Background And Aims: Artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms in 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) provides promising age prediction methods. This study investigated whether the discrepancy between ECG-derived AI-predicted age (AI-ECG age) and chronological age, termed electrocardiographic aging (ECG aging), is associated with atrial fibrillation (AF) risk.
Methods: An AI-ECG age prediction model was developed using a large-scale dataset (1 533 042 ECGs from 689 639 participants) and validated with six independent and multi-national datasets (737 133 ECGs from 330 794 participants).

Silicone bottlebrush copolymers and networks derived from cyclic carbosiloxanes are reported and shown to have enhanced properties and recyclability compared with traditional dimethylsiloxane-based materials. The preparation of these materials is enabled by the synthesis of well-defined heterotelechelic macromonomers with Si-H and norbornene chain ends via anionic ring-opening polymerization of the hybrid carbosiloxane monomer 2,2,5,5-tetramethyl-2,5-disila-1-oxacyclopentane. These novel heterotelechelic α-Si-H/ω-norbornene macromonomers undergo efficient ring-opening metathesis copolymerization to yield functional bottlebrush polymers with accurate control over molecular weight and functional-group density.

Methods: Children with CD were enrolled at initiation of anti-TNF and followed prospectively at 4 and 12 months thereafter, as well as at last follow-up. At baseline, 10 serological markers of the "PROMETHEUS® IBD sgi Diagnostic test" were measured, including pANCA, ASCA IgG and IgA, anti-CBir1, anti-OmpC, anti-A4-Fla2, anti-Fla-X, SAA, ICAM-1 and VCAM-1.

Evaluating masses of mesenchymal and epithelial origin accurately using computed tomography (CT) has several limitations in dogs. This study aimed to present dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) parameters to aid in improving the diagnostic accuracy for masses of mesenchymal and epithelial origin in veterinary medicine. Four dogs diagnosed with benign and malignant soft tissue sarcoma (STS), cholesteatoma, or squamous cell carcinoma underwent CT, conventional MRI, and DCE-MRI.

Microorganism-based ecotoxicity assessment has been widely used as a reliable tool showing direct biochemical impacts of contaminants on ecosystems and the environment. The present study aimed at developing a thiosulfate-utilizing denitrifying bacteria (TUDB)-based ecotoxicity test with high detection sensitivity and favorable reproducibility. To achieve this goal, existing TUDB toxicity tests were improved by employing a pure culture of ATCC 8158 and optimizing test conditions, particularly in terms of inoculated microbial biomass, incubating temperature, and operational pH.

This study examines the relationship between respondents' vaccine hesitancy, reported media consumption patterns, ideological leanings, and trust in science. A large-scale survey conducted in the US in 2022 (N = 1,646) assessed self-reported COVID-19 vaccination, trust in science, and reported media consumption. Findings show that, regardless of personal ideology, individuals who consumed less conservative media and had a more ideologically diverse media diet were more likely to be fully vaccinated and boosted.

Phosvitin (PV), a highly phosphorylated protein found in chicken egg yolk, possesses multiple bioactivities (including anti-aging and anticancer) and functional properties (including emulsifier and metal-binding capacities). The carbohydrate moiety attached to PV has been reported, but its N-glycan structure is unknown. In this study, we performed structural and quantitative analyses of N-glycans from PV using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS).

Background: Genomic sequencing technology allows for identification of reproductive couples with an increased chance, as compared with that in the general population, of having a child with an autosomal recessive or X-linked genetic condition.

A transmissive single-shot spectrometer has been developed to monitor shot-to-shot spectral structures in the hard X-ray beamline of the Pohang Accelerator Laboratory X-ray Free Electron Laser (PAL-XFEL). The established spectrometer comprises 10 µm-thick Si crystals bent to a radius of curvature of 100 mm.
