Effect of Pressure-Controlled Ventilation-Volume Guaranteed on One-Lung Ventilation in Elderly Patients Undergoing Thoracotomy.

BACKGROUND Volume-controlled ventilation (VCV) in one-lung ventilation (OLV) is most commonly used in thoracotomy, but pressure-controlled ventilation-volume guaranteed (PCV-VG) is used in elderly patients to improve arterial oxygenation, reduce inflammatory factors, and decrease acute lung injury (ALI). The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of these 2 different ventilation modes - VCV versus PCV-VG - during OLV in elderly patients undergoing thoracoscopic lobectomy. MATERIAL AND METHODS Sixty patients undergoing thoracoscopic lobectomy from September 2018 to February 2019 at Cangzhou Central Hospital, Hebei, China were randomly assigned to a VCV group or a PCV-VG group.

Effects of Radon From Hot Springs on Lymphocyte Subsets in Peripheral Blood.

Objective: To analyze changes in immune functions by detecting lymphocyte subsets in the peripheral blood of residents in the vicinity of radon from hot springs.

Methods: Two groups were randomly selected; 61 residents in the vicinity of the hot springs were assigned to the radon group, and 51 residents with a similar lifestyle and habits but no contact with hot springs were assigned to the control group. The percentages of lymphocyte subsets (CD3, CD4CD8, CD4CD8, CD4/CD8, and TCR/CD3) in the 2 groups were evaluated on a FACS Aria flow cytometer.

Efficacy of Bronchoalveolar Lavage as Adjunct Therapy in the Treatment of Neonatal Severe Pneumonia: A Prospective Case-Control Study.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy and safety of bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) in the treatment of neonatal severe pneumonia (NSP).

To exploring a new minimally invasive method for the removal of moderate and severe glabellar frown lines. The corrugator supercilii muscles were subjected to blunt cutting and vacuum suction by using a self-made modified liposuction needle,and the obtained muscle particles were backfilled subcutaneously into the depression area between eyebrows to expand the wrinkles. Seventeen cases were followed up for six to twelve months after the operation.

Primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS) is associated with an increased risk of lymphoma, especially non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. The rarest pathological subtype is T-cell lymphoma. We herein report a case of a 52-year-old man with a 17-year history of pSS who was admitted to our hospital with chronic epigastric pain and a positive fecal occult blood test.

Background: To compare the outcomes of ultra-fast-track anesthesia (UFTA) and conventional anesthesia in cardiac surgery for children with congenital heart disease (CHD) and low birth weight.

Methods: One hundred and ninety-four CHD children, aged 6 months to 2 years, weighting 5 to 10 kg, were selected for this study. The 94 boys and 100 girls with the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status III and IV were randomly divided into two groups each consisting of 97 patients, and were subjected to ultra-fast-track and conventional anesthesia for cardiac surgery.

Clinical application of photodynamic therapy for malignant airway tumors in China.

With the development of interventional pulmonology, photodynamic therapy (PDT) is gradually being used in the treatment of respiratory malignant tumors because of its low level of trauma, high specificity, and compatibility with traditional or common therapies. However, at present, the data of clinical evidence-based medicine for PDT applied in central airway tumors is very limited, and derives mainly from case reports or series of case studies which lack consensus on clinical diagnosis and treatment. In order to further disseminate China's experience, the Tumor Photodynamic Therapy Committee of China Anti-Cancer Association and the World Endoscopy Association-Respiratory Endoscopy Association invited experts from relevant fields to form an expert committee.

Background: Glioblastoma (GB) is one of the most common malignancies with limited standard therapies such as surgery, radiotherapy (RT) plus temozolomide (TMZ). Molecularly targeted drugs have been investigated among various clinical trials and are expected to develop in the field of tumor therapy, while the efficacy remains uncertain due to limited previous results.
