Purpose: We aimed to investigate the patterns of radiotherapy (RT) care in cases of benign diseases in Turkey.

Methods: A questionnaire survey was sent to all radiation oncology (RO) departments in Turkey. The number of patients treated for benign disease between 2015 and 2020 was requested.

Effect of Pretreatment Platelet Parameters on Survival in Limited Disease Small Cell Lung Cancer.

Background: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of platelet parameters before concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) on survival of patients with limited disease small cell lung cancer (LD-SCLC). Methods: This study consisted of patients who received CCRT due to LD-SCLC in the oncology clinic between 1997-2017. Examined platelet parameters included total platelet count (TPC), mean platelet volume, platelet distribution width, and platelet-lymphocyte ratio.

Management of Thyrotoxicosis in Children and Adolescents: A Turkish Multi-center Experience.

Objective: To determine the demographic and biochemical features of childhood and juvenile thyrotoxicosis and treatment outcome.

Methods: We reviewed the records of children from 22 centers in Turkey who were diagnosed with thyrotoxicosis between 2007 to 2017.

Results: A total of 503 children had been diagnosed with thyrotoxicosis at the centers during the study period.

Fibrous dysplasia (FD) is a rare, benign disease of unclear etiology where normal bone is replaced with abnormal fibrous and weak osseous tissue. Any bone of the skeleton might be involved but skull is one of the most commonly affected sites. Fibrous dysplasia is known to be caused by a genetic mutation leading to inappropriate proliferation and differentiation of osteoblastic cells.

The Association between Sagittal Index, Canal Compromise, Loss of Vertebral Body Height, and Severity of Spinal Cord Injury in Thoracolumbar Burst Fractures.

Aim: Our aim was to determine whether a combination of sagittal index (SI), canal compromise (CC), and loss of vertebral body height (LVBH) is associated with the severity of neurological injury in patients with thoracolumbar burst fractures.

Materials And Methods: Seventy-four patients with thoracolumbar burst fracture undergoing instrumentation between 2010 and 2015 were analyzed retrospectively. The degree of neurological injury was determined using the American Spinal Injury Association (ASIA) scoring system.

Case Description: A 17-year-old girl was admitted to the emergency department with acute left hemiplegia and was diagnosed with interhemispheric subdural empyema that showed a three-fold increase in size within 12 hours.

Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the causes of persistent nasal obstruction of patients after septoplasty.

Materials And Methods: After exclusion of allergic rhinitis, non-allergic rhinitis and nasal polyposis, this study included 90 patients with nasal breathing problem who underwent septoplasty at least 4 months ago. After taking full history and completing otorhinological and endoscopic examination, all patients graded their extent of obstruction using the Nasal Obstruction Symptoms Evaluation scale.
