Background: This study evaluates the psychometric properties of the Turkish version of the Nine-Item Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder Screen (NIAS) in a population of Turkish adolescents.

Method: The NIAS, designed to screen for ARFID symptoms, including picky eating, fear-related eating behaviors, and low appetite, was administered to secondary school students between 13 and 18 ages in Muğla, Turkiye.

Results: Based on a sample of 268 adolescents, the NIAS's reliability and validity in this demographic are supported.

Clinical significance of small extracellular vesicles in cholangiocarcinoma.

Cholangiocarcinoma is an aggressive and heterogeneous malignancy originating from the bile duct epithelium. It is associated with poor prognosis and high mortality. The global incidence of cholangiocarcinoma is rising, and there is an urgent need for effective early diagnosis and treatment strategies to reduce the burden of this devastating tumor.

Only studies in English involving adults were accepted, while meeting abstracts and preclinical studies were excluded.

Background: The aim of this study was to determine how the levels of peptide and protein-based biomarkers in cerebrospinal fluid change in bacterial, tuberculous, and aseptic meningitis, and to determine the success of these agents in distinguishing between different types of infectious meningitis.

Is It Possible to Replace Conventional Radiography (CR) with a Dose Neutral Computed Tomography (CT) of the Cervical Spine in Emergency Radiology-An Experimental Cadaver Study.

Unlabelled: The purpose of this experimental study on recently deceased human cadavers was to investigate whether (I) the radiation exposure of the cervical spine CT can be reduced comparable to a dose level of conventional radiography (CR); and (II) whether and which human body parameters can be predictive for higher dose reduction potential (in this context).

Materials And Methods: Seventy serial CT scans of the cervical spine of 10 human cadavers undergoing postmortem virtual autopsy were taken using stepwise decreasing upper limits of the tube current (300 mAs, 150 mAs, 110 mAs, 80 mAs, 60 mAs, 40 mAs, and 20 mAs) at 120 kVp. An additional scan acquired at a fixed tube current of 300 mAs served as a reference.

Timing of cholecystectomy in recurrent attacks of acute cholecystitis.

Background: Although laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) is the standard treatment for acute cholecystitis, its optimal timing is still controversial. In this study, our aim is to determine the appropriate cholecystectomy time by comparing the results of emergency and elective cholecystectomy in patients presenting with recurrent acute cholecystitis.

Methods: Between January 2019 and January 2022, the data of 434 patients who were scheduled for late cholecystectomy and were admitted to our hospital with recurrent cholecystitis attacks during the waiting period were retrospectively evaluated.

The role of trimetazidine in ischemia/reperfusion damage treatment in an ovary torsion model experimentally induced in rats.

The aim of this experimental animal study was to investigate the histopathological and biochemical efficacy of trimetazidine (TMZ) in decreasing ovary damage in an ovary ischaemia/reperfusion (I/R) model in the rat. A total of 35 Wistar albino female rats were randomly separated into five groups,  = 7 per group: Group 1: Sham (S) was only given a laparotomy procedure. Group 2: Ischaemia (I) group with 2-hour ischaemia using a vascular sutur.

Angiotensin receptor neprilysin inhibitor for patients with heart failure and reduced ejection fraction: Real-world experience from Turkey (ARNi-TR).

Objective: Heart failure (HF) is a growing public health problem with high morbidity and mortality. Recently, angiotensin receptor neprilysin inhibitor (ARNi) has emerged as a promising treatment for HF with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). Here, we shared our experience with the use of ARNi in HFrEF from multiple centers in Turkey.

Clinical research of insulin glargine U300 basal-bolus therapy and insulin degludec/aspart co-formulation in type 2 diabetes mellitus: A real world experience.

Aims: Insulin degludec/aspart (IDegAsp) and insulin glargine U300 (IGlarU300) have recently emerged as popular new-generation insulin analogues. The aim of this real-life study was to investigate the patient profiles in which IGlarU300 and IDegAsp were preferred and the insulin combinations after which each of them were mostly used and also to analyse the effect of these two insulin analogues on blood glucose regulation and hypoglycaemia.

Materials And Methods: The retrospective study included 174 patients that were switched from basal insulin, basal-bolus insulin, or premixed insulin to IGlarU300 or IDegAsp due to uncontrolled blood glucose levels or history of hypoglycaemia.

Antimicrobial de-escalation in the critically ill patient and assessment of clinical cure: the DIANA study.

Purpose: The DIANA study aimed to evaluate how often antimicrobial de-escalation (ADE) of empirical treatment is performed in the intensive care unit (ICU) and to estimate the effect of ADE on clinical cure on day 7 following treatment initiation.

Methods: Adult ICU patients receiving empirical antimicrobial therapy for bacterial infection were studied in a prospective observational study from October 2016 until May 2018. ADE was defined as (1) discontinuation of an antimicrobial in case of empirical combination therapy or (2) replacement of an antimicrobial with the intention to narrow the antimicrobial spectrum, within the first 3 days of therapy.

Targeting E-cadherin expression with small molecules for digestive cancer treatment.

Digestive system cancers, mainly including gastric cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, pancreatic cancer, and colorectal cancer, are major public health problems and lead to serious cancer-related deaths worldwide. Clinically, treatment strategies of these cancers include surgery, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy. Although successful resection and chemotherapeutic drugs have improved the treatment level, the survival rate of patients with advanced digestive system cancers remains still low primarily due to tumor metastasis.

Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is a life‑threatening disease and seriously influences patient quality of life. Long non‑coding RNAs (lncRNAs), an emerging class of non‑coding genes, have attracted attention in research, however, whether lncRNAs serve a function in acute ischemic hypoxia remains to be elucidated. In the present study, an lncRNA microarray was used to analyze differential lncRNA expression in acute ischemic hypoxia.

[Urgent surgical care for patients with colon cancer complicated by hemorrhage].

Aim: To evaluate an effectiveness of various hemostatic methods in patients with colon and rectal cancer.

Material And Methods: 77 urgent patients with colon and rectal cancer complicated by bleeding were enrolled. Medication was effective in 11 patients (group 1), endoscopic hemostasis in 47 patients (group 2), vascular embolization in 2 cases (group 3), internal iliac arteries ligation in 2 patients (group 4), 15 patients underwent emergency resection (group 5).

The organisation of physiotherapy for people with multiple sclerosis across Europe: a multicentre questionnaire survey.

Background: Understanding the organisational set-up of physiotherapy services across different countries is increasingly important as clinicians around the world use evidence to improve their practice. This also has to be taken into consideration when multi-centre international clinical trials are conducted. This survey aimed to systematically describe organisational aspects of physiotherapy services for people with multiple sclerosis (MS) across Europe.

Nocardiosis in Heart Transplant Recipients.

Nocardia has emerged as an important opportunistic pathogen, especially in organ transplant recipients. Heart transplant (HT) recipients initially had an especially high rate of Nocardia infection, but this could be reduced by the routine use of cyclosporine. Our objective was to clarify the prevalence and presentation of Nocardiosis in HT recipients in a retrospective cross-sectional analysis.

In consequence, a very large number of imaging examinations are performed, but diagnostic instruments are installed in so many medical facilities that expert management of these examinations tends to be insufficient.
