This research is dedicated to improving the control system of wind turbines (WT) to ensure optimal efficiency and rapid responsiveness. To achieve this, the fuzzy logic control (FLC) method is implemented to control the converter in the rotor side (RSC) of a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) and its performance is compared with an optimized proportional integral (PI) controller. The study demonstrated an enhancement in the performance of the DFIG through the utilization of the proposed FLC, effectively overcoming limitations and deficiencies observed in the conventional controllers, this approach significantly improved the performance of the wind turbine.

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a major public health concern. Animal models play a crucial role in understanding the disease pathology and development of effective treatment strategies. Chemically induced CRC represents a cornerstone in animal model development; however, due to the presence of different animal species with different genetic backgrounds, it becomes mandatory to study the susceptibility of different mice species to CRC induction by different chemical entities such as 1,2-dimethylhydrazine (DMH).

Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) complex, responsible for tuberculosis (TB) infection, continues to be a predominant global cause of mortality due to intricate host-pathogen interactions that affect disease progression. MicroRNAs (miRNAs), essential posttranscriptional regulators, have become pivotal modulators of these relationships. Recent findings indicate that miRNAs actively regulate immunological responses to Mtb complex by modulating autophagy, apoptosis, and immune cell activities.

Unlabelled: Despite the fact that canagliflozin (Cana), a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitor, is an anti-diabetic medication with additional effects on the kidney, there is limited experimental data to deliberate its hepato-reno-protective potentiality. Acetaminophen (APAP) overdose remains one of the prominent contributors to hepato-renal damage.

Aim: Our study assessed the novel effect of Cana against APAP-induced toxicities.

Millions of men and women suffer from alopecia, especially androgenic alopecia (AGA), which is considered the most common form of hair loss. The available treatments for hair loss include multiple approaches, with the most popular being synthetic drugs including minoxidil and finasteride, in addition to natural products. However, synthetic drugs have shown many undesirable side effects, on the contrary, the specifications of the commonly used natural drugs have not been reported in most of the previous studies, despite the high market preference for them.

Sex chromosomes play a significant role in establishing sex-specific differences in gene expression, thereby contributing to phenotypic diversity and susceptibility to various diseases. MicroRNAs (miRNAs), which are small non-coding RNAs encoded by both the X and Y chromosomes, exhibit sex-specific regulatory characteristics. Computational analysis has identified several X-linked miRNAs differentially expressed in sex-specific cancers.

Article Synopsis
  • - This case study examines the prevalence and impact of the parasite Caligus clemensi on European seabass and flathead grey mullet at a marine fish farm, finding seasonal peaks in infestations during winter and spring respectively, along with significant declines in the warmer months.
  • - Morphological and molecular analyses confirmed C. clemensi as the identified parasite, highlighting its physical traits and genetic characteristics, while also revealing a strong immune response in infected fish indicated by increased interleukin-1β levels and severe tissue damage upon evaluation.
  • - Environmental assessments showed water quality issues linked to local oil activities, including high levels of suspended solids and dissolved ions, which likely contributed to the conditions favoring parasite growth and reduced fish resistance.

The substance P (SP) and neurokinin-1 receptor (NK-1R) axis is crucial in numerous pathological processes, including inflammation, stress responses, pain perception, and vomiting. Consequently, aprepitant, an NK-1R blocker, is used as an antiemetic in chemotherapy, including the use of doxorubicin (DOX), but whether aprepitant can also assuage DOX-mediated chemobrain remains to be unveiled. Here, we scrutinized the potential neuroprotective effect and underlying mechanisms of aprepitant using DOX-induced chemobrain model, where rats were allocated into 4 groups (control, aprepitant, DOX, and DOX+ aprepitant).
