Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been widely used as an advanced imaging modality to detect prostate cancer and indicate suspicious areas to guide biopsy procedures. The increasing number of prostate examinations with MRI has provided an opportunity to detect incidental lesions, and some might be very significant to elucidate patient symptoms or occult neoplastic process in the early stages. These incidental lesions might be located in the prostate gland, adjacent tissues, or organs around the prostate gland or out of the genitourinary system.

Q fever is a zoonotic disease that is known to be widespread throughout the world by many researches since its discovery in 1935 and it is important in terms of animal and public health. Coxiella burnetii, which is the etiological agent of the disease, is an obligate intracellular pathogen. While the disease generally manifests itself with abortion in animals, disease manifests as atypical pneumonia or granulomatous hepatitis in the acute form and as endocarditis in the chronic form in humans.

Background: Coronavirus-19 is still considered a pandemic that influences the world. Other molecular alterations should be clearer besides the increasing cytokine storm and pro-inflammatory molecules. Hypoxic conditions that induce HIF-1α lead to stimulate gene expression of STC-2 that targets PAPP-A expression.

Ischemia-reperfusion-induced (I/R) renal damage is a pathogenic process that starts with ischemia, then progresses through oxidative stress and inflammation. Tocilizumab (TCZ), a recombinant human monoclonal antibody produced against the IL-6 receptor, will be tested against renal I/R injury. TCZ is known to lower the levels of proinflammatory cytokines and oxidant mediators while raising the amounts of antioxidant molecules.

Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) disease represents a distinct subgroup of inherited peripheral neuropathies with a significant prevalence throughout the world and manifests both phenotypic and genetic heterogeneity. Electrophysiological studies subclassify CMT mainly as demyelinating or axonal types. In this study, we investigated the molecular characteristics of a Turkish cohort of 23 probands out of 34 symptomatic demyelinating CMT individuals from January 2019 to December 2021.

Background: The sweet taste and bitter taste genes are thought to have an influence on obesity and caries, which are chronic diseases.

Objectives: The aim of the study was to investigate the effects of the polymorphisms of TAS2R38 (the bitter taste gene) and TAS1R2 (the sweet taste gene), which are the most important members of the taste gene family, on the dental status of obese and normal-weight children.

Material And Methods: The study included 78 healthy children and 100 children diagnosed with obesity (5-16 years old).

Objective: Both life expectancy and the proportion of the population in elderly are increasing. Therefore, the number of cases of acute appendicitis (AA) among the super-elderly population is increasing. In this study, it is aimed to find the correlations between morbidity and the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), albumin and prognostic nutritional index (PNI) in super-elderly patients.

In addition to the highly variable clinical presentation of acute COVID-19 infection, it can also cause various postacute signs and symptoms. This study aimed to evaluate patients with postacute COVID-19 over 12 weeks of follow-up. The study included 151 patients who were diagnosed with COVID-19 by real-time polymerase chain reaction of a nasopharyngeal swab 1 month earlier, had radiologic findings consistent with COVID-19 pneumonia, and presented to the post-COVID-19 outpatient clinic between May and August 2021.

The inflammatory/anti-inflammatory balance has an important role in the clinical course of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) (coronavirus disease [COVID-19]) infection, which has affected over 200 million people since it first appeared in China in December 2019. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of montelukast, which has known anti-inflammatory and bronchodilatory effects, in these patients. The prospective randomized controlled study included 180 patients who were hospitalized in the infectious diseases department of our hospital between May and July 2021 and were diagnosed with the delta variant of SARS-CoV-2 by real-time polymerase chain reaction of nasopharyngeal swabs.

Background: In obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), recurrent upper airway obstruction and apnea/hypopnea episodes result in endothelial dysfunction, which leads to the release of many proinflammatory cytokines and reactive oxygen species (ROS). ROS induces NLRP3, a protein involved in the synthesis of interleukin (IL)-1 and IL-18; vaspin is a serine protease inhibitor that has an important role in suppressing the activation of NLRP3 inflammasome. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effect of NLRP3 rs10159239 (rs9239) and vaspin rs2236242 (rs6242) single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) on OSA development.

Objective: SARS-CoV-2 has caused nearly 4 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 worldwide in the approximately 4 months since it emerged in Wuhan, China in December 2019. Comorbidities increase morbidity and mortality in COVID-19, and many laboratory parameters have been associated with mortality. The aim of the present study was to identify the relationship between endogenous carboxyhaemoglobin (COHb) level and the clinical course and prognosis of COVID-19.
