Purpose: To evaluate the implant survival rate, mechanical complications, and reported patient outcomes of bone-anchored prostheses for patients with lower limb amputation in France after 1-15 years of follow-up.

Methods: This retrospective cohort study included patients who underwent surgery at a single center in France between 2007 and 2021. The primary outcomes were the implant survival rate and functional scores assessed by the Questionnaire for Transfemoral Amputees (Q-TFA).

The post-traumatic reconstruction of nail bed defects using a homodigital dorsal adipofascial reverse flap.

Hand Surg Rehabil

June 2022

Plastic, Burn and Hand Surgery Departement, FX Michelet Center, Bordeaux University Hospital (Pellegrin Site), Place Amelie Raba-Leon, 33076 Bordeaux, France. Electronic address:

Nail bed defects (NBDs) of the distal phalanx, are common and remain challenging to reconstruct. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical outcome of these post-traumatic injuries treated using a homodigital dorsal adipofascial reverse flap (HDARF). Sixteen patients, averaging 43-years-old, were retrospectively reviewed, who underwent the aforementioned procedure from February 2018 to December 2019.

The Homodigital Propeller Flap: A New Tool for Fingertip Reconstruction. Surgical Technique, Anatomical Study, and Clinical Relevance.

Plast Reconstr Surg

February 2022

From ELSAN, Clinique Belledonne; Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, Hand Surgery and Burns Unit, FX Michelet Center, University Hospital of Bordeaux; Surgery School, University of Bordeaux; Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Department and Burn Unit, University Hospital of Toulouse Rangueil; and Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery Department, Clinique Mutualiste de Pessac.

Background: An ideal flap for fingertip injuries should cover a significant loss of substance and avoid joint flexion to prevent later contracture and joint stiffness. In this study, the authors describe a modified homodigital island flap-the homodigital propeller flap-to better meet these requirements.

Methods: An anatomical model of fingertip loss is used to analyze the advancement achieved without flexion of the finger.

Introduction: Few studies have been conducted to explore the utility of the Integra dermal regeneration template (IDRT) combined with a delayed split-thickness skin graft (STSG) for reconstructing complex dorsal hand, digit, and thumb injuries. This study reports the indications and outcomes for 14 patients treated with this technique via a two-stage process.

Materials And Methods: We retrospectively reviewed all patients treated by IDRT combined with STSG from May 2015 to October 2018.

Introduction: Scrotal rejuvenation is a real male aesthetic demand. Scrotal injection of botulinum toxin makes the testicles smoother, less dangling and subjectively larger.

Methods: Intrascrotal botulinum toxin injections were performed to a 44-year-old patient for aesthetic purposes.

Medial Sural Artery Perforator Flap for Leg and Knee Coverage: Extended Skin Paddle With 2 Perforators.

Ann Plast Surg

December 2020

Department of Plastic, Reconstructive, Aesthetic Surgery and Burns, CHRU Rangueil, Toulouse.

Background: For soft-tissue defect coverage in the lower leg and around the knee joint, the gastrocnemius muscle flap is the most commonly used. Having constant anatomy, a long pedicle, and decreased donor site morbidity, the medial sural artery perforator (MSAP) flap may represent a good reconstructive alternative. The aim of this report was to present the experience of using a dual perforator MSAP pedicled flap.

April 2019

Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Hand Surgery, Burns Unit, FX Michelet Center, University Hospital Bordeaux, Place Amélie Raba-Léon, 33076, Bordeaux, France.

Introduction: Assessment of patient satisfaction following an aesthetic surgery has shown an increasing trend over the past years. To date, there is no prospective and comprehensive study evaluating this aspect after surgical facial and neck rejuvenation. The aim of the current work was to address patient satisfaction after face and neck lift surgery using a validated questionnaire.

Background: The medial triceps brachii is vascularized by the middle collateral artery and the arterial circle of the elbow. This vascularization allows a distal pedicled use to cover soft tissue defects of the elbow. We report our experience using this flap to cover traumatic and postsurgical wounds.

Evaluation of donor site morbidity after medial triceps brachii free flap for lower limb reconstruction.

Arch Orthop Trauma Surg

December 2017

Plastic Surgery and Burns Unit, University Hospital of Bordeaux, FX Michelet Center, Place Amelie Raba Leon, 33076, Bordeaux, France.

Introduction: The medial head of the triceps brachii muscle (MTB)-free flap is an attractive solution to cover small-to-medium defects of the lower limb. This muscular head has no well-identified function, suggesting minimal impact of its removal on elbow mobility. The aim of this study was to evaluate the safety and reliability of the harvest procedure and the functional and cosmetic morbidity of this donor site.

Dorsalis Pedis Adipofascial Perforator flap for great toe reconstruction: anatomical study and clinical applications.

J Plast Reconstr Aesthet Surg

April 2014

Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Unit, University of Messina, Policlinico 'G. Martino', Via Consolare Valeria 1, 98125 Messina, Italy.

Defects of the dorsum of the foot can be challenging to reconstruct, none more so than the dorsum of the toe. The reverse Dorsalis Pedis Adipofascial Perforator (DPAP) flap is one possible reconstructive option for defects in this region. The aim of this study was to first demonstrate the anatomy of this flap, particularly the consistency of the perforators arising from the dorsalis pedis artery.

Management of traumatic soft tissue defects with dermal regeneration template: a prospective study.

Injury

July 2014

Plastic and Burn Surgery Department, FX Michelet Center, Bordeaux Hospital, Bordeaux Segalen University, Place Amelie Raba Leon, 33076 Bordeaux, France. Electronic address:

Introduction: Traumatic soft tissue defect is a common issue for the trauma surgeon. The aim of this study was to evaluate the use of a dermal regeneration template (DRT) associated to a split-thickness skin graft (STSG) to cover severe traumatic wounds involving exposure of deep functional structures.

Materials And Methods: Patients with severe traumatic defects, either open fractures or full-thickness skin wounds involving exposure of tendons without paratenon, bones without periosteum or joints without articular capsule, managed in the authors' trauma centre, were included in a prospective fashion.
