Background: Adrenal venous sampling is recommended for the identification of unilateral surgically curable primary aldosteronism but is often clinically useless, owing to failed bilateral adrenal vein cannulation.
Objectives: To investigate if only unilaterally selective adrenal vein sampling studies can allow the identification of the responsible adrenal.
Methods: Among 1625 patients consecutively submitted to adrenal vein sampling in tertiary referral centers, we selected those with selective adrenal vein sampling results in at least one side; we used surgically cured unilateral primary aldosteronism as gold reference.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a very frequent disease that affects reproductive ability and menstrual regularity. Other than the criteria established at the Rotterdam consensus, in these last few years a new issue, insulin resistance, has been found frequently, and at a very high grade, in patients with PCOS. Insulin resistance occurs for several factors, such as overweight and obesity, but it is now clear that it occurs in patients with PCOS with normal weight, thus supporting the hypothesis that insulin resistance is independent of body weight.

Cone dystrophy with supernormal rod response (CDSRR) is associated with pathogenic variants of the KCNV2 gene that result in severe symptoms, including color vision defects, decreased visual acuity, and specific changes in electroretinogram responses. Two iPSC lines were obtained from two patients in the same family with different types of mutations in the KCNV2 gene. These lines could serve as a useful model for studying the pathogenetic mechanism and treatment development for CDSRR.

Vitamin D deficiency is prevalent worldwide. Since the discovery of the expression of vitamin D receptor in ventricular cardiomyocytes, fibroblasts, and blood vessels, there has been a growing body of literature assessing the link between vitamin D status and cardiovascular health from one side, and the effect of vitamin D supplementation on prevention of cardiovascular diseases from the other side. In this review, we summarized studies highlighting the role of vitamin D on cardiovascular health, namely atherosclerosis, hypertension, heart failure, and metabolic syndrome, a recognized significant risk factor for cardiovascular diseases.

Objectives: To evaluate the frequency and risk of malignancy of TSHRpI568T mutations discovered in indeterminate thyroid nodules (ITN) within the Veracyte CLIA laboratory undergoing Afirma Genomic Sequencing Classifier (GSC) testing, and to evaluate a broader cohort of TSHR variants and their categorization as Afirma GSC benign (GSC-B) or suspicious (GSC-S). Finally, we seek to assess the risk of malignancy (ROM) of this group of TSHR mutated ITN in the GSC-S category.
Methods: ITN submitted to Veracyte for Afirma GSC testing between October 2017 and February 2022 were analyzed for TSHR variants and rates of GSC-B and GSC-S were calculated based upon BIII or IV cytology, by TSHR variant codon amino acid (AA) substitution, age, and gender.

Objective: To determine whether individuals from a historically underrepresented racial group have a higher cardiometabolic risk than historically represented individuals with type 1 diabetes (T1D) considering socioeconomic deprivation.
Methods: We used the multivariable logistic and linear regression models to examine socioeconomic deprivation (upper 10th percentile) by race/ethnicity interaction for each cardiometabolic risk factor and cardiometabolic risk burden score, respectively, across 6320 zip code tabulation areas. We also determined the age-adjusted prevalence of low, moderate, and high cardiometabolic risks defined as 0, 1 to 2, and 3 or more risk factors for hypertension, obesity, dyslipidemia, and off-target glycemia for non-Hispanic White (n = 15 746), non-Hispanic Black (n = 1019), Hispanic (n = 1115), and other (n = 887), respectively.
