In high altitudes, usually above 2500 m, travelers are faced with decreased partial pressure of oxygen along with decreased barometric pressure. High-altitude illness, a syndrome of acute mountain sickness, high-altitude cerebral edema and high-altitude pulmonary edema, occurs due to the hypobaric hypoxia when there is inadequate acclimatization. This review provides detailed information about pathophysiology, clinical features, prevention and treatment strategies for high-altitude illness according to the current literature.

Introduction: Approximately 50,000 patients per year present at emergency departments (EDs) because of carbon monoxide (CO) intoxication. The hypothesis of this study was that the half-life of CO and the regression period of complaints could be reduced more rapidly by applying oxygen with the Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) modality using a non-invasive mechanical ventilator.
Methods: The patients were divided into Group 1 and Group 2 in terms of the treatment method applied.

Background: Upper gastrointestinal system (GIS) bleeding is one of the most common causes of mortality and morbidity. The predictive values of pre-endoscopic Rockall score (PERS), full Rockall score (FRS), Glasgow-Blatchford score (GBS), pre-endoscopic Baylor score (PEBS), and full Baylor score (FBS) to predict bleeding at follow-up, endoscopic therapy, blood transfusion requirement, and death are investigated in our study.
Methods: This study was retrospectively conducted in patients admitted to emergency department with upper GIS bleeding.

Introduction And Purpose: The end-tidal carbon dioxide (ETCO2) measurement is accepted as the gold standard method for assessing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) efficacy. In recent studies, the use of Carotid Doppler Ultrasonography has become widespread in showing CPR efficacy. In the present study, the carotid blood flow measurement was compared with ETCO measurement and an evaluation was made of whether this method could be used as an alternative method to capnography in the assessment of CPR efficacy.

Aim: Chest compression devices are useful during mountain rescue but may cause a delay in transport if not immediately available. The aims of this prospective observational study were to compare manual and mechanical cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) during transport on a sledge connected to a snowmobile with a non-moving setting and to compare CPR quality between manual and two mechanical chest compression devices.
Methods: Sixteen healthcare providers simulated four different combined CPR scenarios on a sledge in a non-moving setting and during transport and two mechanical chest compression devices during transport on the sledge.

Background: Mortality prediction of trauma patients relies on anatomical, physiological or combined scores. The purpose of this study is to compare the diagnostic accuracy of the modified Kampala Trauma Score (M-KTS) with the Trauma Mortality Prediction Model (TMPM), and Trauma-Injury Severity Score (TRISS) using data from a large dataset from a developed registry, the National Trauma Data Bank (NTDB).
Methods: Using 2011 and 2012 data from NTDB, patient based trauma scores (M-KTS, TMPM, and TRISS) were calculated and predictive ability of M-KTS for mortality was compared with other trauma scores using receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curves.
