Background: Previous studies have demonstrated that there is a correlation between trihalomethanes and disease progression, such as allergic diseases. As we know, only few studies focused on the relationship between trihalomethanes and metabolic diseases, such as diabetes mellitus.
Objective: The aim of this study was to further explore the associations between blood trihalomethane concentrations and diabetes mellitus in older adults in the US.

Background: Immune therapy has become first-line treatment option for patients with lung cancer, but some patients respond poorly to immune therapy, especially among patients with lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). Novel tools are needed to screen potential responders to immune therapy in LUAD patients, to better predict the prognosis and guide clinical decision-making. Although many efforts have been made to predict the responsiveness of LUAD patients, the results were limited.

Asthma is a chronic heterogeneous airway disease, and imbalanced T-helper type 1 (Th1) and Th2 cell-mediated inflammation contribute to its pathogenesis. Although it has been suggested that androgen and estrogen were involved in development of asthma, the underlying mechanisms remained largely unclear. Studies have demonstrated that Runx3 could promote naive CD4 T cells to differentiate into Th1 cells.

Background: This research aimed to explore the association between changes in the intake of common individual vitamins and combinations of vitamins and the prevalence of kidney calculi.
Methods: We used data from NHANES to investigate the association between nine common vitamins and kidney stone prevalence. Participants were clustered into several vitamin exposure patterns using an unsupervised K-means clustering method.

Background: Xiao-Qing-Long-Tang (XQLT), a classical Chinese herbal medicine formula, has been extensively used for allergic asthma treatment. However, there is limited research on its anti-inflammatory effects and mechanisms specifically in neutrophilic asthma (NA).
Purpose: This study aims to investigate the potential therapeutic effects of XQLT against NA using a combination of network pharmacology and experimental validation.

Background: The occurrence of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is associated with oxidative stress. Oxidation Balance Score (OBS) can evaluate the oxidation and antioxidant status of the body. However, we found no studies that examined the association between the two.

Aim And Objectives: The relationship between dietary metal intake and mortality risk is controversial, and we investigated the relationship between intake of five metals (iron, copper, selenium, zinc, and magnesium) and all-cause, cardiovascular mortality in the total population, gender subgroups, and age subgroups.
Materials And Methods: 17,207 participants from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) database from 2009 to 2016 were included in this study. Kaplan-Meier survival curves, multivariate Cox proportional hazards models, and restrictive cubic spline (RCS) curves were used to explore the association between metal intake and all-cause, cardiovascular mortality.

Introduction: The development of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is strongly associated with oxidative stress, but it is unclear whether increasing dietary antioxidant intake reduces the risk of COPD. Therefore, this study assessed the association between antioxidant intake and COPD in US adults aged ≥ 40 years and further examined the correlation using the Composite Dietary Antioxidant Index (CDAI).
Methods: The study included 8,257 US adults aged ≥ 40 years using data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) for three cycles from 2007-2012.

Aims: To investigate the role and mechanisms of methyltransferase-like 3 (METTL3) in the pathogenesis of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced acute lung injury (ALI).
Main Methods: LPS intratracheally instillation was applied in alveolar epithelial cell METTL3 conditional knockout (METTL3-CKO) mice and their wild-type littermates. In addition, METTL3 inhibitor STM2457 was used.

Introduction: is now one of the leading lethal mushroom species in China, with a mortality rate of more than 50%. The typical clinical manifestation of poisoning is rhabdomyolysis, and we are unaware of previous reports of -associated hemolysis.
Case Series: Herein we report a cluster of five patients with confirmed poisoning.

Context: Ferulic acid (FA) has antioxidative and anti-inflammatory effects, and is a promising drug to treat sepsis.
Objective: To study the therapeutic effect of FA in sepsis-induced acute lung injury (ALI) and its underlying mechanisms.
Materials And Methods: The caecal ligation and puncture (CLP) manoeuvre was applied to establish a murine model of sepsis-induced ALI, and female BALB/c mice (6 mice per group) were subjected to 100 mg/kg FA or 0.

Apoptosis of alveolar epithelial cells is a critical initial link in the pathogenesis of acute lung injury (ALI), recent studies have revealed that Methyl-CpG binding domain protein 2 (MBD2) was involved in the execution of apoptosis, yet its role in ALI remained unclear. In the present study, we aim to explore the role and mechanism of MBD2 in the pathogenesis of ALI. We have found that MBD2 expression, in parallel to apoptosis, increased in alveolar epithelial cells of mice treated with LPS, knockout of MBD2 reduced apoptosis and protected mice from LPS-induced ALI.

Asthma is a heterogeneous disease, and abnormal activation of T cells is the driving link of asthma's pathophysiological changes. Dual-positive Th2-Th17 cells, as newly discovered T-helper cells, have the functions of Th2 and Th17 cells and can coproduce Th2 and Th17 cytokines. Previous studies have shown that dual-positive Th2-Th17 cells increase the chances of asthma and correlate with asthma severity.
