This antibody-drug conjugate is currently approved as monotherapy. Palliative radiotherapy is frequently used to treat symptomatic metastases locally.

Background: Approximately 27% of female breast cancer patients are diagnosed before the age of 55, a group often comprising mothers with young children. Maternal psychosocial well-being significantly impacts these children's psychosocial well-being. This study assesses the well-being of children with mothers who have early-onset breast cancer.

Prospective controlled study on the effects of deep brain stimulation on driving in Parkinson's disease.

To explore the influence of bilateral subthalamic deep brain stimulation (STN-DBS) on car driving ability in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD), we prospectively examined two age-matched, actively driving PD patient groups: one group undergone DBS-surgery (PD-DBS, n = 23) and one group that was eligible for DBS but did not undergo surgery (PD-nDBS, n = 29). In PD-DBS patients, investigation at Baseline was done just prior and at Follow-up 6-12 month after DBS-surgery. In PD-nDBS patients, time interval between Baseline and Follow-up was aimed to be comparable.

Young Adult German Breast Cancer Patients Participating in a Three-Week Inpatient Mother-Child Rehab Program Have High Needs for Supportive Care.

A known cut-off problem hampers the interpretation of quality of life (QOL) scores. The purpose of this study was to apply a novel approach for the EORTC QLQ-C30 instrument to identify the proportion of breast cancer (BC) patients in need of supportive care. Changes in QOL during the COVID-19 pandemic were evaluated, as well as changes over time (after treatment termination and up to 4 years later).

Introduction: Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) is a recognized global threat especially for vulnerable populations. It is of particular concern to healthcare providers as it is found in both hospital and community settings, with severe courses, frequent recurrence, high mortality and substantial financial impact on the healthcare system. The CDI burden in Germany has been described and compared by analysing data from four different public databases.

Mycobacterial infections in adults with haematological malignancies and haematopoietic stem cell transplants: guidelines from the 8th European Conference on Infections in Leukaemia.

Mycobacterial infections, both tuberculosis and nontuberculous, are more common in patients with haematological malignancies and haematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients than in the general population-although these infections remain rare. Mycobacterial infections pose both diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. The management of mycobacterial infections is particularly complicated for patients in haematology because of the many drug-drug interactions between antimycobacterial drugs and haematological and immunosuppressive treatments.

A Higher Initial Tensioning Force of an ACL Graft Results in a Higher Graft Force After Screw Fixation Irrespective of the Screw Diameter: A Biomechanical Study.

Background: The intra-articular graft force (IAGF) in anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction decreases quickly over the first hours after surgery. Nevertheless, little is known about whether the initial extra-articular tensioning force (EATF) and screw diameter affect the graft force after fixation.

Purpose: To investigate the effects of different EATFs on the IAGF of a soft tissue graft fixated via a bioabsorbable interference screw over 100 minutes after fixation and to evaluate the effects of different screw diameters within 1 mm of the tunnel width during this process.

Autologous Lipofilling Improves Clinical Outcome in Patients With Symptomatic Dermal Scars Through Induction of a Pro-Regenerative Immune Response.

Background: Autologous lipofilling is an emerging procedure to treat and possibly reverse dermal scars and to reduce scar-related pain, but its efficacy and mechanisms are poorly understood.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to test the hypothesis that repeated lipografts reverse dermal scars by reinitiation of wound healing.

Methods: In a prospective, non-placebo-controlled clinical study, 27 adult patients with symptomatic scars were given 2 lipofilling treatments at 3-month intervals.

Management of large volume liposuction in lipedema patients with von Willebrand disease: A systematic review and treatment algorithm.

Background: When performing large volume liposuction, perioperative management of lipedema patients with coagulation disorders remains challenging due to a lack of clinical experience. With a prevalence of 1% of von Willebrand disease (VWD) in the general population, basic knowledge on diagnostic and adapted surgical strategies are essential for patients' safety.

Objective: Based on a selective literature review, the purpose of this article is to present a standardized algorithm for diagnosis and perioperative treatment of VWD patients undergoing large volume liposuction.

Minimally invasive accessory splenectomy for recurrent gastric variceal bleeding due to left-sided portal hypertension: report of the first case.

Upper gastrointestinal bleeding from esophagogastric varices is a common scenario, especially in patients with portal hypertension induced by liver cirrhosis or other diseases with thrombosis of the splenic vein. However, accessory spleen as pathophysiological cause of a regional, left-sided portal hypertension and consecutive development of isolated gastric varices is rare. We report a case of recurrent gastric variceal bleeding resulting from sinistral portal hypertension associated with an accessory spleen in a patient who had traumatic splenectomy many decades before.

Psychosocial and family-centered support among breast cancer patients with dependent children.

Objective: To evaluate the psychosocial situation of breast cancer (BC) patients with dependent children, with regard to who used family-centered psychosocial support (PS) services, reasons against using it, as well as existing, unmet needs, and current PS need.

Methods: Data were collected via survey and patient files during an inpatient rehabilitation program for mothers with BC, who were accompanied by a child <12 years. Descriptive statistics and tests for statistical significance were used.

Gender-Dependent Clinical Outcome and Other Predictors of In-Hospital Mortality Following Out-Of-Center Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation and Extracorporeal Life Support: A Single Center Experience.

Background: Out-of-center extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and extracorporeal life support (ECLS) implantation for the treatment of acute cardiorespiratory failure with subsequent transport to a tertiary care center has been introduced successfully into the medical practice. However, due to the very specific and resource intensive nature of this therapeutic concept, it seems important to generate algorithms for adequate patient selection. The aim of our study was to analyze the impact of patients' gender on early clinical outcome in this specific therapeutic scenario.

Social media and e-learning use among European exercise science students.

With the rise of digital technologies, electronic learning and communication tools are becoming a firm part of academia to promote knowledge of health sciences. This study sought to analyse the attitude of students regarding social media and digital learning for study purposes in sport and exercise science. A survey was carried out with a questionnaire (20 main items) in six sport science faculties, equally spread across Germany (G), Italy (I) and the United Kingdom (UK) between February and October 2017.

Early-Onset Breast Cancer: Effect of Diagnosis and Therapy on Fertility Concerns, Endocrine System, and Sexuality of Young Mothers in Germany.

Background: The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of breast cancer therapy on fertility concerns and sexuality of young mothers with breast cancer in Germany.

Methods: During a mother-child rehabilitation program, 1,191 young mothers with locoregional primary breast cancer, treated between 2006 and 2014, were recruited. Data included sociodemographic data, TNM stage, tumor biology, therapies, and patient-reported outcomes such as sexuality and fertility concerns.

The power of fat and its adipose-derived stromal cells: emerging concepts for fibrotic scar treatment.

Lipofilling or lipografting is a novel and promising treatment method for reduction or prevention of dermal scars after injury. Ample anecdotal evidence from case reports supports the scar-reducing properties of adipose tissue grafts. However, only a few properly controlled and designed clinical trials have been conducted thus far on this topic.
