center confirmed by neuroimaging. Logistic regression was used.
Background: Many different movement disorders have similar "jerk-like" phenomenology and can be misconstrued as myoclonus. Different types of myoclonus also share similar phenomenological characteristics that can be difficult to distinguish solely based on clinical exam. However, they have distinctive physiologic characteristics that can help refine categorization of jerk-like movements.

Background: High adherence to a Mediterranean Diet is associated with reduced incidence and mortality of acute ischemic stroke (AIS) but may also be associated with severity. Our purpose was to investigate the association of adherence to a Mediterranean diet and severity in a prospective hospital register of AIS patients.
Methods: We included AIS patients admitted from February 2017 to July 2019.

Purpose Of Review: The body composition and fat distribution is different between men and women, with different levels of circulating adipokines. These differences become more evident when suffering from an inflammatory disease, such as spondyloarthritris. In this review, we will explore the influence of obesity, body composition and adipokines on the differences in disease activity, progression and response to treatment, between men and women with spondyloarthritis.

Objective: To determine how long it takes for neural impulses to travel along peripheral nerve fibers in living humans.
Methods: A collision test was performed to measure the conduction velocity distribution of the ulnar nerve. Two stimuli at the distal and proximal sites were used to produce the collision.

Under normal conditions, almost all cell types communicate with their neighboring cells through gap junction channels (GJC), facilitating cellular and tissue homeostasis. A GJC is formed by the interaction of two hemichannels; each one of these hemichannels in turn is formed by six subunits of transmembrane proteins called connexins (Cx). For many years, it was believed that the loss of GJC-mediated intercellular communication was a hallmark in cancer development.

Autosomal recessive SOPH syndrome was first described in the Yakuts population of Asia by Maksimova et al. in 2010. It arises from biallelic pathogenic variants in the NBAS gene and is characterized by severe postnatal growth retardation, senile facial appearance, small hands and feet, optic atrophy with loss of visual acuity and color vision, and normal intelligence (OMIM #614800).

RNA editing has emerged as a novel mechanism in cancer progression. The double stranded RNA-specific adenosine deaminase (ADAR) modifies the expression of an important proportion of genes involved in cell cycle control, DNA damage response (DDR) and transcriptional processing, suggesting an important role of ADAR in transcriptome regulation. Despite the phenotypic implications of ADAR deregulation in several cancer models, the role of ADAR on DDR and proliferation in breast cancer has not been fully addressed.

The advantages of using platelet-rich plasma application in anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction remains controversial. However, I think further long-term and better design studies are needed to identify whether the administration of platelet-rich plasma could truly play a beneficial role during anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction.

Several mechanisms directing a rapid transcriptional reactivation of genes immediately after mitosis have been described. However, little is known about the maintenance of repressive signals during mitosis. In this work, we address the role of Ski in the repression of gene expression during M/G transition in mouse embryonic fibroblasts (MEFs).

Long-term care facilities are significant reservoirs of antimicrobial-resistant organisms, and patients with advanced dementia are particularly vulnerable to multidrug-resistant organism (MDRO) acquisition and antimicrobial overuse. In this study, we longitudinally examined a group of patients with advanced dementia using metagenomic sequencing. We found significant inter- and intra-subject heterogeneity in microbiota composition, suggesting temporal instability.

Objective: The back-average technique is very useful to study the relation between the activity in the cortex and the muscles. It has two main clinical applications, Bereitschaftspotential (BP) recording and myoclonus studies. The BP is a slow wave negativity originating in the supplementary motor cortex and premotor cortex that precedes voluntary movements.

Case: A 15-year-old woman with multiple arthroscopic procedures for left lateral discoid meniscus since the age of 9 presented with pain, swelling, and mechanical symptoms. A meniscal allograft transplantation (MAT) and lateral opening-wedge femoral osteotomy was performed. At the 6-year follow-up, the patient presented a visual analog scale (VAS) score of 0, subjective International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) of 88, and Lysholm of 95.

The purpose of this study is to (1) evaluate the clinical characteristics and outcomes of patients who undergo surgery for JOCD in this unusual location as well as (2) assess the association between trochlear JOCD and participation in sporting activities that load the patellofemoral joint.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study of 34 trochlear JOCD lesions in 30 patients.

Objectives: We sought to reclassify disorders with skin fragility, with a focus on EB, based on new clinical and molecular data.
Methods: This was a consensus expert review.

The gold standard for peripheral nerve regeneration uses a sensory autograft to bridge a motor/sensory defect site. For motor nerves to regenerate, Schwann cells (SC) myelinate the newly grown axon. Sensory SCs have a reduced ability to produce myelin, partially explaining low success rates of autografts.

Objective: The electrophysiological classification of tremors can be a key element in the diagnosis and can facilitate treatment of a patient with tremor; however, the ability to conduct electrophysiological studies of tremor is not widely available. The purpose of this study was to develop and validate a free online platform for tremor analysis.
Methods: An online platform for tremor analysis was developed using "R" language; called "Tremoroton".
