Purpose: We aimed to evaluate the efficacy of gentamicin compared to corticosteroids for the treatment of Meniere's disease.
Methods: An extensive search was conducted in PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science until May 2024. For continuous outcomes, pooled effect estimates were determined by calculating the weighted mean difference (WMD), while for binary outcomes, the risk ratio (RR) was used, each accompanied by their respective 95% confidence intervals (CIs).

Background: Jinwei decoction can enhance the anti-inflammatory effect of glucocorticoid (GC) on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) by restoring the activity of human histone deacetylase-2 (HDAC2). However the upstream mechanism of Jinwei decoction on HDAC2 expression is not clear.
Objective: To explore the target of Jinwei decoction to enhance the anti-inflammatory effect of GC on COPD through microRNA155-5p (miR-155-5p) by network pharmacology and experimental verification.

Background: Diabetic Macular Edema (DME) significantly impairs vision in diabetics, with varied patient responses to current treatments like anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) therapy underscoring the necessity for continued research into more effective strategies. This study aims to evaluate global research trends and identify emerging frontiers in DME to guide future research and clinical management.
Methods: A qualitative and quantitative analysis of publications related to diabetic macular edema retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) between its inception and September 4, 2023, was conducted.

Objective: This trial aimed to study the efficacy of articaine in pain management during endodontic procedures in pediatric patients.
Methods: Ninety-eight children who received endodontic painless treatment were collected and randomly divided into the control group and observation group, with 49 cases in each group. The control group received infiltration anesthesia with lidocaine, and the observation group received infiltration anesthesia with articaine.
Background: Internal carotid artery stenosis (ICAS) is a prevalent vascular condition associated with ischemic cerebrovascular disease. The ophthalmic artery is the first branch of the internal carotid artery stenosis (ICA). Given the crucial role of the ICA in ocular perfusion, we aimed to assess the thickness and vessel density of the retina and choroid in individuals with ICAS.

Exosomes are a subtype of extracellular vesicles composed of bioactive molecules, including nucleic acids, proteins, and lipids. Exosomes are generated by the fusion of intracellular multivesicular bodies (MVBs) with the cell membrane and subsequently released into the extracellular space to participate in intercellular communication and diverse biological processes within target cells. As a crucial mediator, exosomes have been implicated in regulating ferroptosis-an iron-dependent programmed cell death characterized by lipid peroxide accumulation induced by reactive oxygen species.

Constructing a synergistic multiple-modal antibacterial platform for multi-drug-resistant (MDR) bacterial eradication and effective treatment of infected wounds remains an important and challenging goal. Herein, we developed a multifunctional Cu/Mn dual single-atom nanozyme (Cu/Mn-DSAzymes)-based synergistic mild photothermal/nanocatalytic-therapy for a MDR bacterium-infected wound. Cu/Mn-DSAzymes with collaborative effects exhibit remarkable dual CAT-like and OXD-like enzyme activities and could efficiently catalyze cascade enzymatic reactions with a low level of HO as an initial reactant to produce reparative O and lethal ˙O.

Sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL) can present as sudden hearing loss within 72 hours. Studies have shown that viral infection, including direct invasion, indirect reactions, stress responses, and immune-mediated hearing loss, is the main cause of SSNHL. Viral infection may play an important role in SSNHL by causing injury to the inner ear through blood or cerebrospinal fluid.

Older individuals with macular diseases, such as age-related macular degeneration, experience central vision loss (CVL) due to degeneration of their photoreceptors and retinal cells. Patients with CVL may experience various vision impairments, including of visual acuity, fixation stability, contrast sensitivity, and stereoacuity. After CVL, most patients develop a preferred retinal locus outside the affected macular region, which serves as a new visual reference.
