The methodological and reporting characteristics of Campbell reviews: A systematic review.

Background: The Campbell Collaboration undertakes systematic reviews of the effects of social and economic policies (interventions) to help policymakers, practitioners, and the public to make well-informed decisions about policy interventions. In 2010, the Cochrane Collaboration and the Campbell Collaboration developed a voluntary co-registration policy under the rationale to make full use of the shared interests and diverse expertise from different review groups within these two organizations. In order to promote the methodological quality and transparency of Campbell intervention reviews, the Methodological Expectations of Campbell Collaboration Intervention Reviews (MECCIR) were introduced in 2014 to guide Campbell reviewers.

A systematic review was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of qigong as a treatment for chronic pain. Five electronic databases were searched from their date of establishment until July 2014. The review included 10 randomized clinical trials (RCTs) that compared the impacts of qigong on chronic pain with waiting list or placebo or general care.

Investigating the effect of transcendental meditation on blood pressure: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Some evidence from previous randomized controlled trials and systematic reviews has demonstrated a positive association between hypertension and transcendental meditation (TM). However, other trials and reviews showed the effect of TM on blood pressure (BP) was unclear but did not use subgroup analysis to rigorously investigate this relationship. The American Heart Association has stated that TM is potentially beneficial but did not give a standard indication.

Evidence-based practice in the health and social services in China: developments, strategies, and challenges.

For the past decade, healthcare professionals and decision makers in China have made efforts to promote the development of evidence-based practice (EBP) in medicine and health services. In recent years, attention has been given to the use of EBP among other nonmedical fields, such as social work and education. The purpose of this article is to explore the current and the future development of EBP in health and social services in China.

Accelerated partial breast irradiation for breast cancer: a meta-analysis.
