The use of the wide-awake local anesthesia no tourniquet technique in foot and ankle injuries.

Purpose: Although the wide-awake anesthesia no tourniquet (WALANT) technique has demonstrated high efficacy, safety, patient satisfaction, and cost-effectiveness in hand surgery, there are limited data on its use in foot and ankle surgery. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of the WALANT technique in selected foot and ankle injuries in terms of intra- and post-operative characteristics.

Material And Methods: Patients with foot and ankle injuries who underwent surgery with the WALANT technique were evaluated in this retrospective study.

Prevalence of antibiotic resistance in fecal flora before transrectal ultrasound-guided prostate biopsy and the clinical impact of targeted antibiotic prophylaxis.

Objectives: In this study, we aimed to evaluate ciprofloxacin resistance and the presence of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase producing organisms (ESBLs) in the population of patients with indication to undergo prostate biopsy. Our additional aim was to compare the targeted antibiotic prophylaxis and sepsis rates after transrectal ultrasound guided prostate biopsy in patients who received routine ciprofloxacin prophylaxis and to evaluate the predictive factors of antibiotic resistance.

Methods: Between September 2012 and January 2014, 300 patients were randomized to two groups.

Periprosthetic Femur Fracture Occuring after Contralateral Neglected Femoral Neck Fracture.

Introduction: Periprosthetic fractures of the femur are uncommon, but at times may lead to complications especially in elderly patients. As treatment of these fractures is difficult, prevention by identifying the risk factors is the best way to overcome these complex problems.

Case Report: A periprosthetic right femur fracture associated with a neglected left femoral neck fracture in the contralateral femur in a 78-year-old elder woman patient is reported in the present article.

Fracture of the cemented femoral component following hemiarthroplasty in physically active patient: A case report.

Introduction: Fracture of the femoral stem following hip arthroplasty has become very rare since the developments in modern prosthetic designs. Prevention by identifying the risk factors is the best way to overcome these complex problems, as treatment is difficult.

Association between well-known histopathological criteria and overall survival in invasive ductal carcinoma.

Unlabelled: We investigated the effect of clinical features and well-known histomorphological parameters on survival of breast cancer.

Material And Methods: 44 patients with invasive ductal carcinoma were included in this study. We investigated the effect of age, breast cancer location (right/left), histological grade, largest diameter of the tumor, lymphovascular and perineural invasion on patient survival.

Clinical results of laparoscopic appendectomy in patients with complicated and uncomplicated appendicitis.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical results of laparoscopic appendectomy (LA) for the treatment of uncomplicated and complicated appendicitis. Affective temperaments in pregnancy.

Aim: There are many studies on the mood disorders that occur during pregnancy, but no studies that question how affective temperaments, which are the antecedents of the mood disorders, are influenced by pregnancy. This study aims to examine the affective temperaments in women without any psychiatric diagnoses during the pregnancy period.

Method: The study included 100 pregnant women at the third trimester of their pregnancy (pregnant group) and 75 non-pregnant women (control group).

Association between gene polymorphisms in TIM1, TSLP, IL18R1 and childhood asthma in Turkish population.

Effect of orally administered simvastatin on prevention of postoperative adhesion in rats.

Aim: Formation of adhesions in the abdominal region appearing after abdominal pelvic surgery lead to infertility, chronic pelvic pain, intestinal obstructions, difficulty and morbidity at the following operations, and increased morbidity. The aim of our study is to examine the effectiveness of orally administered simvastatin on preventing the postoperative adhesion.
