Polydipsia Induced Acute Angle-Closure Crisis.

We present a case of Acute Angle-Closure Crisis (AACC) precipitated by primary transient psychogenic polydipsia; we believe that our case is the first of its kind to be reported. A 74-year-old male presented to the emergency department with altered mental status due to acute-onset hyponatremia. Six days after admission, the patient noticed painful loss of vision in his right eye and an ipsilateral headache lasting 10-15 minutes.

Cognitive Impairment in Primary Open Angle Glaucoma: A Case Control Study.

Prcis: Cognitive impairment in multiple domains was observed in primary open angle glaucoma patients as compared to age and gender matched healthy controls.

Ophthalmic abnormalities observed in RVED-affected ECS include lipofuscin granule deposition within the tapetal fundus and subsequent retinal degeneration resulting in visual deficits. Affected dogs may also exhibit neurological signs that include ataxia and hindlimb proprioceptive deficit.

Background: Deficiency of adiponectin and its downstream signaling may contribute to the pathogenesis of kidney injury in type 2 diabetes. To improve the quality and yield of the Korean beef industry, selection criteria often focus on estimated breeding values for carcass weight (CWT), eye muscle area (EMA), backfat thickness (BF), and marbling score (MS). This study estimated genetic parameters and assessed the accuracy of genomic estimated breeding values (GEBVs) using SNP weighting methods. We compared the accuracy of these methods with the genomic best linear unbiased prediction (GBLUP) and various Bayesian approaches (BayesA, BayesB, BayesC, and BayesCPi) for the specified traits.

Methods: A cross-sectional study involved 601 individuals born between the years 1933-1956. Ocular surface health and dry eye disease (DED) were clinically evaluated using several diagnostic tests.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the role of SIRT4 in retinal protection, specifically its ability to mitigate excitotoxic damage to Müller glial cells through the regulation of mitochondrial dynamics and glutamate transporters (GLASTs).

The contribution of sex hormones to cardiovascular disease, including arterial stiffness, is established; however, the role of sex chromosome interaction with sex hormones, particularly in women, is lagging. Arterial structural stiffness depends on the intrinsic properties and transmural wall geometry that comprise a network of cells and extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins expressed in a sex-dependent manner. In this study, we used four-core genotype (FCG) mice to determine the relative contribution of sex hormones versus sex chromosomes or their interaction with arterial structural stiffness.

Comparative Evaluation of 4% Articaine and 2% Lignocaine Anesthetic Agents in Children: A Split-mouth Randomized Control Trial.

Aim: The objective of the present study is to assess and compare the effectiveness of two different anesthetic agents, namely, 4% articaine and 2% lignocaine, in the extraction of primary molar teeth in children.

Materials And Methods: The study included 25 children requiring bilateral extractions of primary molar, with extraction performed on one side with 4% articaine and the contralateral side extraction with 2% lignocaine at two separate appointments. Background and objective Retrobulbar block is commonly used for providing effective anesthesia and akinesia for ophthalmic surgery. It can, however, lead to sight-threatening retrobulbar hemorrhage in very rare cases. The aim of this study was to evaluate retrobulbar block quality, to determine the prevalence of retrobulbar hemorrhage associated with these blocks, and to assess whether the use of antithrombotic agents in patients undergoing retrobulbar block for ophthalmic surgery was associated with retrobulbar hemorrhage.
