Since visible light communication (VLC) uses light-emitting diode (LED) as transmitters, it has dual functions of illumination and communication. To meet flexible lighting and energy-saving needs, we propose a novel, to the best of our knowledge, dimming control scheme for spectrally efficient clipping-free multilayer optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (CFMO-OFDM)-based VLC systems. In order to achieve high dynamic-range dimming control for LEDs, the time-domain CFMO-OFDM signals are first grouped based on frequency-domain subcarrier distribution.

Key Laboratory for Special Functional Materials of Ministry of Education, National & Local Joint Engineering Research Center for High-efficiency Display and Lighting Technology, and School of Nanoscience and Materials Engineering, Henan University, Kaifeng 475004, China.

Electrochromic smart windows can realize intelligent photothermal regulation by applying a low potential, which is of great significance for energy-saving buildings and achieving low carbon emission. However, the dense structure of conventional metal oxide electrochromic materials limits ion transport efficiency, resulting in poor electrochromic properties. Here, we propose a surface crystal reconstruction strategy for cubic NiO through phosphorylation (P-NiO) to build energetic reactive interfaces and enhance the electrochromic performance.

Objective: Plant-based diets (PBD) are generally promoted as beneficial for health. However, whether this is also the case at older ages, when energy deficits, muscle loss and frailty affect health, is unclear. Research has shown that among older adults, particularly in men, a healthful PBD is associated with a lower frailty risk.

December 2024

School of Materials Science and Engineering, Shijiazhuang Tiedao University, Hebei Key Laboratory of New Materials for Collaborative Development of Traffic Engineering and Environment. Electronic address:

Nanoscale FeWO/BiVO heterojunctions were directly grown on the graphite fiber felt (GF) with good conductivity to construct a FeWO/BiVO @GF solar photo-Fenton like wastewater treatment system. The removal effect of COD from phenolic wastewater and the mechanism of synergistic improvement of wastewater treatment efficiency by this system were investigated. The FeWO/BiVO heterojunction prepared by hydrothermal method exhibited higher photoelectric conversion efficiency and solar light utilization rate, thus endowing FeWO/BiVO with excellent solar-Fenton like reaction activity.

The coordinated motion of animal groups through fluids is thought to reduce the cost of locomotion to individuals in the group. However, the connection between the spatial patterns observed in collectively moving animals and the energetic benefits at each position within the group remains unclear. To address this knowledge gap, we study the spontaneous emergence of cohesive formations in groups of fish, modeled as flapping foils, all heading in the same direction.

Background: In medicine, x-rays are used to generate images of tissues and structures inside the body. X-rays are emitted by a source device and, after passing through the body, strike a detector, which forms an image of the tissues and structures the x-rays passed through. Dual-energy subtraction (DES) x-ray systems use radiation of different energy spectra (energy levels) and the principle of differential absorption characteristics of bone and soft tissue to produce separate bone and soft tissue x-ray images, in addition to a conventional x-ray image.
