Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) is a rare condition that frequently goes undiagnosed. Still, it is becoming an increasingly recognized cause of acute coronary syndrome (ACS), predominantly in middle-aged women with few or no cardiovascular risk factors. We present a case of a 53-year-old female with traditional cardiovascular risk factors, who presented with typical anginal symptoms and was diagnosed with SCAD in the mid to distal left anterior descending artery (LAD).

Gene expression assays (GEAs) can guide treatment for early-stage breast cancer. Several large prospective randomized clinical trials, and numerous additional studies, now provide new information for selecting an appropriate GEA. This systematic review builds upon prior reviews, with a focus on five widely commercialized GEAs (Breast Cancer Index®, EndoPredict®, MammaPrint®, Oncotype DX®, and Prosigna®).

Lung cancer, a leading cause of global cancer-related deaths, necessitates the development of innovative diagnostic techniques. Traditional bronchoscopy, while useful, has limitations in diagnosing peripheral pulmonary lesions (PPLs) and carries a higher risk of complications such as pneumothorax. However, the field of interventional pulmonology has seen significant advancements, including the introduction of robotic-assisted bronchoscopy (RAB), cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT), radial endobronchial ultrasound (R-EBUS), and rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE).

Introduction: Peritonsillar abscesses form between the tonsillar capsule, the superior constrictor, and palatopharyngeus muscles. Physicians traditionally make this diagnosis clinically; however, ultrasound allows clinicians to further identify and differentiate between peritonsillitis, peritonsillar abscess, and phlegmon formation. By increasing both the sensitivity and specificity, ultrasound improves the diagnostic accuracy for patients with peritonsillar abscesses.

Cardiac disease associated with cancer treatment is a common adverse effect that is well-treated with appropriate monitoring. However, some cardiac adverse effects with cancer treatment are not well-understood, in particular rituximab-associated ventricular tachycardia. We present the fourth case of rituximab-associated ventricular tachycardia in a patient who is rituximab-naive and who does not have known cardiac disease history.

Swimming-induced pulmonary edema (SIPE) is a rare but life-threatening acute illness that can occur in otherwise healthy athletes and individuals. Also known as immersion pulmonary edema, SIPE presents in swimmers, snorkelers, and SCUBA divers. It occurs in persons under heavy exertion in cold water temperatures, leading to coughing, shortness of breath, and sometimes blood-tinged sputum.

Fixed-dose combination (FDC) therapy, also known as polypill therapy, targets risk factors for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) and has been proposed as a strategy to reduce global ASCVD burden. Here we conducted a systematic search for relevant studies from 2016-2022 to assess the effects of FDC therapy for prevention of ASCVD. The studies selected include randomized trials evaluating FDC therapy with at least one blood pressure-lowering drug and one lipid-lowering drug.

Background: The fifth-generation SAPIEN 3 Ultra Resilia valve (S3UR) incorporates several design changes as compared with its predecessors, the SAPIEN 3 (S3) and SAPIEN 3 Ultra (S3U) valves, including bovine leaflets treated with a novel process intended to reduce structural valve deterioration via calcification, as well as a taller external skirt on the 29-mm valve size to reduce paravalvular leak (PVL). The clinical performance of S3UR compared with S3 and S3U in a large patient population has not been previously reported.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to compare S3UR to S3/S3U for procedural, in-hospital, and 30-day clinical and echocardiographic outcomes after transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR).

Although the incidence of cutaneous melanoma (CM) has been increasing annually, the mortality rate has been decreasing, likely due to better prevention, earlier detection, improved surveillance, and the development of new therapies. Current clinical management guidelines by the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) are based on patient risk assignment using staging criteria established by the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC). However, some patients with localized disease (stage I-II), generally considered to have a good prognosis, will develop metastatic disease and die, whereas some patients with later stage disease (stage III-IV) will be cured by surgery, adjuvant therapy, and/or systemic therapy.

Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) is a relatively uncommon cause of acute coronary syndrome, which is mainly reported in postpartum patients and patients without typical cardiac risk factors. Our case was a 58-year-old female with a history of diabetes, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia who presented with non-exertional crushing retrosternal chest pain and was found to have ST elevation in inferior leads. Immediate cardiac catheterization was suggestive of spontaneous dissection of the third obtuse marginal artery, which was managed conservatively.

Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is a minimally invasive procedure that involves replacing a damaged aortic valve using a catheter, typically inserted through a small incision in the leg, leading to faster recovery and reduced risks compared with traditional open-heart surgery. It is a common procedure; however, it is not without adverse events. We report a case of an 83-year-old man who underwent TAVR for the indication of severe symptomatic aortic stenosis.
