Objectives: Hyponatremia and atrial fibrillation (AF) have been established as strong predictors for worse clinical outcomes in patients with heart failure (HF). However, little is known about hyponatremia in relation to the occurrence of AF. This study aims to investigate the possible relationship between hyponatremia and AF in patients with chronic HF and reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF).

Pupillometry as a Screening Tool to Detect Pseudoexfoliation Syndrome.

As patients with pseudoexfoliation (PEX) have an increased risk for thrombotic events, clot-forming dysfunction may play a role. The aim of this study is to compare ROTEM findings in PEX syndrome patients with age-matched and sex-matched healthy controls.

Our aim was to evaluate the relationship between the success of methotrexate treatment and β-hCG levels in progressive tubal ectopic pregnancies. We defined a retrospective cohort of 394 progressive tubal ectopic pregnancy patients treated with methotrexate. A single-dose methotrexate protocol using 50 mg/m(2) was administered to patients with progressive tubal ectopic pregnancy.

Airway injury may occur during the use of any instrumentation in premature infants. A surgical approach for the treatment of lung perforation in extremely low-birth-weight infants has been recommended in the past. Here, we present a case of lung perforation in an ex-28-week, 730-g premature infant, who sustained lung perforation, secondary to an 8-Fr suction catheter used to administer surfactant, in which the broken catheter was retained in the airway.

Evaluating coagulation disorders in the use of bevacizumab for metastatic colorectal cancer by thrombelastography.

The aim of this study was to evaluate coagulation disorders in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer treated with bevacizumab by using rotation thrombelastogram (ROTEM(®)) and correlate ROTEM(®) parameters with routine coagulation tests. A total of 18 colorectal cancer patients who received bevacizumab combined with chemotherapy were included.
