Lifting the temporal and mid-face areas creates a very dynamic change in the facial appearance and different planes of dissection were described before. In this article, a new plane of dissection is described which allows the surgeon to perform a very quick and safe dissection in both the temporal and mid-face regions. Patients were operated on using the presented technique and brow lift, cantopexy, and mid-facelift were performed.

This report presents iatrogenic arteriovenous fistula of superficial temporal vessels after thread brow lift, which emphasizes on consideration of such rare complications during the procedure. A young woman presented with pulsatile mass of scalp after tread brow lift. Color Doppler and duplex sonography of the mass revealed an AVF (arteriovenous fistula) of superficial temporal vessels, a complication that in a few articles has been mentioned.

Fetal malpresentation, malposition, and asynclitism are among the most common determinants of a protracted active phase of labor, arrest of dilatation during the first stage, and arrest of descent in the second stage. The diagnosis of these conditions is traditionally based on vaginal examination, which is subjective and poorly reproducible. Intrapartum sonography has been demonstrated to yield higher accuracy than vaginal examination in characterizing fetal malposition, and some guidelines endorse its use for the verification of the occiput position before performing an instrumental delivery.

Aims: Multiple studies have suggested a likely association between breech presentation and assisted reproductive technology (ART) for conception. The aims were to determine whether conception via in vitro fertilisation (IVF) and ovulation induction (OI) is associated with fetal malpresentation at birth and to ascertain what mediating factors most significantly contribute to fetal malpresentation.
Methods: This whole-population-based cohort study included 355 990 singleton pregnancies born in Queensland, Australia, between July 2012 and July 2018.

Background: A fetal scalp electrode (FSE), first described by Edward Hon in 1967, is an intrapartum monitoring device embedded directly into the fetal scalp for an accurate measure of fetal heart rate. Though use of an FSE is generally safe, complications can occur from misplacement, including ophthalmic injury.
Case Presentation: Patient was a 28-year-old G6P5006 who presented for induction of labor at 39 weeks due to asymptomatic bilateral pulmonary embolism.

Purpose: The presence of eyebrow elevation in anophthalmic patients has been used as evidence to support a proprioceptive stimulus for frontalis innervation. In this study, we examined the frequency of brow elevation before and after enucleation and reviewed additional clinical findings to determine if any were associated with eyebrow position.
Methods: A retrospective study was performed on 134 anophthalmic patients.
Defects involving the glabella and nasal root require an optimal cosmetic outcome due to its critical position in the mid-face. Glabellar defects often involve multiple cosmetic subunits, hair variations, and various skin thicknesses (forehead superiorly, eyebrows / eyelids laterally, nasal root and dorsum inferiorly), further complicating the reconstruction. The eyebrows and natural concavity of this area must be preserved if possible.

Soft tissue lesions of the eyebrow are common and are usually diagnosed as dermoid cysts, pilomatrixomas, inclusion cysts, or basal cell carcinomas. Pleomorphic adenomas are benign glandular lesions most commonly found in the parotid gland or salivary glands, and less commonly found in the lacrimal gland. Here the authors report the case of a 35-year-old male who presented with a prominent soft tissue lesion of his right upper brow.

Testosterone creates several characteristic changes in the upper face. These changes include elevating and squaring the hairline, flattening the central forehead, and increasing the anterior projection of the brow bone and orbital rims. When present, these changes will give a strong masculine characteristic to the face overall.

Purpose: Brow ptosis can interfere with blepharoplasty results and can be corrected using several techniques. The present study was performed to compare two techniques for brow suspension, both with concomitant upper eyelid blepharoplasty.
Method: A prospective, interventional, randomized study involving 27 female patients was performed to compare the effects of two different techniques of brow suspension: eyebrow suspension with nylon thread (ESN) and internal browpexy fixation (IBF), both combined with upper lid blepharoplasty.

Purpose: We aimed to perform a review of facial and periorbital squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) cases to assess the relative incidence of eyelid margin involvement.
Methods: This is a retrospective review of all patients with biopsy-proven SCC who were evaluated at a single oculoplastic surgery practice from 2007 to 2019. The charts were reviewed for the anatomical location of the malignancy, and those involving the eyelid were further divided into marginal and non-marginal lesions.

Pain is common in people living with dementia (PLWD), including those with limited verbal skills. Facial expressions are key behavioral indicators of the pain experience in this group. However, there is a lack of real-world studies to report the prevalence and associations of pain-relevant facial micro-expressions in PLWD.

The aim of this study was to determine how the depressor supercilii (DS) connects to the levator labii superioris alaeque nasi (LLSAN) and inferior fibers of the orbicularis oculi (OOc INF) in the human midface. While grimacing, contraction of the DS with fibers connecting to the LLSAN and OOc INF can assist in pulling the medial eyebrow downward more than when these connecting fibers are not present. Contraction of these distinct connecting fibers between the DS and the LLSAN can also slightly elevate the nasal ala and upper lip.

Chondroid syringoma is a benign mixed tumour arising from the sweat glands which can be apocrine (found throughout the surface of the eyelid) or eccrine with a mean age of presentation being 50 years. Here we report two cases of chondroid syringoma of the upper eyelid, one in a young male patient and the other in an elderly woman. Both cases had well-defined lesions involving upper eyelid in the sub-brow region, underwent excisional biopsy, and histopathological findings were consistent with an apocrine type of chondroid syringoma in one case and eccrine type of chondroid syringoma in the second case.
