Fermentation can enhance nutritional value and safety of insect protein, this study utilized probiotic Bacillus subtilis (B. subtilis) and complex enzyme containing chitinase and protease to ferment the paste of Black Soldier Fly larva (BSFL), decomposing anti-nutritional factor chitin and protein in paste while inhibiting the proliferation of harmful microorganisms. The result indicated a 40 % degradation of chitin after fermentation, accompanied by an increase in the variety and quantity of amino acids and peptides, functional substances such as raffinose and cucurbitacin significantly increased, while the levels of antibiotics such as erythromycin and ofloxacin had decreased; after fermentation, there is a significant difference in the microbial distribution between bacteria, co-fermentation and CK, the indigenous microbiota of BSF and pathogenic bacteria such as Klebsiella pneumoniae and Clostridiaceae bacteria were significantly inhibited, anaerobic bacteria, including Anaerosalibacter, Caldicoprobacter and Tissierella, exhibit a marked increase; significant changes are detected in the carbon sources, amino acids, and key enzymes related to other metabolic pathways of B.

Antibiotic resistance gene (ARG)-contaminated food from manure application is gaining widespread interest, but little is known about the distribution and uptake of ARGs in peanuts that are subjected to manure routinely. In this study, the ARG profile and bacterial community in soil and peanut plants from a 7-year manure-fertilized field were investigated using high-throughput qPCR and 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Manure application increased the abundance of ARGs in soil and peanuts by 59-72 and 4-10 fold, respectively.

Antibiotic-degrading bacteria are commonly used to treat antibiotic contamination, but the antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) they carry are often overlooked. This study used metagenomic assembly and binning analyses to explore potential antibiotic-degrading bacteria and their ARGs during pig manure composting. The environmental behavior of Cd in soil has been widely studied because of its close relationship with food security and soil environmental pollution. In this study, the roles of P fractions and Fe oxides in the retention of Cd in typical tropical soil from five cropping patterns were investigated. Although there was no evident relationship between the Cd adsorption capacity and soil aggregate particle sizes, strong spatial associations of P, Fe, and Cd at the soil aggregates were observed via energy dispersive spectroscopy analysis.
