Background: Lack of a liver surgeon (LS) may lead to failure to cure in patients with possibly resectable colorectal liver metastases (CRLM). This study aims to quantify the failure-to-cure rate due to noninclusion of an LS.
Patients And Methods: All patients who underwent chemotherapy with palliative intent for CRLM at a community oncology network between 2010 and 2018 were identified from a prospectively maintained cancer registry.

Objective: The study aimed to describe preterm birth (PTB) rates, subtypes, and risk factors in twins compared with singletons to better understand reasons for the decline in PTB rate between 2007 and 2011.
Study Design: This was a retrospective population-based analysis using the California linked birth certificates and maternal-infant hospital discharge records from 2007 to 2011. The main outcomes were overall, spontaneous (following spontaneous labor or preterm premature rupture of membranes), and medically indicated PTB at various gestational age categories: <37, <32, and 34 to 36 weeks in twins and singletons.

Background And Objectives: When given within 24 hours of birth, the hepatitis B vaccine is up to 90% effective in preventing perinatal infection. The American Academy of Pediatrics now recommends administration within 24 hours for infants with a birth weight >2 kg, but a national benchmark for compliance with this time frame has not been established. We aimed to increase the monthly average of eligible newborns receiving the vaccine on time from 40% to 80% over a 9-month period.

Background: There is a paucity of contemporary data regarding the outcomes of acute myocardial infarction among patients with familial hypercholesteremia.
Methods: We queried the Nationwide Readmissions Database (2016-2018) for hospitalizations with acute myocardial infarction. Multivariable regression analysis was used to compare in-hospital outcomes and 30-day readmissions among patients with and without familial hypercholesteremia.

Introduction: The maximal allowable contrast dose (MACD = 5 × body weight/serum creatinine) is an empiric equation that has been used and validated in several studies to mitigate the risk of contrast-induced acute kidney injury (CI-AKI). However, coefficient 5 (referred to as factor K) was empirically devised and never disputed. The aim of this study was to refine the MACD equation for the prediction of CI-AKI following percutaneous coronary interventions (PCIs).

Celiac disease (CD) is a systemic immune-mediated disorder against gluten, leading to an autoantibody response causing damage to the small intestinal mucosa. CD has been associated with gastrointestinal malignancies, most commonly gastrointestinal lymphoma. Rare malignancies have also been reported, such as small intestinal adenocarcinoma.

Background: While observation of T1(≤2cm) nonfunctioning pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (NF-PanNETs) is an accepted practice, an ill-defined subgroup of patients with T1 tumors develops metastases. This study aimed to identify those patients via clinical factors.
Methods: Patients from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) registry who were diagnosed with NF-PanNET with size ≤2cm between 1998 and 2014 and who underwent primary tumor resection were identified.

There has been an increasing role in the use of injectable fillers for rejuvenation of the aging face. In this systematic review, we aim to evaluate the existing literature related to soft tissue fillers of the midface. Specifically, we focus on the non-hyaluronic acid fillers including polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA), poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA), and autologous fat.

Injectable fillers represent one of the most requested minimally invasive treatments to rejuvenate the aging face, and its popularity is steadily rising. A vast majority of filler treatments are with hyaluronic acid (HA). The aim of this systematic review is to evaluate patient outcomes, safety profile, and administration techniques of various HA fillers for malar augmentation.

Cerebral salt wasting (CSW) is an uncommon cause of hyponatremia characterized by extracellular volume depletion, high urine sodium concentration and osmolality, and low serum uric acid concentration in association with central nervous system (CNS) disease. Distinguishing CSW from the syndrome of inappropriate secretion of antidiuretic hormone (SIADH), a much more common form of hyponatremia in this setting, can be challenging because both present with identical laboratory features. However, treatment of CSW and SIADH differs, making a correct diagnosis important.

Objective: The objective of this study was to explore the extent of IV immunoglobulin (IVIG) treatment-related fluctuations (TRFs) by using home collection of daily grip strength in patients with chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP) and to use that information to develop evidence-based treatment optimization strategies.
Methods: This prospective observational study included 25 patients with well-defined CIDP. Participants recorded grip strength daily for 6 months.

Background And Aims: Many forms of immune dysregulation, which lead to inflammaging and senescence, have been demonstrated in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE; lupus) and in the aging population. The discovery of the microbiome and its association with human health and pathology has led it to be the center of investigation as a major contributor to the pathogenesis of immunosenescence in both populations. Similar alterations to the microbiome in the form of dysbiosis, that are demonstrated in both aging and in lupus patients, may help explain the significant overlap in clinical manifestations seen in these groups.

The management of breast cancer, the most common cancer in the female population, has changed dramatically over years with the introduction of newer therapies. An increased incidence of brain metastases in recent years has created a challenge for oncologists because this population continues to have a poorer prognosis compared to metastatic breast cancer without central nervous system involvement. Historically, the exclusion of breast cancer patients with brain metastases from clinical trials has made treatment options even more limited.

Background And Objectives: Buprenorphine's high-binding affinity as a partial µ-opioid agonist displaces preexisting full agonists causing precipitated withdrawal, which requires most individuals starting buprenorphine to endure moderate withdrawal prior to induction to avoid precipitated withdrawal. A novel approach called microinduction has emerged to remove this prerequisite. Our aim is to review the literature on these alternative approaches.

Introduction: Men diagnosed with localized prostate cancer must navigate a highly preference-sensitive decision between treatment options with varying adverse outcome profiles. We evaluated whether use of a decision support tool previously shown to decrease decisional conflict also impacted the secondary outcome of post-treatment decision regret.
Methods: Participants were randomized to receive personalized decision support via the Personal Patient Profile-Prostate or usual care prior to a final treatment decision.
