The value of dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) in the detection of prostate cancer is controversial. There are currently insufficient peer reviewed published data or expert consensus to support routine adoption of DCE-MRI for clinical use. Thus, the objective of this study was to explore the optimal temporal resolution and measurement length for DCE-MRI to differentiate cancerous from normal prostate tissue of the peripheral zone of the prostate by non-parametric MRI analysis and to compare with a quantitative MRI analysis.

Objective: species are responsible for fungal diseases and the development of nosocomial bloodstream infections. Treatment is resource-intensive and economically challenging for healthcare systems. Cost analyses of drugs against candidiasis, such as rezafungin, are thus of great interest to healthcare payers.

Although the best-known spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs) are triplet repeat diseases, many SCAs are not caused by repeat expansions. The rarity of individual non-expansion SCAs, however, has made it difficult to discern genotype-phenotype correlations. We therefore screened individuals who had been found to bear variants in a non-expansion SCA-associated gene through genetic testing, and after we eliminated genetic groups that had fewer than 30 subjects, there were 756 subjects bearing single-nucleotide variants or deletions in one of seven genes: CACNA1A (239 subjects), PRKCG (175), AFG3L2 (101), ITPR1 (91), STUB1 (77), SPTBN2 (39), or KCNC3 (34).

With many viable strategies in the therapeutic pipeline, upcoming clinical trials in hereditary and sporadic degenerative ataxias will benefit from non-invasive MRI biomarkers for patient stratification and the evaluation of therapies. The MRI Biomarkers Working Group of the Ataxia Global Initiative therefore devised guidelines to facilitate harmonized MRI data acquisition in clinical research and trials in ataxias. Recommendations are provided for a basic structural MRI protocol that can be used for clinical care and for an advanced multi-modal MRI protocol relevant for research and trial settings.

Pancreas transplantation is the only curative treatment for patients with complicated diabetes, and organ shortage is a common and increasing problem. Strategies to expand the donor pool are needed, and normothermic perfusion of the pancreas has the potential to test and repair grafts before implantation. Between January 2021 and April 2022, six human pancreases, declined for transplantation or islet isolation, were perfused using a previously established method by our group.

Early-on post kidney transplantation, there is a high risk of graft rejection and opportunistic viral infections. A low tacrolimus concentration/dose (C/D) ratio as a surrogate marker of fast tacrolimus metabolism has been established for risk stratification 3 months post-transplantation (M3). However, many adverse events occurring earlier might be missed, and stratification at 1 month post-transplantation (M1) has not been investigated.

The forkhead family transcription factor (FOXP3) is an essential regulator for the development of regulatory T cells (Tregs) and orchestrates both suppressive function and Treg lineage identity. Stable expression of FOXP3 enables Tregs to maintain immune homeostasis and prevent autoimmunity. However, under pro-inflammatory conditions, FOXP3 expression in Tregs can become unstable, leading to loss of suppressive function and conversion into pathogenic T effector cells.

Background: Approximately 10%-20% of prostate cancers progress to metastatic and castration-resistant forms (mCRPC). Radioligand (RLT) therapy with [ Lu]Lu-prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) is an emerging treatment for metastasized mCRPC and its efficacy is assessed not only but also by prostate specific antigen (PSA) measurement after 12 weeks or more after treatment. Our aim was to evaluate the role of early PSA measurement after RLT in predicting overall survival (OS) of mCRPC patients.

The degenerative ataxias comprise a heterogeneous group of inherited and acquired disorders that are characterized by a progressive cerebellar syndrome, frequently in combination with one or more extracerebellar signs. Specific disease-modifying interventions are currently not available for many of these rare conditions, which underscores the necessity of finding effective symptomatic therapies. During the past five to ten years, an increasing number of randomized controlled trials have been conducted examining the potential of different non-invasive brain stimulation techniques to induce symptomatic improvement.

The role of the cerebellum in emotional control has gained increasing interest, with studies showing it is involved in fear learning and memory in both humans and rodents. This review will focus on the contributions of the cerebellum to the extinction of learned fear responses. Extinction of fearful memories is critical for adaptive behaviour, and is clinically relevant to anxiety disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder, in which deficits in extinction processes are thought to occur.

Introduction: Esophagectomy is the mainstay of esophageal cancer treatment, but anastomotic insufficiency related morbidity and mortality remain challenging for patient outcome. Therefore, the objective of this work was to optimize anastomotic technique and gastric conduit perfusion with hyperspectral imaging (HSI) for total minimally invasive esophagectomy (MIE) with linear stapled anastomosis.
Material And Methods: A live porcine model (n = 58) for MIE was used with gastric conduit formation and simulation of linear stapled side-to-side esophagogastrostomy.

Purpose: Radiotherapy (RT) is associated with improved survival in atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumor (ATRT); however, optimal RT delivery is unknown. A meta-analysis was conducted for disseminated (M+) ATRT receiving focal or craniospinal radiation (CSI).
Methods: After abstract screening, 25 studies (1995-2020) contained necessary patient, disease, and radiation treatment information (N = 96).

Introduction: Rejection remains the main cause of allograft failure in paediatric kidney transplantation and is driven by donor-recipient HLA mismatching. Modern computational algorithms enable assessment of HLA mismatch immunogenicity at the molecular level (molecular-mismatch, molMM). Whilst molMM has been shown to correlate with alloimmune outcomes, evidence demonstrating improved prediction performance against traditional antigen mismatching (antMM) is lacking.

The immunosuppressive non-classical human leukocyte antigen-G (HLA-G) can elicits pro-viral activities by down-modulating immune responses. We analysed soluble forms of HLA-G, IL-6 and IL-10 as well as on immune effector cell expression of HLA-G and its cognate ILT-2 receptor in peripheral blood obtained from hospitalised and convalescent COVID-19 patients. Compared with convalescents (N = 202), circulating soluble HLA-G levels (total and vesicular-bound molecules) were significantly increased in hospitalised patients (N = 93) irrespective of the disease severity.

Respiratory rate (RR) is an often underestimated and underreported vital sign with tremendous clinical value. As a predictor of cardiopulmonary arrest, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) exacerbation or indicator of health state for example in COVID-19 patients, respiratory rate could be especially valuable in remote long-term patient monitoring, which is challenging to implement. Contactless devices for home use aim to overcome these challenges.

Purpose: Multimodal endovascular therapy (EVT) of carotid cavernous fistula (CCF) with different approaches and a variety of available embolization material enable high occlusion rates with good clinical and functional outcome but until now there is still little evidence available. This retrospective single-center study aims to evaluate EVT of CCF with different neuroendovascular techniques regarding occlusion rates, complications and outcomes.
Materials And Methods: From 2001 to 2021 59 patients with CCF were treated at our tertiary university hospital.

Understanding cerebellar alterations due to healthy aging provides a reference point against which pathological findings in late-onset disease, for example spinocerebellar ataxia type 6 (SCA6), can be contrasted. In the present study, we investigated the impact of aging on the cerebellar nuclei and cerebellar cortex in 109 healthy controls (age range: 16 - 78 years) using 3 Tesla magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Findings were compared with 25 SCA6 patients (age range: 38 - 78 years).
