Objectives: The management of the facial nerve (FN) is a major issue in parotid cancer, especially when there is no preoperative facial palsy and FN invasion is discovered intraoperatively. The aim of this study was to assess the impact of FN resection in patients with parotid cancer abutting the FN, without pretreatment facial palsy, using a propensity score matching.
Materials And Methods: Data from all patients treated between 2009 and 2020 for a primary parotid cancer abutting or invading the FN but without pretreatment facial palsy were extracted from the national multicentric REFCOR database.

Objectives: The purposes of this study were to assess the evolution of quality of life (QoL) in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) undergoing oncologic surgery and to determine the predictive factors of post-therapeutic QoL.
Methods: All HNSCC patients who underwent primary surgery, between 2012 and 2014, were enrolled in this prospective multicentric study. Patients completed the EORTC QLQ-C30 and QLQ-H&N35 questionnaires before surgery and at 6 months after treatment.

Dysregulation of extracellular matrix (ECM) deposition and cellular metabolism promotes tumor aggressiveness by sustaining the activity of key growth, invasion, and survival pathways. Yet mechanisms by which biophysical properties of ECM relate to metabolic processes and tumor progression remain undefined. In both cancer cells and carcinoma-associated fibroblasts (CAFs), we found that ECM stiffening mechanoactivates glycolysis and glutamine metabolism and thus coordinates non-essential amino acid flux within the tumor niche.

In squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), tissue invasion by collectively invading cells requires physical forces applied by tumor cells on their surrounding extracellular matrix (ECM). Cancer-related ECM is composed of thick collagen bundles organized by carcinoma-associated fibroblasts (CAF) within the tumor stroma. Here, we show that SCC cell collective invasion is driven by the matrix-dependent mechano-sensitization of EGF signaling in cancer cells.

The aims of this study were to evaluate clinical outcomes and to determine their predictive factors in patients with oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma (OCSCC) invading the mandibular bone (T4) who underwent primary radical surgery and fibula free-flap reconstruction. Between 2001 and 2013, all patients who underwent primary surgery and mandibular fibula free-flap reconstruction for OCSCC were enrolled in this retrospective study. Predictive factors of oncologic and functional outcomes were assessed in univariate and multivariate analysis.
