Objective: The aim of this study was to research the rates of diabetes mellitus (DM) and the risk factors that may play a role in the prediction of this condition by evaluating patients with the diagnosis of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) at the 6(th)-12(th) postpartum months.

Material And Method: Among 109 cases who had been invited to the hospital for oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) at the 6(th)-12(th) postpartum months, 84 cases (77%) were enrolled in the study. To the 78 patients that were found to be appropriate according to the study criteria, 75 gr OGTT was administered.

Objective: To compare the blood loss and power Doppler ultrasonographic characteristics of uterine artery blood flow after 2 different techniques of internal iliac artery ligation prior to extensive myomectomy.

Study Design: A randomized, double-blind study was conducted in a tertiary referral center. Either bilateral ligation of the anterior branch of the internal iliac artery (group I, n = 14) or ligation 2 cm proximal to its bifurcation (group II, n = 14) was performed.

This study was designed to clarify whether the structure of multifilament tape or the surgical technique is associated with vaginal erosions. Patients were randomized into two groups: in group 1, formed from the patients who were operated with the technique "setting the tape loosely leaving a scissor tip gap between the tape and the urethra," and in group 2, formed from the patients who were operated with the technique "setting the tape actually touched the urethra and covering the tape by the adjacent pubocervicovaginal fascia with the aid of a suture." After 4-year follow-up, it was found that the erosion rate was very high in group 1 (13.

Objectives: To evaluate cases of partial hydatidiform mole coexisting with a live fetus, including an observation of our own, and to discuss the proper antenatal management of women wishing to continue with a partial molar pregnancy.

Method: A PubMed search was then undertaken, extending over the time period from 1975 to 2006, using the keywords 'partial hydratidiform mole', 'hydatidiform mole' and 'coexisting fetus'.

Results: At 16 weeks of gestation, an ultrasonographic examination revealed a normal fetus with an extremely large, multicystic placenta.

Aims And Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate patients with metastatic ovarian tumors from extragenital primary sites.

Methods: The medical records of 75 patients were reviewed retrospectively for age at diagnosis, presenting symptoms, preoperative tumor marker levels, preoperative diagnostic workup, operative technique, intraoperative evaluation, frozen-section and pathology results, laterality of metastasis, and primary tumor site. The specific impact of metastasis from colorectal and gastric primary sites on laterality, gross features and dimensions of ovarian mass, volume of ascites and tumor marker levels was investigated.

The objective of this paper is to investigate whether Helicobacter pylori is an etiologic factor in hyperemesis gravidarum. Thirty one patients with hyperemesis gravidarum and twenty nine pregnant controls without hyperemesis gravidarum were included in this prospective study. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and toxicity of EMA/CO (etoposide, methotrexate, actinomycin D, cyclophosphamide, vincristine) regimen for the treatment of high-risk gestational trophoblastic neoplasia (GTN). Thirty-three patients with high-risk GTN, scored according to World Health Organization, received 159 EMA/CO treatment cycles between 1994 and 2004. Twenty-three patients were treated primarily with EMA/CO, and 10 patients were treated secondarily after failure of single agent or MAC (methotrexate, actinomycin D, cyclophosphamide, or clorambucile) III chemotherapy.

Objective: Our aim was to investigate the changes in menstrual pattern, ovarian reserve and presence of dysmenorrhea and ovulation after tubal ligation via bipolar electrocautery.

Methods: Sixty patients requesting voluntary tubal ligation were recruited in the study. Laparoscopic tubal sterilization via bipolar electrocoagulation was performed in all patients in the early follicular phase.

Background/aim: To compare the changes in uterine and ovarian artery blood flow following laparoscopic sterilization via bipolar cautery with Pomeroy tubal ligation via mini-laparotomy in patients who had voluntary surgical sterilization.

Methods: Ninety consecutive fertile women applying for voluntary tubal ligation were recruited in this prospective study. Patients were allocated for either laparoscopic tubal ligation via bipolar electrocoagulation (group 1) or Pomeroy tubal ligation via mini-laparotomy (group 2) according to their preference.

Background: To determine the effectiveness of a population-based risk factor scoring to decrease unnecessary testing for the diagnosis of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM).

Methods: We formed a risk factor scoring over five, which questions maternal age, body mass index and first-degree relatives with a diagnosis of diabetes mellitus, a prior macrosomic fetus and adverse outcome during the previous pregnancies. All participants underwent a 50-g glucose challenge test (GCT) followed by a 100-g oral glucose tolerence test (OGTT).
