Functional and Anatomical Testing in Intermediate Risk Chest Pain Patients with a High Coronary Calcium Score: Rationale and Design of the FACC Study.

Current guidelines do not recommend coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) in patients with high levels of coronary calcium, as severe calcification leads to difficulties in estimating stenosis severity due to blooming artifacts obscuring the vessel lumen. Whether the CCTA-derived fractional flow reserve (FFRCT) improves the diagnostic performance of CCTA in patients with high levels of coronary calcification has not been sufficiently evaluated. We hypothesize that a noninvasive diagnostic strategy using FFRCT will perform comparably to an invasive diagnostic strategy in the detection of hemodynamically significant coronary artery disease (CAD) in clinical stable chest pain patients with high levels of coronary calcium.

Venous thromboembolism in chronic lymphocytic leukemia: a Danish nationwide cohort study.

Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is associated with inferior survival in cancer patients. The risk of VTE and its effect on survival in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) patients remains unclear. The present study investigated the impact of patient-related factors, CLL prognostic markers, and CLL treatment on the risk of VTE and assessed overall survival relative to VTE.

To switch or not to switch: results of a nationwide guideline of mandatory switching from originator to biosimilar etanercept. One-year treatment outcomes in 2061 patients with inflammatory arthritis from the DANBIO registry.

Objectives: Real-world evidence on effectiveness of switching to biosimila r etanercept is scarce. In Denmark, a nationwide guideline of mandatory switch from 50 mg originator (ETA) to biosimilar (SB4) etanercept was issued for patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and axial spondyloarthritis (AxSpA) in 2016. Clinical characteristics and treatment outcomes were studied in ETA-treated patients, who switched to SB4 (switchers) or maintained ETA (non-switchers).

Surfactant protein-D, a potential mediator of inflammation in axial spondyloarthritis.

Objectives: Surfactant protein-D (SP-D), an innate immune defence molecule of the collectin family, is expressed in lungs and additional extrapulmonary epithelia. SP-D has immune modulatory and anti-microbial effects depending on its oligomerization. The ratio of high molecular weight (HMW): low molecular weight (LMW) SP-D in serum is mainly determined by the Met11Thr polymorphism (SNP rs721917).

An intact and dynamic microtubule cytoskeleton is crucial for the development, differentiation, and maintenance of the mammalian cortex. Variants in a host of structural microtubulin-associated proteins have been identified to cause a wide spectrum of malformations of cortical development and alterations of microtubule dynamics have been recognized to cause or contribute to progressive neurodegenerative disorders. TBCD is one of the five tubulin-specific chaperones and is required for reversible assembly of the α-/β-tubulin heterodimer.

Immunoparesis in newly diagnosed Multiple Myeloma patients: Effects on overall survival and progression free survival in the Danish population.

Immunoparesis (hypogammaglobulinemia) is associated to an unfavorable prognosis in newly diagnosed Multiple myeloma (MM) patients. However, this finding has not been validated in an unselected population-based cohort. We analyzed 2558 newly diagnosed MM patients in the Danish Multiple Myeloma Registry representing the entire MM population in Denmark from 2005-2013.

Screening for late-onset Pompe disease in western Denmark.

Objective: Late-onset Pompe disease (LOPD) is a rare autosomal recessively inherited metabolic myopathy caused by reduced activity of the lysosomal enzyme alpha-glucosidase. In a previous screening study at two large neuromuscular university clinics in Denmark, three patients with LOPD were identified out of 103 patients screened. No systematic screening has been performed at the other neurological departments in the western part of Denmark.

The impact of comorbidity on mortality in multiple myeloma: a Danish nationwide population-based study.

To describe the prevalence of comorbidity and its impact on survival in newly diagnosed multiple myeloma patients compared with population controls. Cases of newly diagnosed symptomatic multiple myeloma during the 2005-2012 period were identified in the Danish National Multiple Myeloma Registry. For each myeloma patient, 10 members of the general population matched by age and sex were chosen from the national Civil Registration System.

A nationwide non-medical switch from originator infliximab to biosimilar CT-P13 in 802 patients with inflammatory arthritis: 1-year clinical outcomes from the DANBIO registry.

Objectives: According to guidelines, a nationwide non-medical switch from originator (INX, Remicade) to biosimilar infliximab (Remsima, CT-P13) was conducted in Danish patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and axial spondyloarthritis (AxSpA). We investigated disease activity before/after switching and retention rates in the DANBIO registry.

Methods: Disease activities 3 months before and after switch and changes over time were calculated.

Type I and III collagen turnover is increased in axial spondyloarthritis and psoriatic arthritis. Associations with disease activity and diagnostic capacity.

Objectives: To investigate the turnover of type I and III collagen by neo-epitope markers in patients with axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) and psoriatic arthritis (PsA).

Methods: Patients with PsA (n=101) or axSpA (n=110) and healthy subjects (n=120) were included. Demographic and clinical data were recorded.

Danish National Lymphoma Registry.

Aim Of Database: The Danish National Lymphoma Registry (LYFO) was established in order to monitor and improve the diagnostic evaluation and the quality of treatment of all lymphoma patients in Denmark.

Study Population: The LYFO database was established in 1982 as a seminational database including all lymphoma patients referred to the departments of hematology. The database became nationwide on January 1, 2000.

The Danish National Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia Registry.

Aim: In 2008, the Danish National Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia Registry was founded within the Danish National Hematology Database. The primary aim of the registry is to assure quality of diagnosis and care of patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) in Denmark. Secondarily, to evaluate adherence to national guidelines and to provide source data for research purposes.

The Danish National Acute Leukemia Registry.

Aim Of Database: The main aim of the Danish National Acute Leukemia Registry (DNLR) was to obtain information about the epidemiology of the hematologic cancers acute myeloid leukemia (AML), acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), and myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS).

Study Population: The registry was established in January 2000 by the Danish Acute Leukemia Group and has been expanded over the years. It includes adult AML patients diagnosed in Denmark since 2000, ALL patients diagnosed since 2005, and MDS patients diagnosed since 2010.

The role of ultrasound in diagnosing rheumatoid arthritis, what do we know? An updated review.

To clarify if musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSUS) improves early diagnosis of RA when added to the clinical examination of patients with possible arthritis. We performed a systematic literature review of original studies dealing with the value of MSUS in the early diagnosis of RA. Studies were identified using the databases of PubMed, EMBASE and Cochrane library.

17q12 deletion and duplication syndrome in Denmark-A clinical cohort of 38 patients and review of the literature.

17q12 deletions and duplications are two distinct, recurrent chromosomal aberrations usually diagnosed by chromosomal microarray analysis (CMA). The aberrations encompass the genes, HNF1B, LHX1, and ACACA, among others. We here describe a large national cohort of 12 phenotyped patients with 17q12 deletions and 26 phenotyped patients with 17q12 duplications.

Thrombolysis in acute ischemic stroke is associated with lower long-term hospital bed day use: A nationwide propensity score-matched follow-up study.

Background Thrombolysis with intravenous recombinant tissue-type plasminogen activator improves functional outcome in acute ischemic stroke. Few studies have investigated the effects of thrombolysis in a real-world setting. We evaluated the impact of thrombolysis on long-term hospital bed day use and the risk of readmission due to stroke-related complications.

Chondrocyte activity is increased in psoriatic arthritis and axial spondyloarthritis.

Background: Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) are chronic inflammatory rheumatic diseases with complex origins. Both are characterized by altered extracellular matrix remodeling in joints and entheses that results in destructive and osteochondral proliferative lesions. There is a need for biomarkers reflecting core disease pathways for diagnosis and disease mapping.

Minocycline added to subcutaneous interferon β-1a in multiple sclerosis: randomized RECYCLINE study.

Background And Purpose: Combining different therapies may improve disease control in patients with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS). This study assessed the efficacy and safety of minocycline added to subcutaneous (sc) interferon (IFN) β-1a therapy.

Methods: This was a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled multicentre study.

Smoldering multiple myeloma risk factors for progression: a Danish population-based cohort study.

Several risk scores for disease progression in patients with smoldering multiple myeloma (SMM) have been proposed; however, all have been developed using single-center registries. To examine risk factors for time to progression (TTP) to multiple myeloma (MM) for SMM, we analyzed a nationwide population-based cohort of 321 patients with newly diagnosed SMM registered within the Danish Multiple Myeloma Registry between 2005 and 2014. Significant univariable risk factors for TTP were selected for multivariable Cox regression analyses.

Impact of tobacco smoking on response to tumour necrosis factor-alpha inhibitor treatment in patients with ankylosing spondylitis: results from the Danish nationwide DANBIO registry.

Objectives: To investigate the association between tobacco smoking and disease activity, treatment adherence and treatment responses in patients with AS treated with their first tumour necrosis factor-alpha inhibitor (TNFi) therapy in routine care.

Methods: Observational cohort study based on the Danish nationwide DANBIO registry. Kaplan-Meier plots, Cox and logistic regression analyses by smoking status (current/never/previous) were calculated for treatment adherence and BASDAI 50%/20 mm-response.

Cartilage collagen type II seromarker patterns in axial spondyloarthritis and psoriatic arthritis: associations with disease activity, smoking and HLA-B27.

The aim of the study was to assess the possible association between type II collagen turnover seromarkers and disease profile in patients with axial spondyloarthritis (SpA) and psoriatic arthritis (PsA). Outpatients with axial SpA (n = 110) or PsA (n = 101) underwent clinical examination including disease activity measures and HLA-B27 typing. The procollagen IIA N-terminal peptide (PIIANP) and a matrix metalloproteinase-generated type II collagen fragment (C2M) were quantified in serum by ELISA.

Cardiac Abnormalities in Adult Patients With Polymyositis or Dermatomyositis as Assessed by Noninvasive Modalities.

Objective: Cardiac events are a major cause of death in patients with idiopathic inflammatory myopathies. The study objective was in a controlled setting to describe cardiac abnormalities by noninvasive methods in a cohort of patients with polymyositis (PM) or dermatomyositis (DM) and to identify predictors for cardiac dysfunction.

Methods: In a cross-sectional study, 76 patients with PM/DM and 48 matched healthy controls (HCs) were assessed by serum levels of cardiac troponin I, electrocardiography, Holter monitoring, echocardiography with tissue Doppler imaging, and quantitative cardiac (99m) Tc-pyrophosphate ((99m) Tc-PYP) scintigraphy.
