Background And Objective: Diabetic foot (DF) complications often lead to severe vascular issues. This study investigated the effectiveness of enhanced external counterpulsation (EECP) and its derived innovative compression strategies in addressing poor perfusion in DF. Although developing non-invasive and efficient treatment methods for DF is critical, the hemodynamic alterations during EECP remain underexplored despite promising outcomes in microcirculation.

Background: The main goal of this study was to examine how diabetes, cardiovascular calcification characteristics and other risk factors affect mortality in end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients in the early stages of hemodialysis.
Methods: A total of 285 ESRD patients in the early stages of hemodialysis were enrolled in this research, including 101 patients with diabetes. Survival time was monitored, and general data, biochemical results, cardiac ultrasound calcification of valvular tissue, and thoracic CT calcification of the coronary artery and thoracic aorta were recorded.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a highly prevalent cancer worldwide, but treatment outcomes can vary significantly among patients with similar clinical or historical stages. This study aimed to investigate the differences in immune cell abundance associated with malignant progression in CRC patients. We utilized data from patients with CRC obtained from The Cancer Genome Atlas as our training set.

Introduction: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is characterized by the complex pathogenesis, limited therapeutic methods, and poor prognosis. Endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) plays an important role in the development of HCC, therefore, we still need further study of molecular mechanism of HCC and ERS for early diagnosis and promising treatment targets.
Method: The GEO datasets (GSE25097, GSE62232, and GSE65372) were integrated to identify differentially expressed genes related to HCC (ERSRGs).

Background: N-acetyltransferase 10 (NAT10), the only RNA cytosine acetyltransferase known in humans, contributes to cancer tumorigenesis and progression. This study aims to investigate the effect of NAT10 on the malignant biological properties of gastric cancer (GC) and its underlying mechanism.
Methods: The expression and prognostic significance of NAT10 in GC were analyzed using The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) cohorts.

Objective: To analyze the effects of (regulating liver and harmonizing spirit) intradermal needling protocol on the attentional networks of patients with subthreshold depression using the attention network test (ANT).
Methods: Eighty patients with subthreshold depression were randomly divided into an intradermal needling group (40 cases) and a sham needling group (40 cases, 2 cases dropped out), with an additional 43 healthy subjects as a normal group. The intradermal needling group received intradermal needling treatment, while the sham needling group received sham intradermal needling, with the needle tip not penetrating the skin.
Hemodynamic shear stress is a frictional force that acts on vascular endothelial cells and is essential for endothelial homeostasis. Physiological laminar shear stress (LSS) suppresses endothelial inflammation and protects arteries from atherosclerosis. Herein, we screened differentially expressed circular RNAs (circRNAs) that were significantly altered in LSS-stimulated endothelial cells and found that circRNA-LONP2 was involved in modulating the flow-dependent inflammatory response.

Skeletal muscle ischemia-reperfusion (IR) injury is a prevalent type of muscle injury caused by events, such as trauma, arterial embolism, and primary thrombosis. The development of an IR injury is associated with oxidative stress and an excessive inflammatory response. Nanozymes, which have exceptional free radical scavenging activities, have gained significant attention for treating oxidative stress.

Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) has become a public health disease threatening public life safety due to its high mortality. The lateral-flow assay (LFA) of a typical cardiac biomarker, troponin I (cTnI), is essential for the timely warnings of AMI. However, it is a challenge to achieve an ultra-fast and highly-sensitive assay for cTnI (hs-cTnI) using current LFA, due to the limited performance of chromatographic membranes.

Background: Myocardial infarction (MI) leads to enhanced activity of cardiac fibroblasts (CFs) and abnormal deposition of extracellular matrix proteins, resulting in cardiac fibrosis. Tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase 5 (ACP5) has been shown to promote cell proliferation and phenotypic transition. However, it remains unclear whether ACP5 is involved in the development of cardiac fibrosis after MI.

Background: With the implementation of the 11th edition of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11) and the publication of the metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) nomenclature in 2020, it is important to establish consensus for the coding of MAFLD in ICD-11. This will inform subsequent revisions of ICD-11.
Methods: Using the Qualtrics XM and WJX platforms, questionnaires were sent online to MAFLD-ICD-11 coding collaborators, authors of papers, and relevant association members.

As an important structure for maintaining the hoop tension of the medial meniscus of the knee joint, the posterior root is receiving increasing attention. Medial meniscus posterior root tear is an important reason for the occurrence, development, and kinematics changes of knee osteoarthritis. It is necessary to repair the posterior root of meniscus for restoring joint kinematics and improving clinical efficacy.

Norovirus (NV) infection causes acute gastroenteritis in children and adults. Upon infection with NV, specific CD8 T cells, which play an important role in anti-infective immunity, are activated in the host. Owing to the NV's wide genotypic variability, it is challenging to develop vaccines with cross-protective abilities against infection.

Chemoresistance is the main obstacle in the clinical treatment of osteosarcoma (OS). In this study, we investigated the role of EF-hand domain-containing protein 1 (EFHD1) in OS chemotherapy resistance. We found that the expression of EFHD1 was highly correlated with the clinical outcome after chemotherapy.

Diabetic chronic wounds are notoriously difficult to heal as a result of their susceptibility to infection. To address this issue, we constructed an innovated and adaptable solution in the form of injectable chitosan (CS) hydrogel, denoted as CCOD, with enhanced antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. This hydrogel is created through a Schiff base reaction that combines chitosan-grafted chlorogenic acid (CS-CGA) and oxidized hyaluronic acid (OHA) with deferoxamine (DFO) as a model drug.

Background: Intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD) is an increasingly important cause of low back pain (LBP) that results in substantial health and economic burdens. Inflammatory pathway activation and the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) play vital roles in the progression of IDD. Several studies have suggested that phillyrin has a protective role and inhibits inflammation and the production of ROS.

Background: Vessels encapsulating tumor clusters (VETC) is a newly described vascular pattern that is distinct from microvascular invasion (MVI) in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Despite its importance, the current pathological diagnosis report does not include information on VETC and hepatic plates (HP). We aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of integrating VETC and HP (VETC-HP model) in the assessment of HCC.
