Positron emission tomography (PET) targeting translocator protein 18 kDa (TSPO) can be used for the noninvasive detection of neuroinflammation. Improved in vivo stability of a TSPO tracer is beneficial for minimizing the potential confounding effects of radiometabolites. Deuteration represents an important strategy for improving the pharmacokinetics and stability of existing drug molecules in the plasma.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors are standard-of-care for the treatment of advanced melanoma, but their use is limited by immune-related adverse events. Proteomic analyses and multiplex cytokine and chemokine assays from serum at baseline and at the adverse event onset indicated aberrant T cell activity with differential expression of type I and III immune signatures. This was in line with the finding of an increase in the proportion of CD4 T cells with IL-17A expression at the adverse event onset in the peripheral blood using flow cytometry.

Recent investigations have highlighted, both experimentally and clinically, that probiotic strains equipped with arabinofuranosidase, in particular and , favor regular intestinal motility, thus counteracting constipation. By analyzing the gene expression and the proliferative response in the presence of arabinan of the probiotic W11, a strain previously validated as an anti-constipation probiotic, we have speculated that its response mechanism to arabinan can effectively explain its clinical action. Our approach could be used in the future to select probiotics endowed with arabinofuranosidase-related anti-constipation effects.

RET fusions are relatively rare in Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancers (NSCLCs), being around 1-2% of all NSCLCs. They share the same clinical features as the other fusion-driven NSCLC patients, as follows: younger age, adenocarcinoma histology, low exposure to tobacco, and high risk of spreading to the brain. Chemotherapy and immunotherapy have a low impact on the prognosis of these patients.

The treatment of patients diagnosed with hematologic malignancies typically includes hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) as part of a therapeutic standard of care. The primary graft source of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) for HSCT is mobilized from the bone marrow into the peripheral blood of allogeneic donors or patients. More recently, these mobilized HSPCs have also been the source for gene editing strategies to treat diseases such as sickle-cell anemia.

Study Question: How were the logbook and curriculum for the Nurses and Midwives Certification Programme of ESHRE developed?
Summary Answer: The logbook and corresponding curriculum for the ESHRE Nurses and Midwives Certification Programme were based on an extensive literature review, an international expert panel, and a survey of Belgian and Dutch nurses and midwives (N&M) working in reproductive medicine (RM).
What Is Known Already: ESHRE has been running a certification programme for N&M working in RM since 2015. To the best of our knowledge, clinical practice guidelines for nursing/midwifery care within RM are lacking as is consensus on role descriptors of N&M working in RM.

Background And Objectives: Isolated value of MRI metrics in relapsing multiple sclerosis (RMS) as a surrogate marker of response to disease-modifying treatment (DMT) and, thus, as decision criteria for DMT escalation in the absence of clinical signs of disease activity is still a matter of debate. The aim of this study was to investigate whether DMT escalation based on isolated MRI activity affects clinical outcome.
Methods: Combining data from 5 MS centers in Austria and Switzerland, we included patients with RMS aged at least 18 years who (1) had initiated first-line, low-to-moderate-efficacy DMT (interferon β, glatiramer acetate, teriflunomide, or dimethyl fumarate) continued for ≥12 months, (2) were clinically stable (no relapses or disability progression) on DMT for 12 months, (3) had MRI at baseline and after 12 months on DMT, and (4) had available clinical follow-up for ≥2 years after the second MRI.

Oxygen is essential for normal cellular functions. Hypoxia impacts various cellular processes, such as metabolism, growth, proliferation, angiogenesis, metastasis, tumorigenesis, microbial infection, and immune response, mediated by hypoxia-inducible factors (HIFs). Hypoxia contributes to the progression and development of cancer, cardiovascular diseases, metabolic disorders, kidney diseases, and infections.

Cortically based brain tumors in children constitute a unique set of tumors with variably aggressive biologic behavior. Because radiologists play an integral role on the multidisciplinary medical team, a clinically useful and easy-to-follow flow chart for the differential diagnoses of these complex brain tumors is essential. This proposed algorithm tree provides the latest insights into the typical imaging characteristics and epidemiologic data that differentiate the tumor entities, taking into perspective the 2021 World Health Organization's classification and highlighting classic as well as newly identified pathologic subtypes by using current molecular understanding.

Background: Despite the widespread use of diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) in metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD), MRI acquisition and quantification techniques vary in the literature suggesting the need for established and reproducible protocols. The goal of this study was to assess inter-visit and inter-reader reproducibility of DWI- and IVIM-derived parameters in patients with MAFLD and healthy volunteers using extensive sampling of the "fast" compartment, non-rigid registration, and exclusion voxels with poor fit quality.
Methods: From June 2019 to April 2023, 31 subjects (20 patients with biopsy-proven MAFLD and 11 healthy volunteers) were included in this IRB-approved study.
Background: Pulmonary hypertension (PH) frequently complicates the evaluation of kidney transplantation (KT) candidates, and is associated with increased adverse outcomes (mortality, delayed graft function [DGF], and major adverse cardiovascular event) following KT.
Research Question: What is the relationship between cardiopulmonary hemodynamics and post-KT outcomes?
Study Design And Methods: We conducted a multicenter retrospective cohort study of adults undergoing KT between October 1, 2011 and October 1, 2021, who underwent right heart catheterization (RHC) to assess cardiopulmonary hemodynamics within 1 year of transplantation. Frailty models and logistic regression models were used to evaluate the association between cardiopulmonary hemodynamics and outcomes (mortality, DGF, major adverse cardiovascular event) following KT.

The development of a high-performing adsorbent that can capture both iodine vapor from volatile nuclear waste and traces of iodine species from water is an important challenge, especially in industrially relevant process conditions. This study introduces novel imidazopyridinium-based covalent organic frameworks (COFs) through post-modification of a picolinaldehyde-based imine COF. These COFs demonstrate excellent iodine adsorption capacity, adsorption kinetics, and a high stability/recyclability in both vapor and water phases.
