Functional and structural change of corpus luteum through the cascade of several genes in the ovary leads to ovulation and pregnancy. In most mammals, the absence of pregnancy leads to the disintegration of the corpus luteum. In the ovary of cetaceans, the regression of the corpus luteum gets delayed and persists on the surface as scars (corpus albicans).
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAngiotensin converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) and main protease (M) are significant target proteins, mainly involved in the attachment of viral genome to host cells and aid in replication of severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronaviruses or SARS-CoV genome. In the present study, we identified 11 potent bioactive compounds from ethanolic leaf extract of (L.) by using GC-MS analysis.

The neoteric severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has been jeopardizing the world with the symptoms of seasonal flu. The virus contagion predicted to have been originated from Wuhan, China has by far trapped 4,198,418 cases from 212 countries in the world with two international conveyances with 284,102 deaths as of 11 May 2020 (10:18 GMT). Researchers around the globe have indulged in deciphering viral mode in the body for devising a cure.

Rett syndrome (RTT) is a stern dominant progressive neurological development disorder linked with X chromosome ranking second for mental slowdown, exclusively in females after few months of birth with normal development and growth period. Genetically any defects in universally expressed methyl-CpG binding protein 2 (MeCP2) transcription regulator gene are considered as radix for RTT in almost all the previous studies. Our study mainly focuses in unraveling the genetic alterations like identifying MeCP2 gene polymorphisms, chromosomal abnormalities, or X-chromosome inactivation (XCI) as underlying cause of RTT in prototypes sorted through Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-Text Revised (DSM IV).

Background: The present investigation of genotoxicity of lead (Pb) among workers exposed to inorganic Pb environment, which appears to be first of its kind in South India, was undertaken to assess the seriousness, the ill effects of health contributed by this serious environmental pollutant.
Methods: A total of 144 samples comprising of exposed (n=72), and control (n=72) subjects were screened. Demographic data and their associated health levels were undertaken by means of a questionnaire.

Cerebrolysin is a neuropeptide preparation mimicking the action of endogenous neurotrophic factors. Positive effects of Cerebrolysin on β-amyloid- and tau-related pathologies, neuroinflammation, neurotrophic factors, oxidative stress, excitotoxicity, neurotransmission, brain metabolism, neuroplasticity, neuronal apoptosis and degeneration, neurogenesis and cognition were demonstrated in experimental conditions. These pleiotropic effects of Cerebrolysin on Alzheimer's disease-related pathogenic events are consistent with a neurotrophic-like mode of action, and seems to involve the activation of the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/Akt/glycogen synthase kinase-3 β intracellular signaling pathway.

Treatment with neurotrophic agents might enhance and/or prolong the effects of cholinesterase inhibitors (ChEIs) in Alzheimer's disease (AD). We compared the safety and efficacy of the neurotrophic compound Cerebrolysin (10 ml; n=64), donepezil (10 mg; n=66) and a combination of both treatments (n=67) in mild-to-moderate (mini-mental state examination-MMSE score 12-25) probable AD patients enrolled in a randomized, double-blind trial. Primary endpoints were global outcome (Clinician's Interview-Based Impression of Change plus caregiver input; CIBIC+) and cognition (change from baseline in AD Assessment Scale-cognitive subscale+; ADAS-cog+) at week 28.

Background: cerebrolysin is a neuropeptide preparation mimicking the effects of neurotrophic factors. This subgroup analysis assessed safety and efficacy of Cerebrolysin in patients with moderate to moderately severe Alzheimer's disease (AD) (ITT data set: N = 133; MMSE: 14-20) included in a dose-finding study (ITT data set: N = 51; MMSE: 14-25). Results of the mild AD subgroup (ITT data set: N = 118; MMSE: 21-25) are also presented.

According to current scientific knowledge, excess tumour necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and low insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) are pathogenic-risk factors that constitute therapeutic targets for Alzheimer's disease (AD). Changes in serum TNF-α, total and dissociable IGF-I levels were determined by ELISA in 207 AD patients completing a 24-wk, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial to evaluate the effects of the neurotrophic compound Cerebrolysin (Cere: 10, 30 or 60 ml for 12 wk). At week 24, Cere reduced TNF-α and enhanced dissociable IGF-I with respect to placebo in a dose-related manner.

Cerebrolysin (Cere) is a compound with neurotrophic activity shown to be effective in Alzheimer's disease in earlier trials. The efficacy and safety of three dosages of Cere were investigated in this randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, study. Two hundred and seventy-nine patients were enrolled (69 Cere 10 ml; 70 Cere 30 ml; 71 Cere 60 ml and 69 placebo).
