Background: Primary lung cancer with severe central airway obstruction (CAO) is often life-threatening. In this study, we investigated the clinical efficacy and safety of cisplatin plus recombinant human endostatin (rh-endostatin) intratumoral injection in treatment of malignant central airway obstruction (MCAO) caused by primary squamous cell lung cancer.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed patients with MCAO caused by primary squamous cell lung cancer treated with and without bronchoscopic intratumoral injection of cisplatin plus rh-endostatin between January 2007 and June 2016.

Objectives: To investigate the usefulness of neurite orientation dispersion and density imaging (NODDI) in evaluating cortical tubers, especially epileptogenic tubers in tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) patients.
Methods: High-resolution conventional MRI and multi-shell diffusion-weighted imaging were performed in 27 TSC patients. Diffusion images were fitted to NODDI and DTI models.

The objective of the present study was to assess the diagnostic value of urine, serum and plasma neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) for the early diagnosis of acute kidney injury (AKI) among patients with suspected sepsis. Therefore, a meta-analysis was carried out to evaluate diagnostic accuracy data from the literature regarding the diagnosis of AKI in patients with sepsis. Electronic databases were systematically searched for relevant studies and quality assessment was conducted using the Quality Assessment for Diagnostic Accuracy Studies 2 tool.

Background: High frequency jet ventilation (HFJV) is an open ventilating technique to maintain ventilation for emergency or difficult airway. However, whether jet ventilation or conventional oxygen therapy (COT) is more effective and safe in maintaining adequate oxygenation, is unclear among patients with airway stenosis during bronchoscopic intervention (BI) under deep sedation.
Methods: A prospective randomized cohort study was conducted to compare COT (high flow oxygen) with normal frequency jet ventilation (NFJV) and HFJV in oxygen supplementation during BI under deep sedation from March 2020 to August 2020.
The global COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted personal and work lives and created great uncertainty and stress, especially for frontline health care professionals like doctors and nurses who risk personal health while facing increased workloads and new COVID-related tasks. People can passively respond to this disruption, or they can be more active and choose to shape the conditions surrounding their work during the crisis. We designed a multiwave, multisource study examining whether a proactive orientation is a key resource for frontline health care professionals in the COVID-19 pandemic.

Objective: To minimize the adverse events of uterine compression suture in controlling postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) and to search for a prophylactic approach to potential PPH.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed in 39 women with removable retropubic uterine compression suture (RRUCS) to stop PPH due to uterine atony during cesarean section (CS). The procedure was to suspend and compress the uterus to the retropubic abdominal wall using an absorbable suture.

Background: Medical disputes, medical disturbances, verbal and physical violence against physicians, and burnout have reached epidemic levels. They may negatively impact both physicians and the healthcare system. The experience of medical disputes, medical disturbances, verbal, and physical violence, and burnout and the correlates in physicians working in public hospitals in China needed to be investigated.

Objectives: The aim of the study was to present our modified flap pyeloplasty techniques for recurrent ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJO) with a long proximal ureteral stricture and compare outcomes of laparoscopic and robotic procedures.
Materials And Methods: Between March 2018 and January 2020, 21 patients underwent modified laparoscopic or robotic flap pyeloplasty for recurrent UPJO with a long proximal ureteral stricture. Our surgical modifications included the "wishbone" anastomosis and "ureteral plate" technique.

Materials And Methods: A total of 25 patients who underwent ileal ureter replacement (10 RALS and 15 LS) were followed by functional cine magnetic resonance urography (MRU) combined with a modified Whitaker test. Also, the characteristics, perioperative data and functional outcomes of the patients were compared.

Aims: The current study aims to explore if a family history of diabetes can influence the efficiency of lifestyle intervention on insulin secretion and study the insulin resistance in Chinese men and women with metabolic syndrome in a cohort with a 2-year follow-up.
Methods: 151 individuals (90 individuals did not have a family history of diabetes (DMFH (-)) and 61 with a family history of diabetes (DMFH (+)) with metabolic syndrome participated in the lifestyle intervention program at baseline and finished with 1-year follow-up. 124 individuals have two-year follow-up data.

Intestinal stem cells (ISCs) residing in the crypts are critical for the continual self-renewal and rapid recovery of the intestinal epithelium. The regulatory mechanism of ISCs is not fully understood. Here we report that CREPT, a recently identified tumor-promoting protein, is required for the maintenance of murine ISCs.

Anlotinib is a novel molecular targeted drug that has been approved for the treatment of lung adenocarcinoma. Currently these agents are rarely used in the treatment of lung squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC). Bronchoscope-guided radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is a new strategy proposed for the treatment of LSCC that is able to alleviate the obstruction of the respiratory tract caused by LSCC by direct destruction of the tumor tissues.

Micro (mi)RNAs are crucial participants in the progression of cervical cancer (CC). Growing evidence indicates that miRNA (miR)‑34c‑5p is a pivotal tumor suppressor in numerous types of cancer and its functions in CC require further investigating. The present study demonstrated that there was a decreased level of miR‑34c‑5p in CC‑associated cell lines compared with healthy control samples.

There was limited evidence regarding the association between short-term exposure to ambient particulate matter (PM) and respiratory outpatient visits among children at a multicity level. In this study, a time-series study was conducted among children aged 0-14 years in five Chinese cities from 2013 to 2018. City-specific effects of fine particles (PM), inhalable particles (PM) and coarse particles (PM) were estimated for time lags of zero up to seven previous days using the overdispersed generalized additive models after adjusting for time trends, meteorological variables, day of the week and holidays.

Background: Hemorrhage is a life-threatening complication during bronchoscopic intervention in patients with central airway obstruction (CAO) due to metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Whether pre-bronchoscopic bronchial arterial embolization (BAE) can reduce the risk of severe bleeding in CAO patients due to metastatic RCC remains unclear.
Methods: A total of 31 CAO patients due to metastatic RCC were included retrospectively and divided into a BAE group (receiving pre-bronchoscopic BAE) and non-BAE group in this study.
