According to WHO, the number of elderly and senile people by 2050 will amount to more than 2 billion people. The period 2020-2030 is designated by WHO as the «Decade of Healthy Aging» with a program according to which healthy aging is designed to delay the dependence of this age group on outside help, to promote their long healthy life. Such a statement of the problem indicates an understanding of the relevance of the development of functionally comfortable and aesthetically designed clothing and footwear designs that provide this contingent with independence in self-service and contribute to their successful longevity.

The effect of the presence of titanium dioxide in two new imines, (,)-(butane-1,4-diyl)bis(oxybutane-4,1-diyl) bis(4-{[(benzo[][1,3]thiazol-2-yl)methylidene]amino}benzoate) (SP1) and ()--[(benzo[][1,3]thiazol-2-yl)methylidene]-4-dodecylaniline (SP2), on the properties and stability of imine:TiO composites for organic device applications were examined. The investigated titanium dioxide (in anatase form, obtained via the sol-gel method) exhibited a surface area of 59.5 m/g according to Brunauer-Emmett-Teller theory, and its structure is a combination of both meso- and microporous.

Objective: The article represents the preliminary study, with the aim of the experiment being to examine whether different types of light sources used commonly in building interiors combined with various color temperature have an effect on EEG activity. The effect of frequency pulsation and color temperature on brain activity in EEG examinations in the beta 2 band was assumed.
Material/participants: Twenty healthy men aged 19-25 years participated in the experiment.

Theoretical studies of polyazomethines (PAZs) with various chemical structures designated for photovoltaic applications are presented. PAZ energy levels and optical properties were calculated within density-functional theory (DFT and TDDFT) framework for 28 oligomers (monomer, dimer and trimer) of PAZs. The correlations between chemical structure of PAZ and location of its highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) energy levels were examined.

In this paper a novel approach for the practical utilization of the 2D wavelet filter in terms of the artifacts removal from atomic force microscopy measurements results is presented. The utilization of additional data such as summary photodiode signal map is implemented in terms of the identification of the areas requiring the data processing, filtering settings optimization and the verification of the process performance. Such an approach allows to perform the filtering parameters adjustment by average user, while the straightforward method requires an expertise in this field.

This paper reviews materials for thermoelectric waste heat recovery, and discusses selected industrial and distributed waste heat sources as well as recovery methods that are currently applied. Thermoelectric properties, especially electrical conductivity, thermopower, thermal conductivity and the thermoelectric figures of merit, are considered when evaluating thermoelectric materials for waste heat recovery. Alloys and oxides are briefly discussed as materials suitable for medium- and high-grade sources.

Conditions of oscillatory instability development in the extraction system of a negative hydrogen ion source based on a volume-produced plasma are studied. Such an ion source is characterized by the presence of the parent gas in the extraction system due to the leakage from the gas-discharge chamber. The secondary electrons in the area of the ion-optical system become the reason of oscillation appearance and possible beam current modulation.

Four symmetrical N-acylsubstituted dihydrazones containing bithiophene core were synthesized from condensation of 2,2'-bithiophene-5,5'-dicarboxyaldehyde with benzoic, isonicotinoyl, 2-thiophenic and 2-furoic hydrazide. The obtained compounds were characterized through the data from (1)H nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR), infrared spectroscopy (IR), elemental analysis, UV-vis absorption spectroscopy, photoluminescence (PL), cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) measurements. Additionally, the electronic properties including orbital energies and resulting energy gaps were calculated by density functional theory (DFT).

New catalytically or high pressure activated reactions and routes, including coupling, double bond migration in allylic systems, and various types of cycloaddition and dihydroamination have been used for the synthesis of novel bithiophene derivatives. Thanks to the abovementioned reactions and routes combined with non-catalytic ones, new acetylene, butadiyne, isoxazole, 1,2,3-triazole, pyrrole, benzene, and fluoranthene derivatives with one, two or six bithiophenyl moieties have been obtained. Basic sources of crucial substrates which include bithiophene motif for catalytic reactions were 2,2'-bithiophene, gaseous acetylene and 1,3-butadiyne.

We have explored the photoluminescence (PL) and electronic properties, that is, orbital energies and resulting energy gap calculated theoretically by density functional theory (DFT) of four unsymmetrical (UAz1-UAz4) azomethines. All of the investigated compounds exhibited mesomorphic behavior. The photoluminescence studies have shown that molecular structure of the imines influenced both the PL properties and HOMO-LUMO levels of azomethines.

In this paper we present the results of morphological, mechanical and electrical investigation of the properties of prepared graphene flakes and graphene-based quantum Hall devices. AFM imaging allowed us to identify the local imperfections and unintentional modifications of the graphene sheets which had caused severe deterioration of the device electrical performance. Utilizing the NanoSwing imaging method, based on the time-resolved tapping mode, we could observe non-homogeneities of the structural and mechanical properties.

The synthesis and detailed (physico)-chemical ((1)H/(13)C NMR, FTIR, UV-vis and elemental analysis) characterizations of new star-shaped compounds based on tris(2-aminoethyl)amine, including in their structure an azomethine function (HCN-) and alkoxysemiperfluorinated (-O-(CH(2))(3)-(CF(2))(7)-CF(3)), octadecyloxy aliphatic (-O-(CH(2))(17)-CH(3)) chain or two phenyl rings (-Ph-Ph-) as a terminal group, were reported. The mesomorphic behavior was investigated by means of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), polarized optical microscopy (POM) and additionally by FTIR(T) and UV-vis(T) spectroscopy. Wide-angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD) technique was used to probe the structural properties of the azomethines.

The UV-vis absorption properties of undoped and doped 1,4-phenylenemethylidynenitrilo-1,4-phenylenenitrilomethylidyne (PAZ) in various temperatures are reported. It is demonstrated that the absorption spectra can be modified not only by changing the temperature from 193K to 413K, but also via acid-base doping involving the protonation of nitrogen atom in imine group. The use of special protonating agent, i.
