Background: This investigation examined the development of psychosomatics in the field of otolaryngology in Germany using the examples of psychogenic deafness and chronic tinnitus by means of literature research. The focus of the study was on the period 1948-2022.

Methods: A literature search was carried out in the PubMed database from 1948 and antiquarian ENT textbooks were evaluated.

A 60-year-old female was admitted to internal medicine with a painful left knee after a fall and pneumonia. She had undergone a primary cemented left total knee arthroplasty in 2019 and a right cemented total knee arthroplasty in 2021. Impact of Systemic Sclerosis-Associated Interstitial Lung Disease With and Without Pulmonary Hypertension on Survival: A Large Cohort Study of the German Network for Systemic Sclerosis.

Background: Pulmonary involvement is the leading cause of death in systemic sclerosis (SSc) and may manifest as interstitial lung disease (ILD), pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), or in combination of both (ILD with pulmonary hypertension [ILD-PH]). The aim of this analysis was to determine prevalence, clinical characteristics, and survival of these different forms within the registry of the German Network for Systemic Sclerosis.

Research Question: Does SSc-associated ILD-PH or ILD without PH affect survival differently, and are there any risk factors that have an additional impact?

Study Design And Methods: Clinical data of 5,831 patients with SSc were collected in the German Network for Systemic Sclerosis registry.

Objective: In cochlear implantation with flexible lateral wall electrodes, a cochlear coverage of 70% to 80% is assumed to yield an optimal speech perception. Context: Symptomatic lymphocele (sLC) occurs at a frequency of 2-10% after robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) with pelvic lymph node dissection (PLND). Construction of bilateral peritoneal interposition flaps (PIFs) subsequent to completion of RARP + PLND has been introduced to reduce the risk of lymphocele, and was initially evaluated on the basis of retrospective studies.

Objective: To conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis of only randomized controlled trials (RCTs) evaluating the impact of PIF on the rate of sLC (primary endpoint) and of overall lymphocele (oLC) and Clavien-Dindo grade ≥3 complications (secondary endpoints) to provide the best available evidence.

Here, we mathematically analyzed the suitability of different flexible lateral wall electrode array lengths covering between 70% and 80% of the CDL.

Characteristics and Long-Term Outcome of 535 Patients with Autoimmune Hepatitis-The 20-Year Experience of a High-Volume Tertiary Center.

Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) is a complex and progressive inflammatory liver disease characterized by immune-mediated destruction of the liver parenchyma, hypergammaglobulinemia, the presence of circulating autoantibodies, and good response to immunosuppressive therapy. Since the prevalence of AIH is relatively rare, data on the clinical course and the long-term outcome are scarce. We retrospectively analyzed the data of 535 well-documented AIH patients treated at the University Hospital Essen between 2000 and 2020.

[Health-related quality of life in chronic otitis media-measurement methods and their application in surgical therapy].

Background: Chronic otitis media (COM) can lead to significant impairment of health-related quality of life (HRQoL) due to symptoms such as otorrhea, pain, hearing loss, tinnitus, or dizziness.
