Background: The proper imaging modality for use in the selection of patients for endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) presenting in the late window remains controversial, despite current guidelines advocating the use of advanced imaging in this population. We sought to understand if clinicians with different specialty training differ in their approach to patient selection for EVT in the late time window.
Methods: We conducted an international survey of stroke and neurointerventional clinicians between January and May 2022 with questions focusing on imaging and treatment decisions of large vessel occlusion (LVO) patients presenting in the late window.

: Laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) is one of the most performed surgeries worldwide. Procedure difficulty and patient outcomes depend on several factors which are not considered in the current literature, including the learning curve, generating confusing and subjective results. This study aims to create a scoring system to calculate the learning curve of LC based on hepatobiliopancreatic (HPB) experts' opinions during an educational course.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has affected millions of people around the world. Vaccination against COVID-19 has been approved for the following three vaccines in the United States: Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, and Janssen. Hematological complications of vaccination have been reported in the literature but remain as a rare phenomenon.

Follicular lymphoma is the most common indolent non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, and because of the incurable nature of this disorder, new therapies are constantly needed. The recently approved T-cell-dependent bispecific antibody mosunetuzumab showed promising results and manageable toxicities for patients with relapsed or refractory follicular lymphoma. Namely, as opposed to cellular immunotherapy options, this agent has the potential of being effective in patients with unfavorable features with a tolerable rate and severity of cytokine release syndrome, immune effector cell-associated neurotoxicity, and infectious complications.

Minimal change disease (MCD) is a well-known cause of fulminant acute nephrotic syndrome (NS) and has been associated with thrombotic complications. We report the case of a 51-year-old woman with previous biopsy-proven MCD in remission who presented with worsening headache and acute confusion shortly after a relapse of the NS and was diagnosed with cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) complicated by intracranial hemorrhage and midline shift. One month prior, she had been initiated on an oral contraceptive agent during remission of the NS.

Renal vein thrombosis (RVT), defined as the presence of a thrombus in the major renal vein or one of its tributaries, can present acutely or go unnoticed resulting in acute kidney injury or chronic kidney disease. RVT is associated with multiple etiologies, including nephrotic syndrome, thrombophilia, autoimmune disorders, and malignancy. Patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), a multiorgan autoimmune disorder, are predisposed to coagulopathy and thus are at a higher risk of venous and arterial thromboembolism.

Objective: Recently evolving practice patterns in complex aortic surgery have led to regionalization of care within fewer centers in the United States, and thus patients may have to travel farther for complex aortic care. Travel distance has been associated with inferior outcomes after non-vascular surgery, particularly non-index readmission. This study aims to assess the impact of patient travel distance on perioperative outcomes and readmissions after complex aortic surgery.

Background: Disturbances in serum sodium concentration (dysnatremia) are common following aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH), but its direct impact on outcomes is not well understood. This study aimed to examine the association between dysnatremia following aSAH and patient outcomes.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study of consecutive patients with aSAH who were admitted to an academic referral center between 2015 and 2021 was performed.

Background: Although a β-catenin mutated hepatocellular adenoma (HCA) is a benign liver tumor, it can cause bleeding, obstruction, pain, and hepatocellular carcinoma. Because surgery needs to balance these risks with its morbidity, a minimally invasive approach may be well suited. In this report, a strategic approach to minimally invasive resection of HCA encompassing segment 4a (S4a) is reviewed.

Therapies for COVID-19 prevention or treatment continue to play a significant role for individuals who are not able to mount an adequate immune response after COVID-19 vaccination and/or in patients who are at high-risk for severe outcomes of COVID-19 infection. As these modalities have become more available, it is important to assess the public's interest in these agents to ensure both patients and physicians are aware of the therapeutics available to them. Google Trends is a freely available tool that researchers can use for monitoring public interest by analyzing trends in search queries during disease outbreaks.

Introduction: Like metabolic acidosis, earlier stages of acid (H+) stress, including an ongoing H+ challenge in the form of dietary H+, without or with steady-state H+ accumulation but with normal plasma total CO2 (PTCO2) (the latter state known as eubicarbonatemic acidosis), are associated with augmented progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD), but diagnosis of this covert H+ stress is clinically problematic. Prior published studies to identify clinically practical biomarkers of covert H+ stress did not include assessments of either dietary H+ or H+ retention.
Methods: We tested plasma pH (PpH), 8-h urine excretion of citrate (UcitV) or ammonium (UNH4+V) as biomarkers of dietary H+ assessed as potential renal acid load (PRAL), and of steady-state H+ retention by comparing observed to expected PTCO2 increase 2 h after an oral NaHCO3 bolus.

Background: Biliary atresia (BA) is one of the causes of conjugated hyperbilirubinemia in infants which if untreated leads to end-stage liver disease and death. Percutaneous Trans-hepatic Cholecysto-Cholangiography (PTCC) is a minimally invasive study which can be utilized in the diagnostic work-up of these patients. This study's purpose is to describe the experience with PTCC in neonates, the imaging findings encountered, and the abnormal patterns which warrant further investigation.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the Society for Vascular Surgery Vascular Quality Initiative (VQI) postapproval study (VQI PAS) data for the impact of TEVAR timing for uTBAD on early and late outcomes, including mortality, procedural complications, and long-term reintervention.
Methods: The VQI PAS used for this analysis includes a total of 606 patients.

Summary: Tumor-induced osteomalacia (TIO) is a rare form of osteomalacia caused by fibroblast growth factor-23 (FGF23)-secreting tumors. Most of these tumors are phosphaturic mesenchymal tumors (PMTs) typically involving soft tissue in the extremities and bone of the appendicular skeleton and cranium. We report the case of a 60-year-old woman with about 3 years of persistent bone pain and multiple fractures, initially diagnosed as osteoporosis, who was found to have hypophosphatemia with low 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D and elevated alkaline phosphatase and inappropriately normal FGF23 consistent with TIO.
