Introduction: Soft tissue hemangiomas are among the most prevalent soft tissue tumors and can pose diagnostic challenges due to their propensity to extend into various regions. In our case, imaging studies facilitated effective characterization of the mass, and timely intervention with sclerotherapy enabled adequate initial control of the lesion. Subsequently, medical management with propranolol and a second scheduled surgical intervention with sclerotherapy contributed to a reduction in the lesion size, alleviation of symptoms, and improvement in prognosis.

  • Antibiotics are essential for treating infections and preventing illness, but their use, especially in infants, can lead to long-term health issues due to changes in gut microbiota.
  • The disruption of gut microbiota, known as gut dysbiosis, is linked to various chronic diseases like obesity, diabetes, autoimmune disorders, and some cancers.
  • Probiotics may help counteract the negative effects of gut dysbiosis in patients with chronic diseases, potentially improving their health and inflammation markers.

  • The study analyzed global, regional, and national trends in injury burden and identified risk factors contributing to injuries using data from the GBD 2019.
  • In 2019, there were approximately 713.9 million injury incidents and 4.3 million injury-related deaths globally, with low bone mineral density emerging as the leading risk factor.
  • The findings emphasize the need for effective global injury prevention policies by highlighting the persistent impact of injuries on global health.

Diffuse pulmonary lymphangiomatosis (DLP) is an extremely rare silent disease, characterized by proliferation and thickening of abnormal pulmonary, pleural, and mediastinal soft tissue lymphatic channels. Its clinical presentation is nonspecific symptoms such as cough, dyspnea, and hemoptysis. Tomographic findings for DLP include thickening of the interlobular septa and peribronchovascular interstitium and ground glass opacities.

Nomenclature in Palliative and Kidney Supportive Care: Not Just at the End-of-Life.

Nefrologia (Engl Ed)

August 2024

Palliative Care Department, Catalan Institute of Oncology, Badalona, Spain; Faculty of Health Sciences, Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC), Barcelona, Spain. Electronic address:

The multidimensional view of disease is fundamental in the care of complex diseases such as chronic kidney disease (CKD). It is appropriate to define and unify concepts that allow the different professionals involved in care to provide a multidisciplinary approach tailored to the needs of each individual. Given the increasing incidence of CKD worldwide and the fact that the disease may progress at different rates, there is a need to establish personalized, comprehensive approaches for each patient and their families at an earlier stage.

Background: The epidemiology of traumatic brain injury (TBI) is unclear - it is estimated to affect 27-69 million individuals yearly with the bulk of the TBI burden in low-to-middle income countries (LMICs). Research has highlighted significant between-hospital variability in TBI outcomes following emergency surgery, but the overall incidence and epidemiology of TBI remains unclear. To address this need, we established the Global Epidemiology and Outcomes following Traumatic Brain Injury (GEO-TBI) registry, enabling recording of all TBI cases requiring admission irrespective of surgical treatment.
