Carbosiloxane Bottlebrush Networks for Enhanced Performance and Recyclability.

Silicone bottlebrush copolymers and networks derived from cyclic carbosiloxanes are reported and shown to have enhanced properties and recyclability compared with traditional dimethylsiloxane-based materials. The preparation of these materials is enabled by the synthesis of well-defined heterotelechelic macromonomers with Si-H and norbornene chain ends via anionic ring-opening polymerization of the hybrid carbosiloxane monomer 2,2,5,5-tetramethyl-2,5-disila-1-oxacyclopentane. These novel heterotelechelic α-Si-H/ω-norbornene macromonomers undergo efficient ring-opening metathesis copolymerization to yield functional bottlebrush polymers with accurate control over molecular weight and functional-group density.

This study examines the relationship between respondents' vaccine hesitancy, reported media consumption patterns, ideological leanings, and trust in science. A large-scale survey conducted in the US in 2022 (N = 1,646) assessed self-reported COVID-19 vaccination, trust in science, and reported media consumption. Findings show that, regardless of personal ideology, individuals who consumed less conservative media and had a more ideologically diverse media diet were more likely to be fully vaccinated and boosted.

A transmissive single-shot spectrometer has been developed to monitor shot-to-shot spectral structures in the hard X-ray beamline of the Pohang Accelerator Laboratory X-ray Free Electron Laser (PAL-XFEL). The established spectrometer comprises 10 µm-thick Si crystals bent to a radius of curvature of 100 mm. Depending on the photon energy range, either the Si (111) or Si (110) crystal can be selected for spectral analysis.
