Objective: To assess risk for neonatal morbidities among infants born late preterm at 35-36 gestational weeks, early term (37-38 weeks), and late-term (41 weeks) infants, compared with full-term (39-40 weeks) infants.
Study Design: This nationwide population-based cohort study included 1 650 450 non-malformed liveborn singleton infants born at 35-41 weeks between 1998 and 2016 in Sweden. The relative risks for low Apgar score (0-3) at 5 minutes; respiratory, metabolic, infectious, and neurologic morbidities; and severe neonatal morbidity (composite outcome) were adjusted for maternal, pregnancy, delivery, and infant characteristics.

Background: The pathogenesis of late-onset sepsis (LOS) in preterm infants is poorly understood and knowledge about risk factors, especially prenatal risk factors, is limited. This study aimed to assess the association between the cause of preterm birth and LOS in very preterm infants.
Methods: 2052 very preterm singletons from a national population-based cohort study alive at 72 h of life were included.

Preterm babies are a vulnerable population that experience significant short and long-term morbidity. Rehospitalisations constitute an important, potentially modifiable adverse event in this population. Improving the ability of clinicians to identify those patients at the greatest risk of rehospitalisation has the potential to improve outcomes and reduce costs.

Introduction: Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is a blinding disease that requires screening by retinal examination. Screening practices are rarely evaluated. We aimed to determine the prevalence of ROP screening in very preterm infants and individual- and center-related factors associated with ROP screening.

This study aims to describe the incidence of acute respiratory infections (ARI) during the first year in infants born before 32 weeks' gestation, and to analyze and study the risk factors as well as factors associated with oxygen requirement among infants with an ARI, in the palivizumab era. This study included 2571 infants from a nationwide French population-based cohort (Epipage 2). ARI at 1-year corrected age was identified by parental questionnaires.

Aim: Although well documented in randomised trials, the efficacy of prophylaxis against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in real-word conditions is less studied. The objective was to assess the impact of partial versus full RSV prophylaxis for acute respiratory infections (ARIs) and ARI-related hospital admissions in preterm children.
Methods: This study included children born preterm in 2011 in France who were eligible for RSV prophylaxis and received at least one palivizumab dose from October 2011 to March 2012.

Background: High consumption of red and processed meat is commonly associated with increased cancer risk, particularly colorectal cancer. Antibodies against the red meat-derived carbohydrate N-glycolylneuraminic acid (Neu5Gc) exacerbate cancer in "human-like" mice. Human anti-Neu5Gc IgG and red meat are both independently proposed to increase cancer risk, yet how diet affects these antibodies is largely unknown.

Purpose: Monoamniotic twin pregnancies are at high risk of perinatal complications and fetal loss. The objective of this study is to describe the management and outcomes of monoamniotic twin pregnancies in a French university obstetrics department.
Methods: Retrospective review of all consecutive monoamniotic twin pregnancies managed between 1992 and 2018 in a level-3 university hospital maternity unit.

Objective: To determine the management of patients with term prelabor rupture of membranes.
Methods: Synthesis of the literature from the PubMed and Cochrane databases and the recommendations of French and foreign societies and colleges.
Results: Term prelabor rupture of membranes is considered a physiological process until 12 h have passed since rupture (professional consensus).

Purpose: Previous epidemiologic studies have provided some evidence of an inverse association between fruit and vegetables consumption and risk of developing recurrent depressive symptoms. This association could possibly be explained by the role of such dietary factors on the gut microbiota. Especially, indole, a metabolite of tryptophan produced by gut bacteria, may be associated with the development of mood disorders.

Background: Little is known about the associations between maternal body mass index (BMI) and asphyxia-related morbidity in preterm infants (<37 weeks). We aimed to investigate associations between maternal BMI in early pregnancy and severe asphyxia-related neonatal complications in preterm infants (<37 weeks) and to examine whether possible associations were mediated by overweight- or obesity-related complications.
Methods: In this Swedish population-based cohort of 62 499 singleton non-malformed preterm infants born from 1997 to 2011, risks of low Apgar scores (0-3) at 5 and 10 minutes, neonatal seizures and intraventricular haemorrhage (IVH) were estimated through two analytical approaches.

Introduction: The objective of this study was to investigate the association between planned mode of delivery and neonatal outcomes with spontaneous very preterm birth among singletons in cephalic presentation.
Material And Methods: Etude Epidémiologique sur les Petits Ages Gestationnels 2 is a French national, prospective, population-based cohort study of preterm infants. For this study, we included women with a singleton cephalic pregnancy and spontaneous preterm labor or preterm premature rupture of membranes at 24-31 weeks' gestation.

After preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM), antibiotics and antenatal steroids are effective evidence-based interventions, but the use of tocolysis is controversial. We investigated whether a unit policy of tocolysis use after PPROM is associated with prolonged gestation and improved outcomes for very preterm infants in units that systematically use these other evidence-based treatments. From the prospective, observational, population-based EPICE cohort study (all very preterm births in 19 regions from 11 European countries, 2011-2012), we included 607 women with a singleton pregnancy and PPROM at 24-29 weeks' gestation, of whom 101, 195 and 311 were respectively managed in 17, 32 and 45 units with no-use, restricted and liberal tocolysis policies for PPROM.

Objectives: To assess recent community antibiotic prescribing for French children and identify areas of potential improvement.
Methods: We analysed 221 768 paediatric (<15 years) visits in a national sample of 680 French GPs and 70 community paediatricians (IQVIA's EPPM database), from March 2015 to February 2017, excluding well-child visits. We calculated antibiotic prescription rates per 100 visits, separately for GPs and paediatricians.

We summarise rates of survival and neurodevelopmental impairment in very (<32 weeks' gestation) and extremely (<28 weeks' gestation) preterm infants using data from recent meta-analyses. Methodological issues that require consideration when comparing international data are highlighted using examples of population-based or multi-centre cohorts of children born extremely preterm. The impact of baseline population, outcome definition, gestational age assessment, age at neurodevelopmental assessment, year of birth and follow-up rates are discussed.

Objective: To compare neonatal mortality and morbidity of first twins according to the planned mode of delivery when the first twin is in breech presentation, in a country where planned vaginal delivery is an option.
Methods: This is a planned secondary analysis of the JUMODA (JUmeaux MODe d'Accouchement) cohort, a national prospective population-based study of twin deliveries conducted in 176 French hospitals. We analyzed pregnancies with first twins in breech presentation and applied the inclusion criteria of the Twin Birth Study (except the criterion for first-twin presentation): both fetuses alive, with a birth weight between 1,500 g and 4,000 g, at or after 32 0/7 weeks of gestation.
