Human herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6) infection can cause ophthalmic diseases in immunocompetent patients, recipients of bone marrow transplants, and patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). This study describes the case of a healthy 37-year-old male who presented with unilateral anterior uveitis (AU), significant anterior chamber exudation, pupillary membrane closure, increased intraocular pressure, and eyelid edema. Notably, HHV-6A was the only pathogenic agent identified in the blood and aqueous humor.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the potential roles of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress in the development of dry eye disease (DED).
Methods: Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) data from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database, derived from corneal tissues of a dry eye mouse model, was processed using the Seurat R program. The results were validated using a scopolamine-induced dry eye mouse model and a hyperosmotic-induced cell model involving primary human corneal epithelial cells (HCECs) and immortalized human corneal epithelial (HCE-2) cells.

Aim: To establish an animal model of form deprivation amblyopia based on a simulated cataract intraocular lens (IOLs).
Methods: Poly(dimethyl siloxane)-SiO thin films (PSF) with different degrees of opacity as IOL materials were prepared. The light transmission of the PSF-IOL was measured, and its biosafety was determined by cell counting kit (CCK)-8 assay using the HLEC-B3 cell line and ARPE-19 cell line.

Introduction: Sulfatinib is a novel oral tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) with selective inhibition of fibroblast growth factor (FGFR), colony-stimulating factor 1 receptor (CSF-1R) and vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR) 1, 2, and 3. It has been approved for the therapy of neuroendocrine tumors arising in the non-pancreatic (December 2020) and pancreatic (June 2021) glands. Until now, there has no research on the determination of sulfatinib in biological medium by ultra performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) method.

Solid stress, originating from rigid and elastic components of extracellular matrix and cells, is a typical physical hallmark of tumors. Mounting evidence indicates that elevated solid stress drives metastasis and affects prognosis. However, the molecular mechanism of how cancer cells sense solid stress, thereby exacerbating malignancy, remains elusive.

Glaucoma is a leading cause of irreversible visual impairment worldwide, characterized by the progressive death of retinal ganglion cells (RGCs). Deubiquitinating enzyme (DUB) inhibitors have shown promise as pharmacological interventions for neurodegenerative disorders. Our study focuses on the pan-DUB inhibitor PR-619 and its potential neuroprotective effects on RGCs through modulation of parkin-mediated mitophagy in experimental glaucoma models.

Purpose: To investigate the changes in choroidal thickness (ChT), refractive status, and ocular dimensions in the mouse eye in vivo using updated techniques and instrumentation.
Methods: High-resolution swept-source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT), eccentric infrared photoretinoscopy, and custom real-time optical coherence tomography were used to analyze choroidal changes, refractive changes and ocular growth in C57BL/6J mice from postnatal day (P) 21 to month 22.
Results: The ChT gradually increased with age, with the thickest region in the para-optic nerve head and thinning outward, and the temporal ChT was globally thicker than the nasal ChT.

Purpose: To explore the application and potential ferroptosis mechanisms of sonodynamic therapy (SDT) using titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2-NPs) as sonosensitizers for the prevention of posterior capsule opacification (PCO).
Methods: We fabricated TiO2-NP-coated intraocular lenses (TiO2-IOLs) using the spin-coating method, followed by ultrasound activation of the photosensitizer TiO2. In vitro experiments were performed with human lens epithelial cells (HLECs) to explore the appropriate concentration of TiO2 and ultrasonic parameters.

Purpose: Continuous artificial aqueous humor drainage in the eyes of patients with glaucoma undergoing trabeculectomy likely exerts abnormal shear stress. However, it remains unknown how changes in intraocular pressure (IOP) can affect aqueous humor outflow (AHO).
Methods: Here, we induced and maintained low intraocular pressure (L-IOP) in healthy Sprague Dawley (SD) rats by puncturing their eyes using a tube (200-µm diameter) for 2 weeks.

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) changes in subzones of peripapillary atrophy (PPA) among type 2 diabetic patients (T2DM) with or without diabetic retinopathy (DR) using well-designed deep learning models.
Methods: A multi-task joint deep-learning model was trained and validated on 2,820 images to automate the determination and quantification of the microstructure and corresponding microcirculation of beta zone and gamma zone PPA. This model was then applied in the cross-sectional study encompassing 44 eyes affected by non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR) and 46 eyes without DR (NDR).

To analyze the current situation of myopia and its related factors among primary school students in a certain district of Beijing City in 2022, and provide a basis for the risk assessment of myopia among primary school students. In June 2022, a cluster sampling method was used to include 376 third-grade students from a primary school in a certain district of Beijing. A questionnaire survey was conducted to collect basic information about students, including eye usage habits, reading and writing postures, and parents' myopia conditions.
