Background: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) treatment have shown high efficacy for about 15 cancer types. However, this therapy is only effective in 20-30% of cancer patients. Thus, the precise biomarkers of ICI response are an urgent need.

Background: The role of endogenous estrogen exposure (EEE) in shaping body composition and its implications for cardiometabolic health remain understudied despite its potential significance. This cross-sectional study aimed to investigate the association between EEE and body composition indices among postmenopausal women.
Methods: Data were obtained from the Tehran Lipid and Glucose Study (TLGS), including 960 women aged over 40 years.

Objective: To evaluate a regimen of inhaled Technosphere insulin (TI) plus insulin degludec in adults with type 1 diabetes, who prestudy were predominately using either an automated insulin delivery (AID) system or multiple daily insulin injections (MDI) with continuous glucose monitoring.
Research Design And Methods: At 19 sites, adults with type 1 diabetes were randomly assigned to TI plus insulin degludec (N = 62) or usual care (UC) with continuation of prestudy insulin delivery method (N = 61) for 17 weeks.
Results: Prestudy, AID was used by 48% and MDI by 45%.

Background: Lifestyle modification can have beneficial effects on improving symptoms of ovary syndrome and anthropometric changes, particularly in obese individuals… However, it is not clear whether these affects in obese adolescents with PCOS are the same as non-PCOS adolescents. We had a study question" Can lifestyle promotion programs, which focus on changing behavioral habits, have an effect on anthropometric parameters and the manifestation of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) in adolescents?"
Methods: This was a cluster randomized trial (CRT) that started from January 2021 and follow-up ended in March 2022. 128 participants included adolescent girls (from 14 to 18 years old).

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), one of the most common endocrine disorders in reproductive-aged women, is associated with metabolic disturbances. The present study aimed to examine changes in body weight (BW) and glucose and insulin tolerance in a prenatally-androgenized (PNA) rat model of PCOS compared to control with increasing age. Pregnant rats in the experimental group were subcutaneously injected with 5 mg of free testosterone on the 20th day of pregnancy, while the control group received the solvent.

The metabolism of zinc and manganese plays a pivotal role in cancer progression by mediating cancer cell growth and metastasis. The SLC30A family proteins and mediate the efflux of zinc, manganese, and probably other transition element ions outside the cytoplasm to the extracellular space or into intracellular membrane compartments. The SLC39A family members and are their functional antagonists that transfer these ions into the cytoplasm.

Background: In clinical practice, various methods are used to identify gene rearrangements in tumor samples, ranging from "classic" techniques, such as IHC, FISH, and RT-qPCR, to more advanced highly multiplexed approaches, such as NanoString technology and NGS panels. Each of these methods has its own advantages and disadvantages, but they share the drawback of detecting only a restricted (although sometimes quite extensive) set of preselected biomarkers. At the same time, whole transcriptome sequencing (WTS, RNAseq) can, in principle, be used to detect gene fusions while simultaneously analyzing an incomparably wide range of tumor characteristics.

Inorganic polyphosphates and respective metabolic pathways and enzymes are important factors for yeast active growth in unfavorable conditions. However, particular proteins of polyphosphate metabolism remain poorly explored in this context. Here we report biochemical and transcriptomic characterization of the CRN/PPN2 yeast strain (derived from Ppn1-lacking CRN strain) overexpressing poorly studied Ppn2 polyphosphatase.

Long-term high-fat diet (HFD) promotes the formation of excess body weight and disorders of lipid metabolism and causes persistent dysbiotic changes in the intestinal microbial community. Changes in eating behavior, endocrine and immune functions of the host are associated with changes in the structure and functional activity of microbial communities. Short-term HFD may also influence the composition and function of the intestinal microbiota, but data on this issue are limited, and most papers are focused on the study of the large intestinal microbiota.

Background: Obesity is associated with the development of polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), a complex endocrine disorder. However, the correlation between body composition and PCOS in women has not been thoroughly investigated. This study aimed to examine body composition using bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) in women with and without PCOS in a population-based study within the Tehran Lipid and Glucose Study (TLGS).

Aims: Diabetes patients are at a higher risk of fractures, and glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) have been suggested to positively impact on bone metabolism. We aim to provide a comprehensive assessment of fracture events associated with GLP-1RAs based on pharmacovigilance data.
Methods: In this study, fracture-related adverse events (AEs) associated with GLP-1RAs and other commonly used glucose-lowering drugs were identified from Food and Drug Administration Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) database (2004-2022).

Cancer is a major global health problem. The type of malignant neoplasm and the potency of the immune response against tumors are two of the key factors influencing the outcome of the disease. The degree of tumor infiltration by lymphocytes plays an important role in antitumor response development, generally correlating with a favorable prognosis of treatment for certain cancers.

Background: Valid diagnostic tests for human papillomavirus (HPV) detection are crucial to identify individuals at high risk of cervical cancer. We assessed and compared the validity of Mehrviru HPV genotyping and Sacace (HPV Genotypes 14 Real-TM Quant) for molecular detection of 14 high-risk human papillomaviruses.
Methods: We used three HPV test results to identify HPV-positive individuals (14 high-risk genotypes) in a specialist gynecology clinic.

Background: Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most aggressive and lethal central nervous system (CNS) tumor. The treatment strategy is mainly surgery and/or radiation therapy, both combined with adjuvant temozolomide (TMZ) chemotherapy. Historically, methylation of gene promoter is used as the major biomarker predicting individual tumor response to TMZ.

Introduction: The differential ratio of nonsynonymous to synonymous nucleotide substitutions (dN/dS) is a common measure of the rate of structural evolution in proteincoding genes. In addition, we recently suggested that the proportion of transposable elements in gene promoters that host functional genomic sites serves as a marker of the rate of regulatory evolution of genes. Such functional genomic regions may include transcription factor binding sites and modified histone binding loci.

Although numerous studies have explored the link between polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and thyroid dysfunction, the relationship between polycystic ovary morphology (PCOM) and thyroid issues remains unclear. This study aimed to examine the association between PCOM and subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH) as well as the threshold for thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH). Data were drawn from the Iranian PCOS prevalence study and the Khuzestan PCOS prevalence study.

The unprecedented rise in global ambient temperatures in the last decade has significantly impacted human health, yet how heat exposure affects the development of sarcopenia remains enigmatic. Here, we demonstrate that chronic heat exposure induces skeletal muscle volume loss, leading to muscle strength and functional decline in mice. The microbiota composition of heat-exposed mice was analyzed using 16S ribosomal DNA analysis.
